These crooks should be fined for trespassing & intimidating the elderly. You guys do a wonderful thing. I’m not elderly but I’m disabled and not able to do everything around my home. That patch must have been a reminder every day of what he can’t handle himself anymore. You literally took the shame away
Unfortunately there are some people that don’t care.
That “free” demonstration test patch would of only been the start of it if they said yes to them. Next it will be the gutters, then while they are up there you need a roof etc. And it will all be “cheaper” for cash. People like that are just thieves who carry out part of a service for extortionate prices and only prey on the vulnerable. There are no words to describe my contempt for these individuals

Actually there is a special place in my brother in-laws farm shed for people like that. He has much fun teaching them "manners" over a week or so. The cops turn a blind eye so everyone wins

My Mother-in-law passed away 2 months shy of her 100th birthday. Mind was sharp and with her walker she was very mobile. Hop I can say the same if I get up there.

@@LeighB420majority of the time it's travellers, they're a protected minority unfortunately. Not all of them are like it, some are professional.
It’s not just the elderly it’s everyone who is stuck at home who needs help. I’m disabled now and before when I could keep up with maintenance no one knocked on my door unless they saw me outside and they were doing a job next door, now they knock all the time and constantly ask you to at least let them quote because you can’t say you don’t want anything done without me quoting…. I might be able to give you a price that fits… forgetting that I may not want it done or can’t afford it no matter what the price because benefits don’t cover that sort of cost
I cannot express how scary it can be, as an older person, to have someone come to your door and hound you for some job. You may have given them a beautiful cleaning, but you have now also provided some peace for them. And your dad clucking just had me in stitches!!! lol Your family outro was adorable, those memories last a lifetime!

I thought the same, he had some next to him, assume he needed more grip for some of the weeds. His hands must be tough as nails, as I would never do that pulling stuff out of masonry.

@@dh2032they're making the patio look really obviously dirty by providing contrast of an unwanted patch. Now every time he steps outside his house he'll be reminded of both the dirt and the unpleasant interface. It's a really crappy thing to do

taken advantage of similarly and the distress it can cause, equally seen kindness too.

If anyone came and did a test patch on my drive without asking they would be the last people I’d ever consider to do the work. By the way legally I’m sure you would have been okay to clean his side of the neighbours fence as long as you didn’t damage it. I suppose it’s best to be cautious.
the base of that fence would probably crumble if you looked at it wrong 😅 i’m guessing that’s why they left it!

I know how they feel. I’ve had people come to my door asking to replace my windows several times. I’m about to put up a big sign that says: No need to bother me. My contractor son-in-law replaced my windows a year ago! 😃

As a rugby forward (Ret’d), I happily put the run to pesky door knockers. Except for kids collecting bottles for their team uniforms or Girl Guides selling cookies (my wife and both daughters were Guides). As John Pinette used to say: “Oooh! I think you’re going to win the sales contest this year!” Shame on lowlifes who target seniors. Another sparkling clean.

Glad you were able to help Derrick and Grace! They've been through the mill and I'm sure they've been filled with dread every time there's a knock on the door. Nobody should have to live with all that - damage to their property, threats, repeated harassment. It's so damaging to the health, both mental and physical. Everyone deserves to feel safe in his or her own home.
Not only did you give them a beautifully weeded and cleaned drive and walls, you returned their peace of mind and a feeling of safety. And that's priceless.

As someone who actually went to the small claims court to make someone pay for their shoddy work, and won, but the person "disappeared" so he is probably still ripping off people as he did my parents!! Then just put this all over the paving. It gets so salty nothing will grow and I can confirm it works as I do it with my drive & get no weeds any more!

They are a lovely couple and even before their drive way was cleaned they looked like they had a lot of house pride doing what they could to maintain their garden so they are very deserving.
