- The Most Unique Lumber on the Internet with the Frontier OS27 Sawmill
The inspiration for this build came from Holz Hesener. He build beautiful columns on his woodmizer. Here is a link to his channel. Thank you sir.

Ilike it very interesting great video
Thank you kindly Rodney.
Really cool
Thank you.
That is freakin' cool!
@@kenskinner2805 thank you.
Can't wait to see what you build with these!!
No idea what I'm doing with them lol.
@@BigelowWoodcraft my first thought was to use something like that to build a deck. Adds a cool factor.
Very interesting concept. A little tweeking and itll be perfect. Great work
@@johnk.3593 thank you John. I have some ideas. Have a great week
You never seice to amaze me Jerry. Can't wait to see it when you get the bugs worked out 😀
@@user-fv2yc7bf6w thank you. It was a fun project. I'll get it worked out. Have a great week.
Johnny Carson. That is some weird wild stuff.
I’m thinking that could be a money maker right there.
You’re like a mad scientist Jerry.
Cool!
Thank you Terry. It's pretty unique that's for sure. Johnny Carson was my every night after the 11pm news when I was in college. Have a great week.
Hey Jerry , This is the coolest thing I have seen it milling . Never seen anything like it .
@@inthebackyardwithdel438 thank you Del.
As your log was turning and the blade cutting, my first thought was pressure on the blade. Turning logs while cutting will add more new ideas. Keep up the awesome work. Your creativity is paying off.
Thank you. Wasn't sure exactly what would happen but had a pretty good idea.
Damn Jerry that’s cool as 💩. Your ingenuity has no bounds.
You should have a Frontier sponsorship.
Amazing work buddy ‼️
I've reached out to them with no avail. Thanks for the kind words. Have a great week buddy.
Ok, now I need to find logs and figure out what I can do with it. That is awesome.
@@Concealed1911 sounds good lol. Let's do it
That’s pretty wild. I would of never thought it would have done that without breaking a blade. I’m sure you can make some good money make those.
I have to work a few bugs out of it but I'll definitely custom cut these for someone if they would like. Thanks for the kind words. Have a great week.
In the teaser video, I thought you were manually turning the cant and I could not imagine being precise enough to be consistent, but with your drive system, the sky is the limit!!! Adding a router holding bracket allows twisted rope or vines!! Pre-loading back pressure should help with backlash. It looked like the fourth cut had either the indexing or the timing off, but that you'll dial in with a little trial and error. A twisted Pentagon or Hexagon might not be as aggressive and look very cool!!! All in all, great work Jerry!!
What you suggested for columns is in my head as well. Yeah I think it was the back slop loaded the wrong way. Plus I'm using a love joy to couple the shafts and the rubber spider gear compresses so far that it adds to the back slop. I'm thinking of a more solid coupler. I'll get it worked out. Thanks for the kind words.
You are right, it looks just like the 4x4's I saw at home depot 😁🤣 Had to say it to get it out of my system! Would like to see how you got the rotation and sawhead travel to sync.
@@southernadirondackoutdoors absolutely lol. I've bought worse. I attach the chain to the carriage. I'll show it in a future video. Thanks for the comment. Have a great one.
What'll they think of next? Or you, in this case. I'd like to see how you've coupled log roatation with mill travel.
I'll definitely show how I do it. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Have a great week.
That is very cool! Once you get the bugs worked out your engineering mind is going to make some cool stuff. The only problem I see is the slab wood. It looks like it will be harder to handle, cut and stack? I'm guessing that a twisted beam might be stronger. Maybe this is something you can test.
Thanks. I have several ideas for different columns. I just have to get the bugs worked out. It's almost there.
That is slick. But I think you may also be onto something else with regards to a cant maker? Have a similar setup that rotates the log exactly 90 degrees to cut a conventional cant without the strain of manually rotating the log. No motor or gears required. Just a configuration that rotates exactly 90 degrees and locks the log firmly. What do you think?
I've already thought about that. I'm sure that will work. This set up I can make any polygon without twisting as well. Great comment. Thank you.
I know you won’t like to hear this but I’ve seen videos on UA-cam doing the same thing.
@@littlefarmerisaac7675 I've only seen Holz doing it. That's cool if others are doing. No problem at all for me. I appreciate the comment. Have a great week.
