@@Adamas_83 Well there are a lot of graves in there. So one big stone plate that looks like a warmamorial with all the names on it won't be to distracting. Maybe with a statue for the imperial legion on top. That totally fits in.
OMG I hope to see your interpretation of Shivering Isles! That expansion is 50% of why I loved Oblivion so much! I love the guests, the writing of the characters and the locations left a big impact on me. Funny thing, when I replayed it recently, you know, about 15 years later, I was surprised the world environments felt incredibly barren, lol.
Really appreciate Rebelzize's spartan approach to developing this. So many mod projects, and frankly so many actual games, die on the vine because developers are just like "Look at all of these cool ideas I have!" and then the project completely loses focus. Scope creep is especially bad in game development, because so much of it is trying to maintain engagement and entertainment (literally a whole section of game development is devoted to "finding the fun"). If the leadership here wasn't so focused purely on just the absolute essentials of Skyblivion, I guarantee this project would never release, never mind the fact that it wouldn't be so close to completion as it is now. Kudos, guys.
Connecting this to a fundraiser/charity is such a wonderful idea. No matter how the project ends up, good things came of it- and that is a fantastic thing, keep at it guys! I will be so excited to play this when it releases as someone whos first full rpg playthrough was oblivion.

edit: turns out the rocks were meant to be grass, but they're bugged! ^_^ original comment: all these rocks in the middle of mountain paths are kinda an eyesore. also sometimes they looked like they got placed almost in a line. rocks on paths that are actively used tend to be "naturally" kicked to the sides. unless they're parts of big rocks "sprouting" out from the ground and being too grounded to be moved, like in mountain paths. but these rocks I mentioned look like small-ish round rocks that are just there on he surface. if they meant to be rocks sprouting from the ground, then maybe consider adding rubble/gravel at their base. it could improve their look, imo.

For the map I like the search feature, but additional suggestions I'd love are filtering locations by list of major cities, ruins, Forts, caves, specific guilds etc Also an option to save a list of favorite locations (maybe 10) that you frequently return to without having to constantly search or navigate map to get back to.

This finna be amazing. What I find more amazing than the mod itself is the insane amount of work that went behind it. Each modder should have their own shrine/location somewhere on the map that has like, custom items, weapons and other things that relate to their life, as a sort of tribute. Like, they could be similar to the Dragon Preists (like a random boss encounter), but be designed to look like the modder or a certain fictional character the modder likes, and they drop a custom weapon, armour and other stuff that's a testament to said modder, who they are and different things they like etc. It would also be cool of they were well hidden and secret, so they're technically hard to find easter eggs with cool weapons that were custom-made by the modders. Tbf, I always think one thing modern games lack are secrets, old games had so many, but it's a rare thing nowadays. I hope this is full of them!
Question: Were you in trouble with the Bruma Guard because of Sanguine's quest in Leyawiin? If so, could you not do like Skyrim with its holds and have every county be its own crime faction? That way Cheydinhal guards don't arrest you for something you did in Anvil, for example, which never made sense to me and why I was so happy with how crime was handled in Skyrim.
Since they’re trying to be faithful to the original game, I think they might not use the Skyrim system. However someone will undoubtedly release a mod with the hold-based crime system soon after Skyblivion is released

And undoubtedly, since that system is already in place for Skyrim, and they're using Skyrim's engine/Creation Kit, it's probably easier to do so than trying to reconstruct Oblivion's system from scratch.
Looking forward to this to release since it is closer to being done .Morrowind is still my favorite of the ES games though Can't wait to get a release date for Skywind. That being said looking forward to both love the work and dedication put in both projects.
Its looking amazing, but the finer details is to work on the LOD or distance rendering level of detail to prevent such abrupt pop ons that oblivion had, and make it smoother with skyrims smoother LODs system. But that should be priority and just polish after

I've been following from a distance for years so you may have talked about this, but have you guys reached out to the YASH2 mod creator about using the code for combat and leveling mechanics? It's incredibly in-depth and has a few similarities to what Oblivion had (in terms of proficiencies). The leveling was my favorite part of Oblivion, and YASH2 does it extremely well, and since it's already a Skyrim mod, I was wondering if it could be seamlessly integrated or maybe get the creator's involvement? @@kianschoeman6574 hard disagree, animation packs are all over the place for the skyrim base game and it would take little to nothing to get them added and it would set the game apart from skyrim enough to make the world more believably an overhaul for oblivion and not just oblivion flavored skyrim
I'm excited for this, so many good things shown off in the stream, and I don't mean to be negative, but I personally don't like the design of the glass armor. It just looks like green iron armor as opposed to the glass armor from oblivion or skyrim.
This is a remake not a remaster I know I sound super 🤓☝️ rn but I think remakes are way cooler than remasters and deserve the proper credit for the effort put into them A remake is where they build the whole game from the ground up from scratch A remaster is where textures resolution and sometimes frame rate are improved for modern systems it's a far less grueling task than a remake
So how does magic work? Is it like skyrim, where it takes up a hand? Or have you guys managed to implement Oblivion's magic (ie being able to cast a spell even though you have a sword and shield equipped)? And is spellmaking included?
Not a fan of the amount of fog, or the blur effect. I also would want it to be less dark and dingy because that's not Oblivion. Oblivion is the opposite of Skyrim and this feels more like the latter. But apart from that this looks insane, incredible work and I can't wait to play it. Oblivion was my first 360 title and I completed it again a few years ago. The atmosphere is magical it's like a perfect world and the story of basically defeating the devil is so much fun minus the hell gates. F them gates.
They always do. The difference is a mod team doesn't have any limitations since they're on PC and have like 10+ years of dev time. Bethesda has to code for the lowest code base like the series S for example which is very limiting. And they have a time limit cause they can't spent 10+ years on a game, they jump from game to game and only get around 5 ish years. Their biggest issue though is they reach too far and sometimes don't deliver because of the contraints I mentioned. I get wanting to give it all for their games but they need to be more focused on exactly what they want to accomplish. They throw too much at their games. Which when it works it's great, when it doesn't well you know. It's important too remember they're not rockstar, they have way way less devs and work with a much much smaller budget. They're still a big company but people always overestimate how big they are.

Considered time and effort put in, you guys could have been created entirely new RPG game, with knowledge and imagination of so many years into such games as Morrowind, oblivion. Like, very very cool medieval RPG

Yeah but this going to be better. The only reason Bethesda would want to release remasters now, after being against it in the past, is because they'll use the goodwill generated from those previous titles to try and sell you CC MTX in the remasters. Meanwhile this mod has lovingly recreated and improved the original game, and will be built upon by other mod authors and the community when it releases. Honestly, seems like an easy choice in my eyes as to which remaster of Oblivion I'll play. And regardless, the original is still there, it's still good, it's still being added to by the modding community. I'm literally playing it right now for the first time, with a few mods thrown in, and having a blast.

I just saw an article with a "leak" from Bethesda. Dunno it is true or not. But it stated that Oblivion is getting a Remaster and will be released next year. I know yours will better. It's a non-corporate cash grab vs something meticulously crafted with love. I mean I will prob buy it because it is Oblivion, but I still want to play yours. I hope they don't do anything to prevent your release...
Nothing was "leaked", the Oblivion Remaster is based on a court document that was published as part of Microsoft acquisition of Bethesda. But the document is from 2020 aka before COVID and many dates are no longer accurate e.g. Starfield was planned for 2021 and the Remaster for 2024. If the Remaster is really (still) developed it will most likely be delayed till 2025/2026.

The "load all saves" in skyrim will show you saves that are typically hidden if you select a character save instead....
Regular oblivion still looks great besides close ups of npcs in my opinion
i think what would really really sell this world is a new set of animations for walking and fighting to sort of detach it from skyrim

Suggestion: Regarding the unique Hackdirt cavern assets, why not have them retextured a bit and use them for caverns in the Deadlands?

For the inventory menu are you bringing back the clipboard? I remember Oblivion's menu was a clipboard kinda like fallouts menu is the pipboy. I thought it was a good idea, so I hope you bring it back
Trouble is Bethesda is coming out with a Oblivion remaster this year. It got leaked on a share holders call.

Still just a rumour. It's true plans were discussed about it, but there's nothing anywhere showing it was ever started.

The only reason Bethesda would want to release remasters now, after being against it in the past, is because they'll use the goodwill generated from those previous titles to try and sell you CC MTX in the remasters.
Meanwhile this mod has lovingly recreated and improved the original game, and will be built upon by other mod authors and the community when it releases.
Honestly, seems like an easy choice in my eyes as to which remaster of Oblivion I'll play.
And regardless, the original is still there, it's still good, it's still being added to by the modding community. I'm literally playing it right now for the first time, with a few mods thrown in, and having a blast.

Graphics needs enhancement. Collision detection needs improvement. Animations need fine tuning. Ahh the development cycles are too much fun!

I just saw an article with a "leak" from Bethesda. Dunno it is true or not. But it stated that Oblivion is getting a Remaster and will be released next year. I know yours will better. It's a non-corporate cash grab vs something meticulously crafted with love. I mean I will prob buy it because it is Oblivion, but I still want to play yours. I hope they don't do anything to prevent your release...
Nothing was "leaked", the Oblivion Remaster is based on a court document that was published as part of Microsoft acquisition of Bethesda.
But the document is from 2020 aka before COVID and many dates are no longer accurate e.g. Starfield was planned for 2021 and the Remaster for 2024.
If the Remaster is really (still) developed it will most likely be delayed till 2025/2026.
