Hi friends, Kati from Terra Mater here. 👩🏻👋🏽 I hope you like this inspiring conservation story. For me, Dr. Lisa Dabek and all TKCP scientists and rangers are truly inspiring and I hope that they’ll continue their amazing work for many more years. You can support them here: www.zoo.org/tkcp/donate. P.S.: Have you ever heard about the Tree kangaroo before? I mean, they’re such a unique species, right? 🦘💛
Want to see some happy faces? 🥳 Check out the "Twenty Years of Saving Tree Kangaroos" video from Woodland Park Zoo: ua-cam.com/video/7pzIaLYMHlY/v-deo.html
I never heard about them before!🙈 I just realised that there is a tree kangaroo in an old puzzle I've had for many years. It's a painted half-realistic tropical rainforest motive with all kinds of tropical plants and animal species, but until today I legit thought the puzzle designer had made the tree kangaroo up from imagination😅 Obviously the artist knew more about wildlife than I did. Makes me appreciate that puzzle a lot more in hindsight.
Nice Videos, though the informations here are a bit false since there are also tree kangaroos in the West Papua (The Indonesian-side of the island. They are also endangered here as well.. I remember my Uncle bring me one as a gift from his hunt.. But my Dad ended up bringing the poor creature to a shelter since he knows that its an endangered species..
I’ve never heard of a conservation effort that assists local communities in exchange for helping with conservation. Not only does it help the people of the region but it also changes their view on wildlife and nature. Great work and hopefully this will serve as a blueprint to unite people from all around the world to help save this planet.
This project is so significant, it helps the local people and protects this endangered cute animal at the same time. An example for how we can make Earth a better place together. Congratulation on your noble achievement ♥
Wow I didn't even know something like this is happening now, thanks to Terra Mater and Dr. Devek and the locals for helping these amazing animals and thankyou for telling us the news!! ❤
Hi Nethuni, thanks a lot for your kind words and thanks for watching! 🤗 You're absolutely right, scientists & locals joined forces to protect these amazing species, and they're doing a great job! Did you know that Tree kangaroos exist?
It's very touching seeing all these people collaborating to save these animals. I almost cried when i saw the joy of both the scientist and the tracker when he says he catch a female !! that's heartwarming. thank you
This is a wonderful and inspirational story. It seems that in many areas where the earth is hurting, and where conservation efforts are needed, often you will also find people hurting. Sometimes it is from outside groups exploiting the land and people. Sometimes it is a people forgotten and abandoned by everyone who use the land in the only way they know how to survive. I love seeing a conservation effort that works so hard to improve the lives of those living in the area. The goal isn't to have more tree kangaroos. the goals is to have a world where tree kangaroos can live and survive, and so the people living around them have the resources (physical and knowledge) to live good lives that do not hurt our world. This is good. thank you.
Amazing success at turning the local hunters into local conservator. The funding is spent more efficiently when direct to help the local survive so they don’t hunt than spending on sending people to the forest and capture these animals and manually grow them in a safer place.
To those people who do effort to save these beautiful creatures from extinction, thank you. May you have strength, will, and intelligence to continue. Someday I hope, I'll become like you.
Wow! A great story of matchie tree kangaroo gives information about it's less population and thankful to Dr. Devek for her contribution to conserve such a rare species.
It's so heartwarming and wonderful to see the native people involved in the conservation efforts. It's their land and their fauna, so their expertise is immeasurable. I hope they all can protect this species.
I'm Papua New Guinean, thank you to those conservationists who are helping our people to get education through programs as such. Most places in PNG are in the rural areas. Seeing these is something we as locals would appreciate for decades to come.
Thanks for this inspiring story. It's good to hear about tree kangaroos for the first time and also find out the decades conservation work are keeping their population stable. Thank you to all the conservationists and locals for preserving the cloud forest 🙂❤️
We are so happy that you took the time to tell us how you feel about our video! This means a lot to us! Thank you! 🦘🌳 They really are incredible little animals!
"So the question is; 'does all the local population participates in the conservation of these tree kangaroos?; the answer is 'yes'': Actually I felt very good at this statement.
Thanks! Needed this, man, just shows you that we can achieve it :) Luckily Papua does still retain a lot of jungle, compared to other islands in the Malay Archapeligo, happy to see these people protect their world.

A Guide in daintree Australia told me that there were tree kangaroos there too. He said he didn't believe it but one day he saw them. We also saw a cassowary that day.

I personally saw tree kangaroo caught by PNG (Papua New Guinea) natives and some up in the trees in the island Province of Manus sometime in 1997. Manus province is not within Huon Peninsula of PNG.

Convergent Evolution is extremely fascinating and Marsupials are prime examples of it . Thylacine was Marsupial Equivalent of Dog/ Wolf . Thylacoleo was Marsupial Equivalent of Panther . I would really want a video of a Primatologist reacting to THIS video 🙏❤️
Majestic animals! Most of tropical paradises including Congo in Africa are high conflict zones, heard of violence in Papua New Guinea recently. Hope the conversation is going really well ❤
Absolutely, @bucephalus1111! Protecting them is indeed our collective responsibility, especially when considering they only inhabit this particular region of the planet. Keep watching and spreading the word. Thank you for being part of the conversation! ❤️
