- Roja Parfums has made some of my favourite Niche perfumes and this one is no exception. He has managed to twist a seemingly simple fragrance genre into a heart warming melody.
This long discontinued perfume is back in a new avatar and it's great chance for everyone to scent themselves with it.

Always a pleasure seeing you upload... I've been sampling Midsummer Dream recently. Wonderful. Roja has become a favorite in my collection over the past few years Im confused by the negative sentiments about the house however I care less then I'm confused. Great review as always✌

@nikhil When I started my Odyssey of perfumery I used to wonder why is that these niche frags are so expensive, I felt all would have some ultra expensive ingredients to go with (some of them do have) and the rest would be marketing and brand positioning (which generally is the case) but down the line I realized that the money is for the art of the perfumer, the ingenuity by which subtle changes brings about myriad of wonderful experiences. Everyone makes bergamot but the way roza dove has mingled the ingredients (bithana) as we say amongst our frag community is awesome just like jakir did with that rose note in charbagh and vrindavan (getting that fermented smell to subside)..

This one was priced very well I think. You gotta pay extra to a man with that much swag bud 😅. The new one is obviously priced like a 💣. Sad that it won’t reach many out there. But the scent is brilliantly composed.

Using it since couple of years and bottle is still full!!!! Does not make sense
I have too many perfumes mate (not a good thing!). And the max I do is 2 sprays. Most of my bottles appear full.

Yeah well it’s discontinued. And greedy ppl are selling 5ml decants for $180. Despicable. I’m sure I can find other fragrances with same ingredients that are just as good. I just don’t find Roja perfumes to last more than an hour. After about half hour it’s a skin scent. That’s not worth the high money imho

Most of you have seen my interview with the ambassador of Roja Dove brand in Metropoliten art perfume shop in Belgrade. I was pleasantly surprised with the kindness, cooperation and level of interest mister Andrew Wright presented his brand. He did it so enthusiastically that I couldn’t say what I was intuitively feeling - lie through one’s teeth. Expensive packaging wrapped in ”diamonds”. Quality ingredients whose price is more expensive than gold. All of which are used to make up for the lack of talent in creating scent compositions. But, I must admit I enjoyed the experience and decided to investigate the world of one of (self-proclaimed) best noses nowadays. Roja Dove - actually its Roger but I think that rejecting its name tells a lot about the pose this brand stroke.
The beginning
As an adolescent, he began a correspondence with the PR of the house of Guerlain, also known as the “Vatican of perfume industry” as we are talking about an almost 200 years old house with a striking number of timeless perfume masterpieces it continues to produce today. He continued bombing them with questions during his medical studies he gave up to begin working in the fashion industry. When he was 24 after tiring Robert Guerlain with his questions so much he gave him an administrative job. He worked for 20 years in Guerlain and advance to the position of brand ambassador.
Then he magically opened his own perfume production in 2001. Surprise surprise, most of his creations resembled Guerlain perfumes - those already presented and those waiting to be presented. During the years he spent there he had the chance to spend time with the best perfume makers in the world and he learned a lot from them.
Are copycats the best way to repay them for the incredible opportunity given to him? Is imitation the greatest form of flattering? I’ll let you be the judge of that…
What do the critics say?
World’s greatest perfume reviewer Luca Turin gave all Roja Dove’s perfumes one star or two. The only exemption is Fetish that received three. Not one perfume landed on the good, four, five stars perfumes list. Ordinarily eloquent and interesting, Luca used one word to describe Roger Dove’s perfumes - “routine”. And he was appalled by their price.
As far as I’m concerned, luxury bottles, encrusted with metal, bejeweled with diamonds and crystals cannot mask the desperate lack of inspiration and imagination. Lack of talent is noticed with every breath and the insincerity, fakeness and narcissistic conduct of Roger (Roje) Dove can pass only with the newly rich but never with European with wit and culture and a true passion towards perfume-making art.
What do you think, are Roja Dove perfumes worth 500 to 1000 dollars apiece?

Nice wrap up of things. Yes making perfumes is the easy part but selling and creating a brand is not. He has established himself well among connoisseurs. And the question of worth lies with the buyer. If you can find better for cheaper then thats amazing. I love most classic Guerlains. Roja has a better lineup in today's times. Cheers.

Value is what you get. said Warren Buffett and this applies to Roger perfectly, overpriced generic copies of other fragrances but the hype machine from youtube "reviewers" but in reality they are pushers made Roger into Roja the man, the myth, the legend but actually he is a Matchstick con man. That's all.
