This news is misleading. You cannot register a bike over 400cc in Sri Lanka. Registration was allowed for sports use only. This means you cannot use the bike on public roads. Insurance will not cover road accidents and transferring the bike is an issue. The 2014 Gazette closed the temporary registration allowed in the 2013 Gazette. The call to register bikes over 400cc is gaining momentum. The apparent reason not to register a bike (too fast, police cannot catch-up) is ridiculous given that (a) sports cars that can do 0-60 in less than 4 seconds are allowed registration (b) bikes less than 400cc (like the Honda NS 250, Yamaha TZR 250) can easily outrun the police. Also the police are given bikes over 400cc and are trained to handle the power. Those in the bike community,: please don't use the phrase 'high capacity bikes' because it implies that a high capacity bike is faster and what not, which is not the case. Those who use this phrase clearly don't understand the difference between torque and power. The phrase is much loved by the non-biking community to condemn the biking community with bikes less than 400cc while the rest of the world look at our laws in bewilderment. Today, 'high capacity bikes' are classified as 'learner bikes' like the Honda CB 500x. Much is happening to the detriment of the biking community because the decision makers do not understand bikes and or have never ridden a bike. Meanwhile the biking community hopes against all hope that the situation will change.
Hi there are many unregistered hornet Honda 250cc bikes in Sri Lanka with a payment between 3lakhs to 5lakhs as starting how much totally to be cost to register this vehicle altogether Any one ???
