One rule of the internet: you tell it what to do and it’ll do the exact opposite. UA-cam had it coming.

No website is safe to use which is why you should always be careful on them. I would atleast be more comfortable having my information be known by the U.S government than China. I’m not naive enough to pretend like we’re amazing or anything but none of my information posted on the internet is very useful. With that being said, please for the love of god, don’t over share your life on the internet you never know who’s looking.
Ever since the Patriot Act, nothing has beens the same. It’s amazing though the unassuming names they give to legislation.
As someone that works in IT, Every major company either sells or connect your Data, they have been doing this for decades, nothing new.
Yeah, Blizzard does it for money as well so I was not surprised. Blizzard has a whole team who literally just sell your data 😂.
Still sucks though
Yup it's true. That's why I'm not surprised by this if the government is involved in it.
The government isn't a company. Its an institution bound by specific law and constitutional amendments it needs to follow. This is not okay and its very much illegal, unconstitutional, and deeply concerning.
sure it's nothing new but the fact there giving to the federal government is a different story.
Wow, who could’ve predicted this?
I am shocked completely, never could see it coming, absolutely no idea
Wait till they see when the government becomes dangerously authoritarian, then people will be concerned about all that data that’s been gathered on them.
shiver me timbers, i am shocked by this news that i never saw coming from 100000 miles away
This is why I DON'T trust our government when it comes to regulating the internet.
IM NOT A BIG FAN OF THE GOVERNMENT

Not surprised tbh. When you’re on the internet, always assume your data is going to be given to higher authorities.
"As long as Your not doing anything bad why does it matter..."
people that say this should be ok with telling everyone everything they searched and watched
I mean, at face value it’s not a bad point. If you weren’t up to something nefarious your search and watch history shouldn’t be of much concern to you if it came to light.
But at the same time, privacy is important. For example, you wouldn’t want someone just snooping around your home looking for stuff, whether it be illegal material or not, because that’s YOUR stuff.
This whole story is comparable to the police raiding your home because somebody who was selling drugs in the area happened to walk by your property 3 days before being caught.
There's a term for these kinds of folks; Poltroon.
I usually ask them for their phone unlocked immediately after they say that. People are extremely hesitant to do so which proves my point.
You don't actually believe what you say, and you are just as uncomfortable as the rest of us, you just don't want to be confrontational.
Direct violation of the 4th amendment
Lol, the Constitution is a document. Enforcement comes from The People, & they're complicit and/or compliant
Yep, and nothing will be done to protect it.
I dont think yk what “unreasonable search and seizure” means my guy. 💀 its VERY reasonable to use data youtube collects (this is ALL by your consent, by the way) to catch someone who commits a crime.
You consent to it. Dont like it? Dont use youtube. Problem solved 🙂
US Government: Curiosity on the internet is probable cause for us to take your private information.

How can watching a video put you in danger of being harassed and watched by the federal government? First off the government is overreaching here as usual, second off why am I not surprised youtube has no respect for peoples privacy?
This video feels like it's stretching the truth.
It's the Red scare again. China and Russia are huge on cyberware and have infiltrated our network multiple times and were successful.
@@darkmatterman4500II I’m not sure but what I am sure of is both the federal governments and UA-cam’s lack of respect for its peoples privacy, that’s why I believe this because I know it’s something both of them would do.
@@mclovin2408 Dude, this isn't the first time Optimus would make videos designed to make people panic. The privacy issue is also a problem because if they can take the data of a baddie just due to "suspicion" of illegal activity, then they can just *suspect* you of maybe doing something illegal and harvest all of your data, and *conveniently* come across your embarassing search history or potentially coming across some other reason to believe you did something illegal and suddenly your being investigated for illegal activity for downloading a nintendo ROM

"Aww shii, here we go again." -CJ
This is crazy. I hope they know if they had the account of the criminal they can see his watch history right? So they violated everyone privacy for nothing and no reason. The government is at a tipping point they have been over reaching for too long and it's enough. They need to realize we have the right to privacy. I'm all for company's handing over information of suspects who are ACTUALLY revenlt in a case but giving innocent peoples data out for no reason is enough for me.

US judge: _... what the absolute f*****?_
Why am I learning this from the metroid mix guy 😭
My response to the argument of "Why are you worried about the government looking at your data, you haven't done anything illegal", is what I call the Underwear Drawer Principle. Yes, there is nothing bad or illegal in my underwear drawer. But you know what's in there? My underwear. I don't want everyone to see my underwear. It's PRIVATE for a reason.
Did anyone actually think they weren't?
Yeah, in other news, water is wet
Who would've thought Google, the company sued several times for stealing and selling information, would go and steal and sell information?

Have they learned nothing after the COPPA incident?
Thanks for covering this Optimus, I can't find anyone else on UA-cam who was covering this. Getting ip addresses of people just for viewing with no extra evidence that they were actually actively involved with the content in the video? I would like to believe this type of unreasonable collecting of information should be illegal.
Thats because it is illegal. But the government doesn't care
I mean... Considering the alarming number of Pædos in this website it doesn't surprise me, no one bit.
This is unacceptable.
They shouldn't be doing this bullcrap!!!
It honestly should be illegal to this kind of thing towards innocent users.
Edit:This is blatantly unconstitutional.
Edit2:I seriously hope that people aren't okay with this unconstitutional behavior. I seriously hope.

Everyone knew this was gonna happen, did you also know for every 60 seconds in africa, a minute passes in america?
The people that need to hear this story are so far gone mentally that they don't care, or don't want the "conspiracy theorists" to be right, so they ignore it.
Oh my, who would've thought...
UA-cam has been going backwards
If the government is gonma investigate someome on youtube, they should only be getting the data OF that PERSON only! Or at the very most people who are related to them in some way
But thousands of users data? Because they sre investigating one person?
I got an email about this from google last week saying that they gave my local government access to my account information.

You don't need to want anarchy to realize evils in an otherwise moral society.
No one said they want anarchy it’s about being innocent until proven guilty
Similar thing happened in 2015 to many motel 6 customers from a certain time period. The Washington state attorney general sued Motel 6 because they gave TSA information about innocent guests, such as me and my mom. She ended up getting $100 USD out of it.
But think about that, a hotel gave border officials all personal information of guests who stayed at a specific hotel during a specific time period and most were innocent!

The constitution may forbid the government from violating your speech directly, but nothing says they can get a non-governing third party to do it on their behalf.
