Dude..... I've been binge watching your clips. You are SUCCESSFULLY talking me out of off shore fishing. It is a lot of work. A lot of gear. A lot of fuel. A lot of REELING. A lot of chop....I can not THANK YOU enough. Most clips make it look like a beautiful stroll in the park. Your clips show REALITY. I'm going to stick to flipping baits to rocks, docks, grass and mangroves.

Awesome work Capt. Great info here. Keep the boat in gear on hookup = Yes. Keep light-tight, yes, and clicker off!! LOL. Can't believe you were out in 900ft and someone crossed you. Unbelievable how many times that happens to me too. That's the main reason I never fish on the weekends. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks a million for watching and always being here and sharing some insight. There are the basics that you have to understand in order to be successful and get the meat on the deck. All the other stuff is about fishing, not catching... LOL... yea, he got pretty close, way closer than it looks on film. I saw him running up, and figured he was gonna come by and toss in some lines because I was hooked up, but when he crossed right behind me.... that blew my mind. Then He proceeds to start flat lining out baits and asks me if I'm OK? what do you? Laugh or just shake your head? Funny thing is, is it was a solo schoolie. Anyway, thought I'd share that with you. And yes, weekends can be brutal. Thanks for everything. Tight lines & take care ;)

Hi Alex, thanks for watching and always being here and sharing your experiences. So, I am the self-proclaimed world's worst fresh water angler, but I have caught blue gill. Not the 1 pound size, the tiny ones on bread balls, then my saltwater fishing pirate side kicks in and I hook it through the back with a big red circle hook and feed it to the LMB waiting. That's pretty much why I stick to the ocean :)))) Always a true pleasure hearing from you and having your support for the channel. And yes, fish is fish, couldn't more accurate. Thanks a million for watching and sharing your view. I truly appreciate it. He was a lot closer than it looked on film. Funny thing is, he dropped out flat lines to see if I was on a school, then asked if I was OK? Really??? Anyway, it was a solo schoolie, so he was wasting his time and proving to be an arrogant, selfish, amateur, who is willing to ruin other angler's prospecting for personal gain. I'm sure inexperience had nothing to do with it, as I was 12 miles out... Newbies and renters don't go there, so it was just some inexcusable foolishness. Regardless, it happens, so I just shake it off and keep on, keepin' on. Hope you do get some good weather and fish moving in soon, so you can let the good times roll. Hi Heath, Another great "How To" video. A Mahi and a Tuna is a very good day. Plenty of food for the family. Don't you just love it when you're out in the ocean and some guy in a boat decides to come close to you. There's millions of square miles of open water and they feel the need to get close to you. You had a very successful day and a good time, so all ended well. Say "Hi" to the Fish Slayer and the Fishing Girls for me. Take care and I'll talk to you on Thursday, Mickey

Hi Mickey thanks for watching. Yea, he was a lot closer than it looked on film. Funny thing is he started dropping out lines to see if I was on a school of dolphin, then he asked if I was OK? that kind of irked me. But oh well, it was just a single mahi, so his amateur maneuver made no sense and proved to be useless. I get it, that way offshore, anglers are curious when they see other folks hooked up, but carelessness can put a damper on someone else's good time. regardless , like you said all ended well. Avi says "Hi Mickey, hope you're doing well." Thanks again for always being here and sharing your thoughts. See you on Thursday. Take care :)

The turbo slammers are kinda like bacon :)))) There's a shortage happening though, every outlet I use on line and retail don't have them. I'm trying to get about 5 or 6 more before may starts but might have seek an alternate. I would say the fella was inexperienced at boating and maritime courtesy, but I was 12 miles out, newbies don't go there... so that was just a blatant foul. Oh well. Some folks, right? Great work Heath!!! I mean, what fish doesn’t like a mini turbo slammer!!! Personally, I’ve moved away from conventional reels altogether except for Wahoo fishing. I find myself trolling with light spinning tackle and loving it. Usually a 5000 spinning reel on a 20-30 lb rod. The combo lends itself to light trolling lures like mini turbo slammers and 4in squid skirts. Makes Mahi and Blackfin fishing a blast for the kids!!!! Take care. Jay

Hi jay, thanks a million for watching and sharing. I'm the same way with the light gear. I've beefed it up a little, because the billfish are destroying me. Keep hooking marlin and sailfish. It's confusing how the sails are out in 800 ft, I'm used to seeing them over the reef. The white marlin aren't so bad, it's the blue's I can't control on the spinners. I remember when I first discovered the mini turbo slammers, changed my whole fishing game, always torn between deciding a slammer or a skirt??? Thanks for always being here and supporting the channel. I truly appreciate it. Couldn't do this without you. Tight lines & take care ;)

Thanks for the heads up for this video. I'm 12 hours ahead so got to enjoy the video with my morning Balinese coffee.
On a sad note the Indonesian submarine was found with help from a deep diving camera brought down from Singapore. It apparently broke up into at least three pieces and pretty obvious no chance of survivors. I live about twenty miles from the location where she made her last dive so I won't be going out any time soon. They were a great bunch of young sailors who loved to sing and play guitar to pass time the time. It's a real tragedy. Please take care out on the water guys because the ocean doesn't forgive mistakes and Davy Jones locker always has room for another soul.

Thanks a million for watching, sharing and asking a great question. When I used to fish from bigger boats I would fish with the spreader bar, used it as a teaser tool to draw in Marlin. But on my 17 footer, I shy away from it. It is a great tool of the trade though. I say, if you've got the capacity for it, then definitely. They also worked great for night trolling, with glow sticks inserted in squid heads. They would get demolished... Wow, you brought me down memory lane with this one. Thanks a million for watching and sharing. I concur, the weekends can be out of control. I would've said inexperience played a role, but I was 12 miles out. Newbies and renters don't go there. So my best guess is it was just sheer arrogance. He was a lot closer than it looked on film. Funny thing is, as he was dropping out flat lines, he asked me if I was OK... really??? On line is tough also, try looking up Boone turbo hammer blue/silver. They are the same thing. Problem is price, I'm not paying 12 bucks for a lure that should cost 5 or 6. Yes, I would have probably given it a couple of more seconds in the water, but I didn't see any others following, so I yanked him in, regardless of the other boater's shenanigans. It was a solo mahi, so "Mr. To-Close-For-Comfort" was wasting his time. And of course I have the spro ready at all times....
