It’s definitely a short-term PR victory, but nobody knows what will happen in two weeks despite what fan boys on either side claim. Ukraine seems unable to stop the advances at the front so changing the focus of the narrative may make sense IF they can hold the territory. Doubt they are able to come back from there. It just wastes the life of soldiers, which has been in the severe shortage.

It’s definitely a short-term PR victory, but nobody knows what will happen in two weeks despite what fan boys on either side claim. Ukraine seems unable to stop the advances at the front so changing the focus of the narrative may make sense IF they can hold the territory. @@jeddvillaspin3379 Good answer. Russia would have never expected Ukraine to invade. As such Russia likely over allocated resources to the front lines and away from their own borders. Good move as it will detract Russian resources from the front lines as troops get sent back to the border. It may even get Russia nervous/wondering which border Ukraine may invade next and could force Russia to pull even more resources from the front lines to protect their own borders. These should make it a little more easy for Ukrainian troops on the front lines.
