From the Shelf: 1961 Comet Bubble Top Kustom

Here’s what can happen when you take a meager Mercury Comet, cut it up, turn it around backwards and add a bubble top with a hat tip to Ed “Big Daddy” Roth. Watch how this model was built from concept to completion.

the Caddy in the beginning is a 62. I used to have one. it looks identical to the 61 but the 61 has round signal lights and not rectangular. beautiful build. thanks for sharing.

I really can't remember, my wife gave it to me. It was from some kind of packaging. I have all kinds of that kind of stuff.

Rear taillights on Comets were salvaged Edsel bits. Why let them go to waste?

The kit has two sets, I thought the custom versions were even cooler. The only thing really wasted was the roof, but a previous owner had crudely turned it into a hardtop. 😎
