Update: This car was totaled in February 2023. A deer ran into the front side of my car then rolled over the hood/top of the car. Driver's side airbags deployed, front steering wheel airbags did not. I went to the NHSTA website to make a report about the airbag failure and my VIN# couldn't be found so they asked me to call in. The NHSTA agent said she'd never experienced a VIN# not coming up in the system and said the only explanation would be that the manufacturer didn't report the VIN# to NHSTA. This is a huge deal because NHSTA regulates consumer complaints and initiates investigations which lead to recalls. So, if your VIN# isn't in the system, you won't be notified of problems that arise with your vehicle.

Same issues when I got my 2021 Camry brand new. Body panels unaligned and scratched each other on bumps, to the point of rust. Lots of interior noise and rattles from all the cheap plastics. Won’t be buying a Toyota anymore.

This is why you only buy toyotas imported straight from japan (prius, rav4 prime, 4runner, 86). You will pay a lot more for those cars but it is totally worth it. I have all made in japan 2022 mazda cx9 I do not have quality control issues like yours.

I thought I was alone with these problems. My apex has been in two times for alignment.and once for a creaking noise that happen when I hit a bump or go up a driveway. Dealership said they had to realign the door. Now I have to close the door to hard to close. My 2002 civic had way better build quality even with it being 21 years old should have kept it.

Hi! Came across this video I can stand by you and say that the corollas from japan are built with much stricter guidelines. I have the EXACT same problems. I to bought a 21 corolla se had zero complains. After a year of owning it I decided to trade it in for the apex as I thought it would be much nicer. However I noticed the same trunk lid gap issue as yours and the door being difficult to shut. The other thing I noticed where the clips on my front bumper had failed and caused a gap by the driver side headlight. It’s a shame finding out you can’t even trust the assembly of a vehicle in the US. Anyways good luck I hope you can fix all the issues.

That's not what I meant by my post. The point is, Toyotas built in Japan have much superior quality than Toyotas build elsewhere. For example, the car in the video was built in Mississippi. I now have a 2023 Corolla that was built in Japan and there is simply no comparison in quality.

This is why I don't mess with new cars
I'd rather buy an ls400 and know I got a super reliable car
I personally think you should just dump it and buy a 90s Corolla or Camry i4 you will have next to no issues or problems
Ever since Japanese auto manufacturers started making their cars in USA plants they are horrible
Definitely don't mess with it especially with a cvt transmission.
I would buy a late 90s Toyota Camry with the inline 4 cylinder and the manual transmission but the automatics were extremely tough too
Hopefully you can figure out these issues

At the time this video was made, the car was about 4 weeks old and it was purchased brand new. The "mess" in my car was literally two purses, a water jug, a cup in the cup holder and toothbrush. 🤣 Are you actually saying that aggressive driving would cause the body parts to misalign on a new car, a 4 cylinder front wheel drive automatic Corolla at that....really? 😂 You obviously didn't listen to what was said in the video because the wheel alignment and body panel issues were discovered on the day it was purchased new from the dealership. And after numerous repair attempts by the dealership they still couldn't fix the issues. Maybe next time you decide to comment on a video, you should listen to the information stated in the video first so people don't question your intelligence.

#1) Door problem: You need to clean your door jams. Your car door jams definitely looked dirty. So the door will not close and open perfectly because the door jambs, and the rubber seals are dirty and sticky. You need to clean and wipe them down. Wipe down the entire door jam and the entire rubber seal around the entire doors. Do this to all 4 doors. #2a) Have your car's alignment done at a place that has been doing alignments for over 50 to 60 years. The older mechanics are better than the younger mechanics. 2b) You also need to have the tires rotated too. While you drove the car with the alignment off for a while, the tires were worn out and are out of proper shape causing the tires to wear unevenly. Rotate those tires. If the dealership can not repair the whole in your seat, then take the seat to an upholstery shop. You will have to do some homework and make phone calls to find a shop that does upholstery. If the car was totaled in February 2023, then there will always be problems with the car....

I'm in hopes that the XSE Apex is of better quality. Something to note: Toyota has officially discontinued the Apex. It was only produced in 2021 and 2022, with only 6000 units produced each year. So, there are only 12,000 of these in existence. One could look at it as a collector opportunity or, one could ask why the haulted production. I can only speak on my experience, trading a 2021 SE made in Japan for the 2022 Apex made in Mississippi. I stand firm on the fact the quality of my Japanese made SE is far superior to my current Mississippi made 2022 Apex. It doesn't even feel like I'm driving the same brand car. So many differences...radio sound quality, interior dash construction material....even down to the fabric from which the headliner, floor boards, and seats are made. And, to date, 2 Toyota dealerships have yet to determine the cause of my alignment issues. The SE was so smooth. The Apex I currently own, however, isn't suitable for an infant. The bumps and suspension are so bad that drinks in my console slosh out repeatedly and, people have vowed to never ride in my vehicle again.

I got my 6 speed manual 2022 Apex in November. All my doors and trunk are aligned but the doors are a bit hard to close. i thought it was because the car was air tight. When a window is open they close better. i also had to do the alignment 3 months after and i only took it in because i hit a huge pothole. My main complain on the car is the stiff ride, the "sports tuned suspension" sucks. In fact i want to change them when i can, maybe air shocks or something else, any suggestions?
