the members of the band look like parts of a late 80s high school road trip movie. You got the Jock on Drums, delinquent on percussion, nerd on guitar, stoner on rhythm, with his surfer mate on synth, emo kid vocalist, and draco malfoy on bass.
This live groups reminds me a lot of late Talking Heads. They expanded the band with extra drums and synths, plus Will isn't playing guitar anymore so he can do his weird dances.
His voice has this disaffected boredom to it that reminds me of a young Julian Casablancas, which really rocks with the type of music these guys put out. New fan!
That Sober to Death/Powderfinger/Don't You Worry Bout a Thing medley has no business being this good wtf. Definitely one of my most favourite live performances ever, the other tracks are amazing as well, but that is pure magic
chtcheglovv Yes! It is so satisfying! I am so proud! I totally agree with you! Thanks for posting this, I think you should go on! Keep commenting on all the videos! Here's a like! It's a sign I agreed with you! You're amazing!
I never heard of these guys before. I clicked out of interest without a clue of what to expect. I'm happy to say that I will be tuning into more car seat headrest in the near future.
"next time we come back here we won't fit in this room" PLEASE i wanna see a car seat headrest the size of godspeed you black emperor. at least twice that size heck
This band's deceptive (and that's a good thing). They've got the beat, the catchy lyrics, the melodic riffs, but that's just for starters. It's the layers, the complexity, the twists and turns, the total command of their craft that ultimately blows you away.
Cheryl makes me feel so happy. I wish I didn't live all the way across the country so I could listen to her live. Her voice and personality are so calming
I really admire what this kid does. I was/am the quiet kid who now has a voice you must talk louDer than if you want to be heard!!! His courage and determination are a true inspiration...Thank You Bro!!! for being you and doing what you do...its not easy having an extremely unique voice that basically has a mind of its own. ROCK ON MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw them live at a music festival a couple weeks ago, and sadly they didn't play drugs with friends but they made up for it with the best possible live performance of Bodys. Definitely one of, if not the best live concert i've ever been to! If I had stayed in the mosh pits at the front I probably would've died. Never seen so many people per square feet in my life
let's take a moment to appreciate Ethan's talent!! what a great musician!!!!!!! he adds so much to Will's and so does everyone else in this performance
I started crying during sober to death because I love that song and it continues to be my favorite from twin fantasy from when he first released it to when the whole bands preforms it connects with me and makes me feel loved
Sober to Death / Powderfinger was transcendent wtf (just like the studio versions ofc), I love how they had different members provide different vocal lines ^_^ also why are they all so cute, they weren't afraid to let some of their personalities shine throughout the video!
The best part about this isn't just the music performance audio, but the sheer fun they are having when preforming. It adds so much to the energy of the performance.
Naked Giants supported and played with them on the EU tour and they were awesome. I met Grant (the guitarist) after the show, super down to earth guy. Definitely worth checking them out.
WOW. I just saw these guys last night when they opened for Interpol. I had seen one music video from them before but dayum after seeing them live and now looking at them more today, I am IN LOVE!
"audio mixers: andrew katz & will toledo" dang, that's swell. they are killing it every single time. everything that is amazing and beautiful in the world in a thirty seven-minute video. i hope i get to witness their amazingness live someday
Wow, 22:38 the supporting vocals in Sober to Death sound SO GREAT, now I don't want to go back to listening to the studio version ever again because this was immaculate. I felt all the emotions with this rendition and wow, very impressed to say the least
They had me at "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!" If the kids are covering Uncontrollable Urge then the kids are alright.
Is that Henry from Naked Giants on percussion? Edit: all the naked giants are here. That’s pretty sick cause I saw a show where they played together, I really like that they’re bros
As much as I am big fan of Car Seat Headrest, I'm not gonna lie that Will's speaking voice is a lot more intriguing than his singing voice. Dare I say he sounds effortlessly sexy. He should make a spoken word record in the vein of Laurie Anderson's oeuvre.
This is all really, really good. I love Sober to Death on the album, but the medley with Powderfinger is just incredible. I like watching the band grow and develop year by year on KEXP.
Initially thought i wasn't gonna make it 2-3 mins past their original material, but stayed intrigued the whole time. I think I may have liked this one.

this is so accurate lmao. when i met grant(stoner) he was sooooo high. im all of them combined so thats funny
thats literally the point it's a stereotype
dude this is so accurate haha
maybe nerd vocalist and drama kid guitar though
Helwood Blues :)
This live groups reminds me a lot of late Talking Heads. They expanded the band with extra drums and synths, plus Will isn't playing guitar anymore so he can do his weird dances.
so exciting to see this band evolve over time
they added on Naked Giants because theyre touring together. Its a great blend
I just saw them in Detroit and I thought myself Will reminded me of David Byrne
My pee pee huge
But with playing chops... so not so much like Talking Heads, come to think of it.
The KEXP host is so professional and knowleable of the bands, shout outs to her
Cheryl Waters is an American treasure!
Will Toledo owns one shirt
He owns 4
Just the one XD
But it's a good'un
only one change of clothes? he needs something soon

best job ever!!

Teens of Style
hmmmmmmm how to leave town is the best
I’m jealous. You get to listen to there stuff for the first time. Enjoy it
thanks I'm really enjoying teens of denial. I've heard some songs off Twin fantasy and teens of style which I've enjoyed.
Trust me listen to Twin Fantasy (2018 if ur more basic but the old one if you want a more raw sound)

He couldnt control it.

Download the app Tunein Radio you can listen on there, at least in the UK
Glad to see "My Boy" Will has finally hit puberty.
Watching him shake like a madman around 2:20 makes me so proud. I feel like a proud father.
In my mind, the drummer is a successful version of Jason Segel from Freaks and Geeks. Was amazing seeing them a second time in Bristol!
Thanks for reminding me of that show :) Such a shame it got cut short.
It was awesome :) At least we had the best of it!
Great comment! hahaha

I am McLovin this band!
this is completely mindblowing. how did you manage to make "Fill in the Blank", a perfect song, BETTER???????????
Seth is so _chill._ Will is our Warrior-Poet, Ethan is living the rock star life, Andrew is just having a ball, but Seth? _Chillin'_
Seth always looks like that one kid who got really high the night before and walked into the wrong classroom but stays because he likes the vibe
Fill in the Blank is an amazing song through and through but wow this performance blows away the album version
It’s crazy how much they have improved their live performances.
The addition of Naked Giants makes this performance so much more energetic than the last KEXP performance they did, it’s great!
Emily still loved Connect the Dots from the last performance though. It was such a highlight for me
YES! Was about to mention it! 100%
Connect the Dots was amazing in that performance!

Guess Will hasn't changed his shirt since the Fallon performance
AMPAChannel well, according to the description, this was BEFORE Fallon

I saw them live in dublin a few days after fallon and he wore that shirt
He had a black shirt in Englewood. Must've been in the washer that night.

wow. what an awesome band. feel like an idiot for never getting around to checking out these guys after hearing about em for so long.
I hope by the time they record their next album they stay at least a seven piece.
They were touring with Naked Giants which is why they’re playing with them but they recorded Making a Door Less Open with only the normal members :(
