      Do you really....really.... want to get back on an opiate as strong as buprenorphine? suboxone
      after being clean from opiates for 100 days? that is ridiculous and dangerous, and you may literally never come off it for life, because of the very long half-life and pain of withdrawal from buprenorphine is extremely underexplained, heroin,oxycontin, morphine etc..does not hold a candle to the length of time and pain of withdrawals that buprenorphine gives a patient, ask an actual addict or visit a rehab clinic and ask the addicts there to compare what withdrawal are worse, not a rehab doctor prescribing it

      @Stephen Tumlin I get your question now. At first yes, however if it helps me stay away from the hard core pain pills that can kill you, then I had to realize that those people have no clue what this medication is used for, and I also had a really bad benso problem. Suboxone also helped me with that issue, but I do see your point. I just think for me, being alive is better, than what a few people think about me by the medicine I'm on.

      I agree. I started buprenorphine from a patch being sick for almost 36 hours. It worked great and I wasn't sick for a day and a half. I went on Suboxone soon after. I was sick for the period of time they recommended (morphine use) and they determined I was sick enough.. I got sooo sick, worse than coming off of 120mg methadone. I never went back. And I'd never try it again. I tried to relieve it by taking more morphine but no amount helped at all.. made it worse I think. I went into precipitated withdrawal for the next 14 hours

    Childhood trauma due to parental or trusted adult psychological, emotional and sexual abuse toward the child...changes the child's brain chemistry and literally damages our brains. No one wakes up saying oh I think I'll go become a drug addict, only people self medicating who are seeking the normalcy everyone else takes for granted ~ heroin (in my case) afforded me, gone are all our social anxieties, self doubts, self hatred, self deprecating internal dialogue, self harm, perpetual second guessing oneself etc etc. Society, government corruption and basically the creation of civilisation itself and the resultant loss of man's connection with the earth, with natural cycles of life, a loss of connection with the very things man was designed for and give connection and meaning to, if you'll forgive the expression, life the universe and everything (God bless DA❤️) - those things are amongst the contributing factors for sure. And here's a surprise, prohibition DOESN'T WORK, you cannot PUNISH the PAIN out of people and the War On Drugs was at its heart a war against the walking wounded in our society, a war against the most vulnerable and least capable of any kind of meaningful self defence. The government's have become the biggest drug dealers of all and jealously guard their turf, their product and their gullible addicted customers; so that's all lands governed, all addictive pharmaceuticals (all the opioids and ADHD drugs) and their customers - us. Call me cynical. But deep down I have hope for us, I couldn't face each day without that hope.

    I’ve always thought it’s crazy that people label users as relapsed just for a single moment of use?! It’s nuts. Just like when people right off a users entire life lived before they became addicted as if everything before and after your period of use was meaningless (i.e. “hello my name is BLANK, and I’m an Addict”….I’ve always hated that).

This is why we are all unique individuals with a wide range of "stuff" we need to work through. If you treat the trauma, you will treat the addiction. Dont rush your recovery. Its at your own pace. Clonidine is primarily used "off-label" in the case of opiate/opiod withdrawl and can help with keeping calm and agitation, restlessness ect. It is an anti hypertensive drug. Clonidine is not an opiod or opiate and is commonly used alongside buprenorphine in MAT, usually in the beginning stages when the patient is still getting adjusted to the medication and detox from the opiate and or opiod.

    • @DrBAddictionRecovery
      @DrBAddictionRecovery  4 роки тому +1

      That is a very common attitude, even out here. Part of it is a misunderstanding of the concept that how opiates and benzos together are more deadly. Although true, there is a sublty here and it is too long to get into.

    • @sebaldwin12
      @sebaldwin12 4 роки тому +1

      I live in Ohio and also had the problem with benzo/bup. Dr. B is right it is a common attitude from a doctor. The studies of mixing benzos and bup are still limited as suboxone was FDA approved in 2003. The studies i have read are mostly of people illicitly using benzos and or buprenorphine together, not much on the patients using the two medications as directed . As Dr. B explains that if the patient is on a benzo then they would be closely monitered because of the abuse potential. The best option in my opinion if bup and benzos are prescribed is to seek out a dual diagnosis facility so the doctor can tailor your opiate/opiod recovery and also the anxiety issues.

      How are you doing on your fourth month?? Giving up heroin to give suboxone a try. Coming across comments like yours is the reason I am taking the leap of faith.

      @@limayaden8458 I've been clean since april! Nowadays I barely can imagine the pain I was in for the last 3,5 years straight. I started using when 19 years old so at times I really did believe that i was a lost cause. I couldn't get myself to clean my appartement even every 4 months, I lost contact to basically all of my friends, didn't have any hobbies, lost both of my jobs.
      I almost lost an arm and a leg due to addiction.
      Just kept getting closer to being homeless or dying of an OD by the week.
      But then my ego kinda kicked in. I was just tired of the endless circle I couldn't get out of.
      I wrote this list (highly recommend) of specific things that I hate about being an addict.
      I looked at it every day.
      The withdrawal symptoms were HORRIBLE.
      After the initial withdrawal phase I had PAWS for like 2,5 months.
      But the list reminded me that being an addict is the one of the worst things on earth.
      I wanted to relapse so badly. But the list still keeps me from relapsing.
      Now, I'm sitting in my clean kitchen, laundry done, meal cooked, I'm showered and my body looks healthy for the first time in YEARS.
      Writing this I'm literally crying. I was so close to giving up my life. I'm so glad I didn't.
      I have so much more energy, love and passion for life, the people around me and myself.
      Don't give up buddy. Suboxone is a great idea. If you're able to get therapy please do.
      Write a list of the things you'd love to do one day. Write a list of why you don't like your situation.
      If writing is too uncomfortable, just think about these questions.
      I'm rooting for you friend!!

    Doctor, much respect for the info but i do have a issue going from one drug to the next...Suboxtone and methadone are worst than the opiate. Can we just be honest. If you really want to stop. Just stop cause what you feeling is everything you were trying to numb during your addiction. Man up and deal with it. If you looking for a help with meds to get you thru addiction then you really aint ready to quit.....i cold turkey off of 80 norcos a day to 15 OP 80s to putin myself on methadone (meaning bying liquid bottles off streets) for 7 years and i just stopped. Tired. You will know when you are tired and ready to make your life better. God bless everyone.

      You are lucky. I tried to ''Woman up'' by going to the South of France to ''Cold turkey'' it out... alone.{Heroin and methadone} ..It was so utterly grim.
      I just dragged myself up and down the coast by train going from pharmacy to pharmacy buying Paregorique and Neo Codion in a vain attempt to ease the pains. Such beautiful scenery lost on me, the lighthouse over the bay at St Tropez hit the bedroom wall with four rapid flickers of light, I watched them for hours, like a pulse through the hot restless nights
      Shamefully approaching rainy old England I knew my pain would be eased.
      Next year I went back, fully supported with a script...what a blessed difference.

    Yes, i agree. Suboxone has saved my life. Many times i hear ppl say Subs do not work for me. Ive tried it many times over 10 years and by staying open minded and willing to not give up, it finally worked. Im now 3 years clean and a Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist. Never give up. Its a learning process and overtime, all the stars align (everything weve learned after many attempts to quit drugs,) and we get it. I have MDD, so i always feel depressed, so i have a lot of relapse in my history. Just keep pushing forward and you will achieve recovery. God bless... 🙏❤💪
