This one of the moments where emotion takes over. I - as a lead guitarist - would love to play simple chords just to be allowed to play on this song. I would decline any lead ambitions just to be part of such uplifting music...

she wasn't acting like she loved the band anymore. she started touring without them and with her husband, and she even canceled a sold out concert so she could hang out with her friends and go to the movies. Read the open letter tuomas wrote. it has more details.

@ISeeAnIdiot I know they were sued by Marcelo because of the book seeming to blame him for everything. But I didn't hear any details about the others that were sueing. Well, I mean, I understand not wanting to say it to her face, plus they didn't have time to- she didn't stay for the concert afterparty and was leaving soon. But at the same time, don't do that after a great concert like that. They could have waited so they could tell her in person.

Nightwish is Tuomas, he created the band he writes lyrics and music, he put his heart in all of it.

@ISeeAnIdiot No, you need to be observant. Both the 8 disc "Lokikirja" booklet and on the back of the Century Child booklet, say that the music was by both Tuomas and Emppu. The book, "Once Upon a Nightwish" has a quote by Tuomas saying he wrote the lyrics to it right after being cussed out by a guy in a bar, who didn't like how Tarja was treated in the band (pages 165-166).
I didn't mean to make it seem like I'm saying the lyrics were about her, I more mean it was written because of her.

Well, there is a lot of material Pre-Tarja... If they only sang the new album it wouldn't be ideal all the time would it? Using older songs is a good thing, I think. Anette is the way forward for Nightwish... whether the fanbase like it or not - Nightwish's decision after all. Old songs give them a greater repertoire and a greater overall sound.

The reason they got rid of Tarja is this ,,, "sony entertainment copyright of this video" , look at millions of views from Anette songs compared to couple millions from Tarja, why , simple, Sony Entertainment bought them, they required they get rid of gotic Tarja for metal Britney Spears Anette and they would give them exposure, publicity and money, in other words, they sold out to Sony .
dont be so strict.I think that Marcelo acted way worse than Tuomas.I dont know if you are aware about the questions of fans, that Marcelo answered in Tarja's forum after she was kicked out.I read all of his answers.Marcelo didnt have a single reason to answer to these questions.Only Tarja had to answer.You dont know if what Marcelo said about Tuomas' lust for Tarja was true,or what Tuomas said about Tarja "diva-ness" was true.None of us was an eyewitness or anything, so we cant be so strict:):)

Yes that's true.The band was created by Tarja and Tuomas at the very beggining and after a while Emppu joined them. Actually Nightwish was found by these three. It's strange that they "just kicked out" one of the founders.I didnt like it at all.
Ummm...well I a agree to some extent. However have you heard "While your lips are still red." Beautiful song, up there with the songs Tarj sang. But no female vocalists at all, just the males. Go look it up if you haven't seen it. I think they would be best off without a female front, unless they're going to find one who can match the talents of Tarj, and you are right about that Annette is just....blek.
@dedehakan That's way better reason I have heard from most of the people :) Usually their reason is something like "Anette isn't Tarja" or "Tarja is more beautiful than Anette" so you're actually giving a reasonable answer, which I can respect as it is ^^ I wouldn't have said anything at all, if I hadn't gotten so fed up on the way you can't listen to a Nightwish song without seeing a thousand comments on about the whole Anette vs. Tarja matter :)

We just needed to open up our horizons after Tarja and Nightwish split up and Anette joined - And I do believe some of us still should widen the horizon bit :) Both Anette and Tarja are good singers, just in different ways and they have completely different scales: The main thing is that they both know how to do the songs written for their scales..

But tbh even though NW is my favourite band by far i actully think both Sharon den adel and Floor Jansen are better singers than Tarja and Anette.
Tarja probably is the best technically (dunno how it's spelled) but it's actully just matter of opinion, if some people prefer Anette over Tarja i can't proove them wrong because that's their opinion =)
@janeisababe I completely agree! Besides, it's not like Anette is truly "replacing" Tarja. She is taking up the role, but she brings her own talent and light to the band. Tarja's era in Nightwish will always be remembered and cherrished; but, Anette is now and the Nightwish of present times is equally as awesome, if not better in certain cases. I have all the albums and I listen to them constanly, if not religiously, and they are all equal in their greatness. Nightwish forever!
Why does every Nightwish song I visit have nothing but Anette v Tarja? Get over it! Nightwish was awesome with Tarja, Nightwish is awesome with Anette! End of story! Tarja is gone! I don't wish her back in Anette's place because Anette is good with Nightwish! I wish only for a reconciliation between Tarja and the band, and maybe a duet with Anette to bring together the Nightwish of old and new. Stop this childish bickering, nothing we can do but accept this new Nightwish, because it deserves it.
omg its been nearly 5 years people!! Tarja was let go for reason known only to 4 people Tuomas Jukka Emmpu and Marco thats it period end of story. Yes Tarjas voice will go down in legend as the operatic voice of Nightwish but its not like Annette is a bad singer shes just differant and id put money on Tarja not being able to sing Annettes songs aswell because she doesnt have the energy
@ISeeAnIdiot I didn't say they were planning on telling her after the concert. I said they didn't have enough time to and should have waited until a couple months later. And as far as I know, everyone's (including Tarja) version has been that the letter was given to her after the concert and she was told to open it in the morning. She did, then when seeing it was a public letter, looked online where it already was posted. More or less, everyone knew she was fired before she did. Including fans.
Two sides to every story. If you watch the interview with here that is somewhere about post sacking it answers a lot of points that the letter raised. The concert was organised without her knowledge and she found out about it AFTER having made her own arrangements, She had also given them over two years notice of her intention to go solo. She did however also state her utter commitment to finishing the NEXT NW album and associated tour before doing this.
I am from America and I completely agree. I rarely turn on the radio out here, because when I do 98% of the time it's a disappointment.
@MrNakhrul What are you talking about!? I've never said i don't like Tarja, she is one of my absolute favorite singers. I'm just saying that I think Sharon and Floor are better singers and that's my opinion, not fact...

Tarja Voice is better then Anette´s . Tarja has learnd singing in Opera an Anette nothing ! Tarjas Voice is Powerful and Anette´s voice is small and not powerful . I did not like Anette´s voice by nightwish . Tarja is better in the band and Nightwish without Tarja is not Nightwish .

agree, Anette sings very fine, much finer than most of mainstream 'stars' we hear today,
but still... if Anette could sing even 1/4 as good as Tarja.. she would too be very happy... so to put it.. :)
this is simply because Tarja sings godly.. you can't beat that...
I really want to see them live but, while Annette's okay on the DPP album, she practically murders the older songs. I listened to her doing Nemo and Dark Chest of Wonders live and she didn't exactly do them justice.

You can be sure, read the letter that they wrote her, its on many websites and blogs...
I also spoke to him about it, hes just the spokesman for the group mainly...so...has to announce decisions, its not as if hes just going to say 'Go' and she goes, the others have to agree...-.-
They trashed up nightwish by kicking Tarja, although she is doing what she liikes, they used to rock the hell out of me, really they rocked my soul... But now with that Avril Lavigne (thats not a compliment) like singer!!! They are totaly lame... They should just cry back for Tarja!
emppu &tuomas were the first 2 member's of the band ,then tuomas hired tarja then jukka then sammy ,then sammy got fired then got marco ,then tarja got fired in 2005 after (end of era)concert in finland ,then hired anette and still present .
I never said that I don't like to listen her. She is a great singer. But it is Tuomas who created Nightwish and without him the band wouldn't exist. Nightwish would have got to warm up Metallica but she and her manager/husband demanded more money!
Actually, I think that Tuomas has always wanted to be more than just friend....
A bit stereotypical, don't you think? I'm just saying that there are plenty of amazing American artists as well. You shouldn't say that all American music is shitty just because a lot of European music is equally amazing.
Everyone seems to be hung up about tarja leaving and what not, the 'old' nightwish being better, having listened to both new and old, they're both brilliant! I just hope that you all give both sides of the coin a chance...
