Yes I agree. I think these creators of these Spelling'esque shows really did care and I think the actors and and the Crew were like family. It would've been exciting to work on a soap in the 1980s in Hollywood. I would've loved to have been involved somehow because I think from all accounts they were marvellous times and because it was all pre-digital age, all the nonsense we deal with today in social media wouldn't have been there. Those were the good, bad old days!
Thank you! This episode was my introduction to Knots Landing and I was hooked! Loved the shot of Abby on the balcony and the way the image of Gary froze and became the cliffhanger.
loved the crossing scenes between val and abby...both thinking about gary....they used these in the opening themes starting in season 5 all the way till season 9...
Val stuck by him long after Gary's expiration date. Always liked their bond after their divorce. their friendship went beyond marriage, forgave all their transgression. this show was criminally ignored just because it was a soap.
Uh no! Don't even try to start that stuff. Dallas and Knots Landing were BOTH good in their own distinct way. Dallas was just amazing to watch because of J.R. Knots Landing was more emotional and deeper and had storylines that common people could relate to.
The thing that seperates knots landing from the rest of the soap opears is they let the story bulid up around its's charators.Rather take a crazy stiuation and throwing the charators in it.
@stickyNsweet08 I have to say I liked Dallas and then got into Knots...what I liked about Dallas was that it was definitely a guys soap. Although it had its faults and all...the two were different in tone and storytelling...I can't wait for them to release all of the seasons here in the US!
You may want to watch the "Bottom of the Bottle, Part II" again, I have the entire season on DVD and he did NOT hit Val. Val just so happens to be in the way when he was breaking into Laura's liquor cabinet.
yes he DID.she wouldnt have gave herself that black eye.because thats what happens sometimes when youre married to an alcoholic.not saying ive been through it or have done it especially since i dont drink alcohol but i know people who have been through it or at least ive heard about it
This was the soap opera that got me into like soap operas. I wasn't a fan of them before this soap. I started liking this series when Karen and mac's twins were kidnapped and the show to me stayed good all the way to the end.
It was Val's twins with Gary that were stolen but Karen was the first person to believe that Val's babies might have been stolen and set out to uncover the truth. Great storyline, great show.
I think that this is the kind of cliffhangers I'd like to have in my writing--character driven not dependent upon some hijinks. I also loved the wasy Joan stepped up Val's character in this scene. And--I always love to see Karen run. She has a run of purpose, and you get anxious just seeing her run
Joan Van Ark has spent a lot of time as Valene Ewing, but I really would love to see her act in a role apart from the Knots universe, same with Shackelford too
Fun fact: Both Joan Van Ark and Ted Shackleford actually guest starred together in an episode of Wonder Woman a year prior to being cast as Val and Gary on Dallas/Knots Landing!
But how would Lucy even know that? As I recall, Gary split when Lucy was still a baby. Remember the KL episode when some of J.R.'s henchmen snatched baby Lucy out of Val's arms outside of Lilimae's place. I always assumed that the Ewings raised her totally and she didn't see Val again until she was older. I think J.R. may have told her all of those crazy stories; the same way he lied to her and said that Val took $10,000 to leave when he really threatened her to leave.
With Gary in jail, why wouldn't they call JR or Bobby to help? JR could certainly get Gary out of this mess. Even if he had to blackmail the prosecutor to do it. JR may have no liked Gary, but he wouldn't allow a Ewing to rot in jail. And where is Miss Ellie?
la música es conmovedora, alguien sabe de quien es?,todavia recuerdo cuando vi el final de temporada, acá en Argentina solo pasaron hasta la temporada 8,nunca mas la volvi a ver
I also love daytime and nighttime drams-what I enjoyed about Knots Landing as well as daytime shows is the very slow revealing plots-as opposed to today RUSH to the point sotrylines. This was teh best KNTOS LANDING season ever.
True...and in the 1st season of Dallas Lucy was almost gloating over the fact that Gary used to give her momma a good whooping! I think they decided to drop that aspect of Gary and Vals relationship!
Valene is incorrect about Gary's behavior during his blackouts...or she's forgotten that he slapped HER during Season 1 while lunging for a drink...Val sported a black eye for days!
That's why I don't like daytime soaps, because they rely on this because so many of them are competing it's craziness. That's why I would have my soap opera come on in the night time when people are looking to be entertained instead of titillated
It would've been better if Karen hadn't burst into that hysterically unconvincing wail: D-I-A-N-A. KL left out its trademark subtlety there. A freezeframe of Karen would've worked better.
I'm sorry but Gary & Val never worked out as a couple, their relationship was too toxic Val would always be the one who got hurt. They should've remained friends. In hindsight, Abby did her a favor.
not necessarily.or else they wouldnt have been together from the start and kept getting back together to where you might as well have said the same about Richard and Laura even though they eventually divorced for a different reason
Who could hаve respect for а person nаmed CJ? It's impossible to even pronounce with strаight fаce. Dunno whаt they did to their fаces, but аll I cаn see of Kаren аnd Vаl аre their nostrils. It's not 80s think since Dallas' and Abby's character didnt have this problem.
Joan Van Ark shines in her scene with Gary, she has been underrated as an actress because of her length of portrayal as Valene
I agree. This may have been her best.
Best series… EVER!!
Knots❤️❤️❤️
They cared.
The creator's, the cast, the writers.
They all cared so so much.
And God it shows.
Yes I agree. I think these creators of these Spelling'esque shows really did care and I think the actors and and the Crew were like family. It would've been exciting to work on a soap in the 1980s in Hollywood. There never has been, and there never will be, another series like this.
I miss the night time soaps .....I miss Knots Landing !
You can find it on sockshare.net in its entirety
Night time soaps were so fabulous and entertaining. There is nothing to watch on free to air tv anymore. They want you pay for everything now.
Gary was such a spunk.
Same here.
The music is just so gorgeous...adds so much to the scenes. LOVED this ending of the season!
If Gary only knew how much Valene loved him.
Knots was great! Damn I miss this show
Sockshare.net has it in its entirety
Thank you! This episode was my introduction to Knots Landing and I was hooked! Loved the shot of Abby on the balcony and the way the image of Gary froze and became the cliffhanger.
Wow! Sorry this was the first time you started watching. I saw KL very first episode Sid & Karen were my favs!!
Thank goodness for Plex because I am able to enjoy Knots for the very first time right now.
Gosh I MISS this show!! I LOVE the music in this one!
Is this series on dvd? Because I want them ALL.
Now THAT'S a season finale, folks!
loved the crossing scenes between val and abby...both thinking about gary....they used these in the opening themes starting in season 5 all the way till season 9...
I wish I could like this 1,000 times, I've rewatched it so much I could wear out the replay button lol
Lol.
Val stuck by him long after Gary's expiration date. Always liked their bond after their divorce. their friendship went beyond marriage, forgave all their transgression. this show was criminally ignored just because it was a soap.
Val loves Gary all her ❤️ she stuck by his side after they divorced baby together had twins
Rich or poor, Valene loved Gary and couldn’t care less about his money. Joan Van Ark plays this role so convincingly.
If Chip hadn’t killed Ciji, Val never would’ve met Ben Gibson at Gary’s trial. One story begins another.
Yes but Ben wasn't ideal husband for her, always gone because of his job and dangerous people around him
Knots did it better then the other shows! This was just Awesome writing and acting. Dang I wish they would do a reunion show again.
We need 'Back to the Cul-Du-Sac 2.0'
@@CaAnPeSe4ever yes we do
We need the remaining seasons officially released on DVD Blu Ray.
This season finale was fantastic 🤩
Uh no! Don't even try to start that stuff. Dallas and Knots Landing were BOTH good in their own distinct way. Dallas was just amazing to watch because of J.R. Knots Landing was more emotional and deeper and had storylines that common people could relate to.
No one loved Gary like val did she loved him like no other person did
The thing that seperates knots landing from the rest of the soap opears is they let the story bulid up around its's charators.Rather take a crazy stiuation and throwing the charators in it.
I think that to me is what made it so great.

@linny50 I really like that. They really did make the silence work for the situations
It was a good show. I can see why it lasted so many seasons.
They should have titled this "Gary has the hangover from Hell" lol! The way he walks through the door-PRICELESS
Isn’t that shot of Valene sitting back in the chair looking pensive the same shot they used in the theme song montage for a while?
Yes, the fade to Abby shot was in the opening titles for some time
I think it was both of them; fading into each other.
Wonderful actress with soul....Michell lee
Great acting from Michele Lee! The look on her face when she found out about Chip/Tony! I wasn't surprised that he was the murderer 🙄
Ciji ended bad . Gary arrested for it too . But Thank god it was soon figured out who did really and he was free
When Karen found out Diana was gone with chip oh my
Such a blind ungratefull daughter loved it when Éric slapped her to protect their mother
The word Evocative sums up the Great Knots Landing-I love This concluding season episode!-My fave season ending Cliff hanger!!😃👏👍
This was the soap opera that got me into like soap operas. I wasn't a fan of them before this soap. I started liking this series when Karen and mac's twins were kidnapped and the show to me stayed good all the way to the end.

@@keithhunter5564 you're right. It was Gary & Valenes twins. Mack & Karen bent over backwards to get those babies back to Valene 👏👏👏👏
they were Gary and Vals twins
Michelle Lee was awesome
I agree. You can feel her emotions
I think that this is the kind of cliffhangers I'd like to have in my writing--character driven not dependent upon some hijinks. I also loved the wasy Joan stepped up Val's character in this scene. And--I always love to see Karen run. She has a run of purpose, and you get anxious just seeing her run
and Valene changed her accent on Knots Landing . To be fair , many did on Dallas too except for Sue Ellen because she was after all Miss Texas
Joan Van Ark appeared in THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS while Ted Shackleford appeared in night-time soap SAVANNAH.
michael65 She was also in a great short lived show called "Temperatures Rising" with Cleavon Little; it was good but the ratings were low.
Ted Shackleford was on The Young And The Restless at the same time for a while
lol, Funny how you could here Valene bang the window yet you couldn't hear her scream at Gary
Joan Van Ark has spent a lot of time as Valene Ewing, but I really would love to see her act in a role apart from the Knots universe, same with Shackelford too
vidhead85 well then, go watch, the horror film, The Frogs! She starred in it!
She was Hawkeyes girlfriend on M*A*S*H in its earlier days.
Fun fact: Both Joan Van Ark and Ted Shackleford actually guest starred together in an episode of Wonder Woman a year prior to being cast as Val and Gary on Dallas/Knots Landing!

I agree at least season2 is out in April,glad I've a multi-regional DVDplayer.
If you want to check out the show, the 14 seasons are all on sockshare.net

@kirbyco1221 Richard Avery summed up Season 4 best when he said to JR that Seaview Cir was more like a war zone
Knots landing was one of The best shows ever made 💙 oh yeah 😨 poor Val
la música es conmovedora, alguien sabe de quien es?,todavia recuerdo cuando vi el final de temporada, acá en Argentina solo pasaron hasta la temporada 8,nunca mas la volvi a ver

5:03 - see you in the fall.
Knots-Landing-Finale; both Karen Mackenzie and Valene Ewing have still got my votes period . Leandro Roberts .
That's the way I remember that slap, too. I don't remember him just beating her down. In fact, they both seemed kind of surprised over it.
Lol!! Behind barz😂
This was the last episode to have the “cup-de-sac” years in it. Season 05 ended that. A shame.....
Cul De Sac years?
yeah i noticed Abby moved a couple of times maybe a few
That's no problem, maybe we could be co writers or something
Do they think Gary killed Sid ? And thats why he s in jail ?
but the slap was more or less an accident
@dokboy77 JR probably lied to her about her father
Valene is incorrect about Gary's behavior during his blackouts...or she's forgotten that he slapped HER during Season 1 while lunging for a drink...Val sported a black eye for days!

both of them could be entertaining and titillating
or maybe lucy was making it up, cuz she was a bit of a problem child back in the day... lol
Anyone willing to sell me season 3?
They have 3 kids together
She should have left well enough alone she was no longer his wife he wad involved with someone else at that point
It would've been better if Karen hadn't burst into that hysterically unconvincing wail: D-I-A-N-A. KL left out its trademark subtlety there. A freezeframe of Karen would've worked better.
I love me some Karen but she has the most annoying cry!
What would you do if you found out that your daughter has gone away with an alleged killer
I'm sorry but Gary & Val never worked out as a couple, their relationship was too toxic Val would always be the one who got hurt. They should've remained friends. In hindsight, Abby did her a favor.
