"What are we gonna do if we see a bunch of rad fuckin' boulders on the side of the road...we're gonna stop man."
Best kind of climbing trip.
As a skateboarder of 20 years just now getting into climbing I appreciate this video a lot.
damn, yeah this is like the climbing version of skate videos we used to make in the early 2000's
Aaron Fitch this video is essentially “photosynthesis” by alienworkshop but for climbers. I love it and I’m so excited to learn and grow all I can from climbing the way I did skating.
@@005connect9 damn this may be the realest comment I’ve ever read
Damn nice to see all my fellow skaters getting into rock climbing , much love gang
So many boulderers and skaters rub shoulders alot. Very similar cultures, mind sets and the willing to spend hours even days on a single move/trick. And then theres the 'culture' 🪴
Loved the fact that, not a single grade was given to boulders, only names.
I agree to One thing I have realized is some of the best climbers/boulderers don’t climb for the grade they climb for pushing themselves and improving themselves
@@kianchristensen9554 I agree they don’t climb for grades, but I also think the idea of improving one self is quite toxic and also a dead end. I think this type of climbers climb because it’s a lot of fun and it feels good. You obviously need harder and harder problems to make the game more fun, but at the end of the day it’s just gaming. I hate how nowadays it has become this competitive and measurable thing and some of the new climbers are climbing for the wrong reasons. Love that Ashima retired from competing, but still climbing and working on more creative stuff. Climbing is almost like skateboarding, it’s all about the friendship, the scene, the movements, the creativity and I don’t enjoy seeing it as a competitive sport.
@@OrionBlazeu sound gay as fuck
The cost of production should be given in grams insted of dollars :)
“Bunch of stoners go round crushing every problem they see” - real title.
Isn't that professional climbing in a nutshell haha
I think it would be better that way
That was when cannabis was 4 or 5% THC lol
Way to go reel rock. Support the quarantined climbers with this classic movie!
Billy Boy yep
Thank you for releasing this for free. This is the video that started the transformation of bouldering from underground to the mainstream. This was a moment, just as the sport started to get digital cameras on it so we could see different kinds of climbing in different places beyond magazines and guide books . Also the nostalgia of road-trips. And Squamish bouldering. I miss seeing those blocks!
This is so rad! As a somewhat new climber, 1.5 yrs, I appreciate these older vids. Very skater vibe for sure.
many of the climbers back in the day also had skating as a secondary or primary hobby at this time. It was a "raw" extreme venture. I miss the rawness of diehard climbers. Call me nostalgic. elitist idgaf. I'd do anything to have the community be more pure.
I had all the original Big Up videos as they came out. Met him as a kid in a gym in San Francisco in the 90’s (along with Lynn Hill!). It was an exciting time for climbing. Back then brands like North Face etc were just becoming mainstream. I threw out all my old DVDs after moving recently and regret losing all the old Sharma/Big Up footage. This brings tears to my eyes! I wish I could go back to these days! Thank you!
This guy is the Tiger Woods/Michael Phelps/Michael Jordan of climbing. Seriously under appreciated as an athlete. These videos were just surreal at the time and still are.
this has psyched me more than anything in ages. love the 90s jungle and trip hop beats. gona jump on my hangboard rn
definitely no weed was smoken
Smoken is my new favorite verb
hwat s weed
Anyone knows the song startin @ 1:09:53? Shazam can't recognize it.
@@enterthevoidIi idk but its a banger, lmk when u find out
Thanks for making me laugh out loud on a amazingly shit day.
this was a big splash of gasoline on a small fire when it came out. thanks josh and reel rock for uploading this.
Michael Call glad to see you’re still into the climbing game. Hope you and everyone out in SLC are doing well right now. -Jeff from Cincinnati .
Still the best intro of any climbing film
Thank you RR!! I was literally reading today about T.C.'s early years with SHARMA in The Push. So awesome to see him in action.
damn this shit i real. i started bouldering like 2 years ago and "grew up" to all these new style climbing youtube channels...but man why did it all become so competitive...fuck man these guys dont give a shit about the grade. they let the footage speak for itself and it does.
Seeing Cali like this makes me miss home so much it hurts.
Love the old school dnb music they use in this. Probably the only one here but big up on the soundtrack ahaha so fun to watch
This is so 90s early 2000s it hurts
F'n LOVE the oldschool drum n bass bed
This is so epic, man. You can feel that back then the psyche was so fresh!
Forever classic... hypes me up everytime!!!
36:56 that's the sickest move of the entire rampage dude
the dude in the back is so psyched ahaha he stood and clapped at the end lollll
Agreed. Anyone know what grade that problem was?

And they all just giggling at how ridiculous it was and sharma says "what an out there move" after sitting behind the group
The kinship among these guys is awesome! Had me rolling for most of the scenes, not to mention that they are all animals
This video has such a nice vibe!

@@wyatt5851 We still need that song, google and shazam won't say!
It’s so fun seeing Sharma being a goof instead of his more recent, contemplative climbing guru energy. Makes me like him more. Edit: the sequence beginning at 53:15 just blows my mind, hanging his entire body weight and even swinging a bit from “holds” like these.
Much appreciated Reel Rock! More please!
Thank you for releasing this classic!
Anybody know the name of the song at 40:28 ?
Thanks for uploading guys! Epic
Sharma problem, amazing!
was cool seeing the squamish stuff having spent a few months there. The Egg honestly looks impossible in real life haha.
over 2 decades old and still awesome. 👏
Damn I want one of those sleeveless Prana V neck sweaters!
Best thing I've seen since the real thing
the music fits so damn good here. great
Good to know there was a time when climbers actually had steeze.

Sharma: climbing barfoot? Sounds good to me😂
that was fking epic. never seen it before and it captures a spirit of that time.
DOPE YOU GUYS ARE STRONG CLIMBERS THE REAL DEAL.
Brings me back to the days Obe would come down to the gym here in Cincy to climb. Dude had the most massive forearms. Wonder what he’s up to these days.
Coltrane in the background @ 16:21
Sooooooo good!
Anyone know the song at 40:30 when Chris is at Xgames?
Need track id at 54-56 mins !!! Please
Loved it.
56:30 lmao he was so zooted
I’ve been trying to find one of the songs o this soundtrack for more than 10 years. It’s credited to “Stephen” in the credits. Song is “The King is Dead” off the album “Hello, I thought you were dead”. Fierce Records. Anyone here know of this artist and album? Maybe it was never released? I’ve even mailed the Big Up team twice with no response.
Happen to be the one at 37 minutes?

Anyone have any idea what the song they used at around 35:00 is?

4:10 the one that magnus mitdbo flashed when he went to cali
Song at 30:00 pleasee
