I installed the AMP Research Power Steps on my 2020 Rubicon Gladiator LE. I've had Zero issues with off-roading in Texas, Colorado, Arkansas and Tennessee. As long as you have a spotter and know how to select your lines, these steps will work as expected. If you have plans to rock crawl and put your skid plates/diff covers to through the ringer, then power steps probably aren't for you. But if you plan on going off-roading and not trailer your rig back home several hundred miles, then this is a great option.
Jeeperz Creeperz hey quick question I’m about to get ready to do my install but when you mean the jeep side you are talking about the plug that stays in the jeep right when you detach the door
Do they work in the ice and snow in the winter? Do they freeze up? Does the motor have protection in case the linkage is frozen? I've cut my wheel wells about 1" at the front of the rear tires in the back to accommadate 39" krawlers, How long are the rails? Can I trim them if needed or are they short enough that no trimming is needed.
For that instance where they will be exposed to conditions of snow / ice / mud we would recommend the extreme series. They are equipped with a more aggressive extrusion and feature quad motors to handle the added weight in those situations and abuse. The motors are Bosch units and have covers to protect them. To keep linkages in good working conditions, simply pressure washing them from time to time will help ensure extended operating life. Give us a call and we'll set you up!
I've got a mostly offroad jeep so I decided to go with a rock slide engineering sliders gen2. They offer more offroad protection than the amp research steps and I like how the actuator is completely protected from the elements. Going to order soon looking around for the best price, can you beat 4wheelparts price? The part number I'm looking at is BD-SS-201-JK4 (JKU 4door with armor)
Hello sir, My sister has a really nice Jeep. It is custom and is a great look. She has been having electrical problems in which the boards do not extend out. Battery Dead! when needed, she activate the wipers and the dash dims, car radio dims, and the dash flickers. The problem started when the floor boards were installed. Any advise from you Sir, would be appreciated or anyone in the community. BTW she has been taking the Jeep back to where she had the floor boards installed and several times my sister was informed that it was repaired, but same problem reoccurs. Thanks
Looks like you only installed one of the LEDs. Was there a reason for that? Instructions show two LEDs per side. Asking because I got the XTreme set and cannot follow install instructions regarding the LED (instructions say install on front, which is also where the motor is. Looks like you went behind, which is what I also ended up doing.
The Amp steps are nice for street cruising duties. If you are going to spend much time off road, check out the RSE side steps: ua-cam.com/video/-wurZkScimc/v-deo.html
I just used YOUR video to install my boards on my 2011 JK. Thanks! I am posting a video tonight on my channel and giving you a huge shout-out for recording this. No way I could've recorded it all. I had to take my old "static" steps off first - and that took forever, because I had LEDs on em. I had to do extra wiring for the LEDs that I already had on there, but the process you recorded is FLAWLESS! Worked like a charm the first time thru. THANK YOU, and please sub my page and like the video I'm tagging you in, brotha!
@Brandon, That JK has an Icon 4.5" stage 2 lift and 37" BFG KO2. www.northridge4x4.com/part/4-5in-lifts/k24002-icon-vehicle-dynamics-4-5-suspension-lift-system-stage-2 www.northridge4x4.com/part/tires/12987-bfgoodrich-all-terrain-t-a-ko2-37x12-50r17-lt-tire
These automatic running boards work great on mall jeeps but not worth anything to actual off roaders. Go on Rubicon trail then see how well they work when u get down.
These are definitely for the mild crowd. We do have other steps and rocker guards for those needing something with more beef. www.northridge4x4.com/scp/exterior/armor/rockers-sliders

This is great. My driver side rail is not returning to the closed position. What is the problem?
Mines went out with in the 1 year of having it. What I didn’t like it makes a loud noise when it comes back up and drops ...
Yup waste of Money! After it went through some mud and dust the motor just gave out!
Any idea what the can wires on a 2007 jeep wrangler jk are???
Why do they come down while stop at a light
With the system, are you able to remove the doors with no problem?? Or would wire still be connected to the door?
ClayDayz you have to attach the activation wire to the other side (jeep side not the door side)of the wire harness to be able to remove the doors

Do you have a switch to bypass power board? When I take off doors it doesn't work.
Conrad Baron all you have to do is get the steps where you want it and pull the fuse. You can also wire it to switch if desired.
