- How to Guide to getting to Postiano on the Amalfi Coast (including a stop in the town of Amalfi). Know the right way before you go -there are several ways to get to Positano, Italy (via SITA bus from Sorrento, car service, etc). Taking the Travelmar ferry from Salerno is the best combination of speed and value. Only 1 hour and 15 minutes, the ferry is quicker than the bus or taxi and offers the best views. Getting to Positano is easy, leaving is much harder.

Warning: you cannot depend on the ferries. We were staying in Rome and planned to take the train to Salerno then ferry to Positano. This was in late September. My airbnb host contacted me the day before leaving to confirm arrival time. I told him we would be arriving by ferry and he informed me they had not been running for several days! No notification from ferry company! We had to scramble to arrange a ride from Naples (much easier to arrange then from Salerno) the night before departure. We kept the same train tickets (Rome to Salerno) but exited the train at Naples.

I'm glad it was helpful. As much as the winding roads of the Amalfi coast look great in movies, the bus ride can get quite scary. The ferry ride is usually calm and they sell drinks and snacks too! I hope you enjoy your visit.
@@imagiscope Yes !! I just read an article saying the bus ride especially in summer gets packed & hot 🔥🥵& go over a cliff & get scary 😨 !! Also ,to be prepared for motion sickness !! I was like no thanks !! Lol.😅

Thank you - if you are going to Positano, you are going to love it. Make sure you get to the beach at the Pupetto hotel (follow the ramp up from the pier).

Hi, just wondering if you know how often the ferry runs. We are there in April, just a week after Easter. Plan a day trip by ferry from Salerno to Positana and back later. So interested to know start and end times.
Go to www.travelmar.it for schedule. They were running about every hour or so.

How many days/months in advanced can I purchase the ferry tickets? I am planning to go to Positano mid-July, and there were no tickets found, not even for the month of May yet.
The site will be updated when the season starts, usually around April. You can purchase up to a few days in advance (they don't sell out online). Don't panic yet.
when booking the ferry from the port of Salerno, it gives me the option of Concordia Salerno or Manfredia? Im not sure which one
Concordia (the port is next to Piazza Concordia)

Usually purchases are made in the local currency (euro) - they will be converted on your credit card bill to your local currency. Depending on your card provider, there may be an additional currency exchange fee.

Check the www.travelmar.it website, but I believe there are about 6-8 trips to Positano and return back to Salerno each day during the summer season.
hi while searching fro a train station in Salerno i get two options Concordia or Manfredi can you please tell me which station is preferred
Concordia...closest to the train station...just walk out of station up the street to the sea and you are there (5 mins)

You can bring your luggage. They charge for each bag you bring. The boat will dock for a few minutes before sailing, so you can arrive about 10-15 before voyage. There is usually a line to board the boat.
