get some water lettuce to float at the top & also take the pothos out of soil. Allow the roots to be directly in the water that way they can suck up more nutrients. Both these plants will multiply very fast and outcompete the algae. Check the UV lights to make sure they’re working properly.

25% water changes is ok, I agree with huge water changes can kill if it changes their water quality drastically, big temp changes is probably one of the largest killers. I purchased one of those temp guns cheap on Amazon, now I can make any smaller aquariums the same temp as before the water change. Obviously in big ponds temp changes is not so worrisome unless you changed all the water at once.
The clarity has to do with phosphates as well. You can add those phosx bags of treatment to the filters to absorb excess phosphates. It’s why you see algae blooms etc, it’s excess nutrients, fish poop, leftover food etc. It builds up for you due to your small water changes you were doing. It’s inexpensive to add the bags so if one week you didn’t do as big a water you could feel ok knowing the phosphate wouldn’t build up if someone overly fed or a fish died etc.
Especially spring with outdoor ponds but all aquariums ponds etc can have it happen. It makes water cloudy. Use products to remove excess products and phosph x if needed. It Can kill the fish though if you allow it to build up. You have green water which is from excess nutrients aka phosphates, which makes oxygen during the day, then you have decaying matter at the bottom, you then can have zones especially at the bottom where the water has no oxygen, or at night the algae stops making oxygen at night and kills all your fish.
If you continue to have high phosphate it will kill the algae as well, now you have no oxygen getting to the water because what little being made has stopped and the decaying algae will sick the rest out of the pond, you will end up with all your fish dying.
In my ponds I add Dolomites fertilizer, as things are digested and converted from ammonia to nitrites to nitrates if you don’t have enough KH, acids build up. So dolomite a natural product made from rocks (like like limestones ) brings the ph up to neutral, is only used as the acid builds from excess nutrients etc, ( the good bacteria has to have some alkalinity to continue to make nitrites to nitrates to help remove it, don’t have enough it starts to fail and your water becomes toxic. In my pond I can throw handfuls of Dolomites, in an aquarium please figure it out. This is only in neutral or alkaline liking fish (ones that prefer tannins using like more acid water as tannins makes your water gear toward the acid side)
In the spring ponds also deal with all the crap that trees drop in which raises the phosphates as they decay, newer aquariums can have issues as well aka the cloudiness until excess is removed, I just used a chemical daily to remove slowly (too much removal can kill your fish as well) and water changes.
Blake you all have wells that maintain the temps and non chlorinated water. Just have it set up to fill your tank daily, for a short time, with excess allowed to drain out into your gardens etc. Like you all do with your turtles. You could figure it out by testing, and figuring out what works for your tank/pond.
You wouldn’t need to do twice weekly water changes, maybe only weekly or biweekly depending on your values. It’s just a lot of work where just over filling May work even easier. Summer time would be your busier times to do it, as cooler waters even in Florida winters would probably need less changes. Up north in the winter we don’t do any changes only top offs if truly needed.
You should learn to test your ph, nitrates, kh (alkilinity) phosphates weekly until you figure out what works and what doesn’t. Just remember big water temp/ph changes can do just as much damage in killing your fish if too sudden.

Need to get an aquarium long handled razor scraper, lot easier to scrape algae off, and maybe you can have someone hold a mirror on the other side to see or just snorkel. It takes a lot of sponge scraping when a razor blade really gets it all, and will make your glass really see through. No fish will ever really clean the glass like you need it. Just get the long handled razor blade scrapers. And water shoes, lol I understand completely of large fish and toes!

As a matter of interest, what is the source of the water you use? I ask as I have a wellpoint (shallower than a borehole, mine is 15m) on my property. I have had my water tested and is iron free (which most of our wellpoints in South Africa contain a lot). As a result, I used to use this to top up my swimming pool with this water - but that started to cause a lot of algae bloom.

You should never use anything that contains soaps and other chemicals to clean a fish tank. Magic Erasers are full of soaps and other cleaning agents. Now, all that is in your huge tank. It may only be a little bit, but it can and will harm the fish even if you do not notice any problems. Also, over time, as you keep cleaning in that way, more harmful chemicals are building up in the tank. You should only use a scraper and an algae pad. You broke one of the biggest fishtank keeping rules. Never use soaps or other chemicals to clean a fish tank. The residue left behind can cause problems. Never use salt, even fresh water salt, unless you are treating the fish for parasites. Salt for freshwater fish is extremely stressful as it burns their skin, making them produce more slime than normal, stressing out the fish. Also, over time, if there is a buildup of salt, it can burn the gills of freshwater fish. Years ago, it was the practice of using aquarium freshwater salt, but more recent studies show it helps with medicated treatments, but freshwater fish kept with salt can have issues down the line besides keeping the fish stressed out. Some freshwater species can not tolerate any salt at all. The fish and turtle you have can tolerate some salt, but only on a short-term basis. The newer studies have now shown that the use of freshwater aquarium salt is harmful to freshwater fish, and some may seem fine with it when they really are not and can have long term issues because of the use of salt in a freshwater tank

Dude if I was you... I'd add a couple more bio filters or something cause big fish have big poop :P (maybe a sock filter) I know you made it to be work free.... but tanks/ ponds neva are work free. Lmao at the camera girl and your yelling

You need a lot more biological media and circulation in my opnion. 10% of the total tank capacity should be media. Only big UVs and a "small" filter for such a large tank with huge predatory fish wont do it.
Surface area for harvesting beneficial bacteria is king on improving water clarity.
    All the best
