- Country Road Launch Control (0-100 km/h) & 100-200 km/h Autobahn acceleration with the 2023 / 2024 BMW G70 740d xDrive with 300 hp & 670 Nm of torque. Of course this car isn't a racer but our drive impressively shows that the entry level Diesel is a great choice for this car. Holy crap that interior looks like a nightclub! 300 hp and 670Nm of torque...I think it's pretty decent for a car focused on luxury and not with sportiness as its main goal.
Yeah but F01 2012-2015 had 313 horses and was like 0.4 second faster than G70

Heck, I know it's not the same category of cars, but comparing the W205 C63S, 510-hp Twin Turbo V8, with the 680-hp W206 C63S...newer one has nearly 200 hp more but weighs...what, half a ton more? Damn hybrid system negates any power advantage.
And let's not forget the downsizing...dropping from a 4.0L twin turbo V8 to a 2.0L Turbo inline-4...

The stability and low noise at high speeds is amazing. Acceleration in "real world" conditions 5.6s very good for what it is. But that interior when you were driving in the autobahn...isn't it a bit distracting? I know you can change it but the mode you had on is a bit too much for me.

I drove one of the mercedes Benz cars with this latest ambient lighting or whatever those colourful interior lights are called. If you're used into driving you forget about how beautiful they are and focus on the road ahead of you.
Seems like a very nice car for the autobahn. Controversial looks of the exterior are completely compensated by the interior imo. Feels really cozzy with all of this ambient lighting inside. And since it's diesel economy won't kill you I guess.
The interior isn't that bad, but looks too poshy to me.
@@professionaldriver77878 it is supposed to be. Getting an M550d/M5 is a better alternative at that price point (of a loaded 7 series) if that is what you think of this.
Mein aktueller ist ein 730d G11 *ohne* x-Drive. Gutes Ansprechverhalten, ausreichend Bums untenrum, dreht schön aus, fährt sich dank Integral-Aktivlenkung (für diese Fahrzeugklasse) unglaublich dynamisch, fährt auch absolut stabile und gelassene 260 km/h, kann mit unter 5l/100 km bewegt werden und hab schon über 1.450 km auf einen Tank bewerkstelligt. In meinen Augen sind die 7er richtige Alleskönner, von Sport bis Komfort bei maximalem Luxus
Es verwirrt mich nur dass ein 40d jetzt nur noch 300ps statt 340ps hat… und im X5 hat der 30d doch schon 290ps. Irgendwie inkonsistent.
From what I have heard this is the 30d engine, its just the naming scheme that changed with the new model

Its actually rising. This is basically 730d but for marketing purposes theyve changed the name to 740d.

It sounds higher leveled. Because a 30d you can also get in a 3 series or 5 series. It’s all about the marketing
@@lw2537 5 series also gets 40d, and 7 series also had the 40d already. I think the difference is single turbo (normally 30d) vs twin turbo (normally 40d). So the single turbo is now called the 40d on the 7er. At least what I found on wikipedia a couple days ago.
@@CasparPietersen The 30d is twin turbo since 286ps update. Their naming does not make any sence at all anymore and imo its very difficult to keep track of all the changes they are making. I mean i hate the car in general but i think BMW is well and truly ruining their legacy.

The interior isn't even that bad, but it's unappealing. Soulless. Exterior, especially the front grille is horrible. When you see it in live, it's even worse. Last generation (G11/G12) was the final proper 7er.
Nope G11/G12 was overrated due to its sportiness that people actually want in a big car, which makes the reason the w223 being an overrated S class,sporty in a sense that it doesn’t feel like a bank vault like the w221 and w222, S class may look better but it’s interior quality is such an eyesore with the plastics it has inside the interior, and most importantly, shit reliability unlike the old Mercedes which brings their reputation of “reliable luxury”

@@seansiew5629 W223 is also a disaster. W222 was pretty decent, probably one of the best looking ones. For cockpit and overall quality I can agree. But it's a Michelangelo compared to the new W223. Same goes with G11 against this G20, or whatever it is.

Well, I think BMW should grab all of this technology and put it to the E38 shape. That would be a winner. Current design is clearly tailored for the Chinese market, no need to offer it to us mere Europeans.

exterior design, nah, i dont really like it, interior, its nice but it could've been nicer with a proper analog dash rather than this colorful dash which i didnt really like to be honest, but overall if some asks me if i prefer this or the old one i'm definitely taking the old one because thats the last true 7 series to me, the one that has been built by gentelmen who have such a nice taste in luxury and design.

if its 740i, especially its a B58 engine, tuning possibilities are endless, with a tune B58 can hit 450-500hp depending on which variant of the B58

Das Exterieur ist grässlich, ich weiss nicht wie man das bei BMW durchwinken konnte. Zu der Leistung: schon lange keine 6-Zylinder BMW Limousine gesehen, die so Mühe hatte die 250 zu knacken. Interieur auch sehr unruhig - nur weil man etwas kann, heisst das nicht, dass man es auch machen sollte :)
Könnte mir keinen James Bond mehr in einem 7er vorstellen...

The huge problem with bmw and all brands is is that china is their main market and the Chinese like Swarovski and Xmas balls hanging all over..I mean for god's sake people. Look at this mastodon.. actually I don't know where to look anymore..it's all over the place. Luckily MB stays abit more with feet in the ground but BMW totally lost it. Just to satisfy the Chinese customers 😢

Engine is way too weak if you use it as a drivers car. If you take your seat in the back... it is perfect. Comfy, silent and smooth. But as a drivers car, i would like to have a V8, 4Liter with at least 450PS and 900nm. Everything above 10 sec. 100-200 is not satisfying as a daily.... but that's only my 50 cents
its a limousine not a sport car. its used to do long trip with great comfort. performance is very good for everyday driving and overtake easily

Amazing stability, very quiet at high speed, great range. This car remembers me why I shouldn't own an electric car. This BMW is quiet, it uses very few fuel and it has 3x the range of any electric car
but it’s still a sluggish diesel in an expensive outfit and would still cost more to run

@@hardywoodaway9912 no one buys long and expensive luxury car for performance, especially if its not the "performance" version. The drivetrain of those cars are amazing, there is examples running well over 300k kms.
For the people wondering why it dropped 40hp from the last 740d model, this is the single turbo 30d engine. The naming scheme is just different on this generation.

I'd go for this one cos it's a diesel and it's got enough power to take you there. It's my 520d that made me understand that I don't need a super car or a sports car as it had more that enough power for what it is. And this one is way more powerful than my 520d and I guess it's a better choice than its petrol and electric siblings. It does 0-100 km/h in 5.61 while my e60 520d does it in 8.5 seconds so from my point of view this cruise ship is way quicker than my 520d by a very big margin.
it has much better efficiency than your 15year old 5 series. Plus more torque, horsepower and a better gearbox etc. . So even if it might weight more, these are the reasons why such stats are possible.

Acceptable acceleration up to 100 km/h considering 300hp fighting against 2.3 tons. Beside the whole luxus on board, this car is just ugly in my eyes. Seeing the display makes you feel watching avatar....
The diesel is always the best choice in brands like Mercedes Benz, BMW Audi etc
