Oh hell yes. I didn’t even know these existed! Very cool. Although I have the Kerry King signature Marshall and it’s intermittent at times. These are good tips. Thanks for sharing.
You have a red ant on your hand at 9:07 in!!! lol Also, the amp DOES have the bright cap in it! It's 4.7n, but on the PCB, not on the pot (C5)! All it needs is a Post-Tone Stack Master volume to control the amount of signal to the Phase Inverter and Power Section. The preamp with gains turned up will still distort, soo the ungodly loud sound is not necessary to get the goods and without an attenuator! :) Funny this amp shows carbon film resistors for the hum circuit, but amp I owned actually had metal film resistors! Soo, goes to say, there is a Bill of Materials, but Marshall does use whatever is available sometimes, so all amps not exactly equal!
@@PsionicAudio yeah. i thought it was on the pot also, then you said..no bright cap, else would be ungodly bright and I thought...what, it's on there when i blueprinted it 12 years ago. I looked at my original photos and like this amp....nothing on the pot!! I'm like wtf!?!? I looked at the BOM I put together and seen the 4n7 cap on C5 and then realized...it's on the ST1 PCB board, not the pot as typical!!! I'm sure Randy's was across the pot, but Marshall put it on the board for the tribute amp. Also interesting to note when blueprinting the Marshall amp is that besides the 68k dividers off the input to give 33k, Marshall also has 1.2k resistors in the shielded cable at the end attaching to the preamp socket! I believe the extra resistance and there is to keep down any kind of squealing or any artifacts that can arise without it, but most people would just think its the dividers and wire to the socket, but isn't! Was interesting to note when reversing it!!
@@PsionicAudio Yep. Actually, correction looking at pics...my balancing resistors were Metal Oxide, not Metal Film. The ones going to the grid were 1.2k (BRN/RED/BLK/BRN/BRN) and those were Metal Film, fyi.

I have a 1974 JMP SUPER LEAD 100 . I have a couple questions for you. First how is the Randy Rhoades JMP different from my amp that I use a Jimmy Jump , connecting the guitar into the top channel one input then using a patch cord to connect the bottom channel one Jack to the top channel two Jack. Second when I retubed it the second channel dropped out completely. I then checked the old tubes and in the number one preamp spot a pentode had been placed there. I had to get a pentode replacement as a 12AX7 would cause channel two to go dead. Once I got a pentode, which was designed for a microphone, the second channel returned to normal operation. I can’t remember the actual tube that is in the first position preamp off hand but the guy that I bought the amp from , said that it had been modified for more GAIN . I guess I don’t understand how you can get more gain with a pentode in the preamp when the schematic calls for a triode . Don’t you lose a gain stage?
@@PsionicAudio Thanks for the quick response. You seem to have a extremely complete knowledge of tube amplifiers, especially Marshall and Fenders from the early years , I was hoping that you would be familiar with the pentode in the first position MOD. NO. Randy started playing the Marshall's when he got with Ozzy and went to England and the money and production was large.
