    This brightens my constipation. I love learning this stuff.

    The answer to my question is 10 ML of GLYCOLMIX PER 2 QUARTS OF ELECTROFORMING SOLUTION. I found this information in his other video on making the electroforming solution.

      I just realized I probably dumped the whole thing into my batch and that's why it isn't working... thanks for the info :)

      Hey @dugotio. Did you manage to make this electroforming solution with MiraLax?

    I found the answer to my question and it is 10 ML. PER 2 QUARTS OF ELECTROFORMING SOLUTION. I Found this in his other video on how to make the electroforming solution.
    Thanks,
    Doug A.

    Jason, thanks for the vids.
    How much of the glycolmix do you add to how many gallons of plating solution ? I have watched this vid 6 times and did not get the amount of the glycolmix to add to say 1 gallon of plating solution? = very needful information.
    Thank you again,
    Doug

    Great video… but a couple comments. First, “glycol” isn’t quite right. What you’re using is PEG ie poly ethylene glycol. The “3350” designation refers to the average molecular weight of the PEG. Essentially, it refers to the length of the polymer chain. The second comment refers to the basics of weight and measures. “mL” refers to liquid measure. You’re weighing a powder… you need to go with gram measures. It’s more predictable and will yield better results. Finally, try sodium saccharin… yup, the sweetener is a brightener! 👍

    • @MegaNostr
      @MegaNostr Рік тому +1

      Hello. Please tell me how many grams of saccharin should be mixed with 1 liter of distilled water?

    • @tylerpowers8660
      @tylerpowers8660 10 місяців тому

      Thank you for this explanation! I also found out about sodium saccharin, but am curious like @MegaNostr what kind of ratio would be reasonable. Started going through some books on plating, and searching through patents for commercial plating baths, to try to get some info. I'll eventually figure it out, but if you have any loose recommendations, it would be nice to hear!

    Do you preffer using glycol to electro polishing?

    So I am a tad confused. In the electroplating video from 2019 he says its a leveller and still uses Midas. For this electroforming video he says its the brightener. So confused

    How much would you make to put in a new batch of solution I made using your diy solution for a 4 quart bath?

  • @shellyhelsel8020

    I wonder if its worth the trouble of adding some sulfuric acid to this brightener, the commercial stuff has it. I imagine after filtering the bath so many times and refilling with DI water you dilute the solution and change the pH to some extent. acidifying the brightener could be helpful for the longevity of the bath. 4 mL H2SO4 in 100mL brightener solution would be the same ratio as the bath formula i saw somewhere.

    Hi Jason, It is my understanding that Saccharine is A Class one Brightener. I haven't tried it yet so cannot say what quantity to use or concentration , it is a start though to undermine those that withhold this sort of information.

    Hey Jason! Thanks for the video! I'm falling in love with all this stuff and planning to start it next year.. I live in Germany, and I think there are 3 or 4 people electroforming jewelry here.. So, we don't have the commercial things here.. That's why I'm so thankful for your videos!
    I have a question about this one.. Could you please tell me how to do the recipe with your self-made brightner? Or is the same recipe from your big electroforming video?
    I have so many other questions.. about the basics low budget starter things.. Can I polish an electroformed piece with a dremel or I have to buy the big polishing machine?
    I'm very grateful for your videos.. I might tell you someday why..
    Well thank you!!
    Blessed be. 🙏

One week of watching your videos and I am waiting for all of the stuff for solutions :) but i didnt found a birghtener so... now i know how to replace it ;) normally i did jevelery from copper and brass by cutting and forming. This will be something that i like more :P Thanks Jason :)

      Anti-freeze is MEG (mono ethylene glycol) not PEG (poly ethylene glycol)

    Hey Jason, I was wondering if there is a difference between charcoal filtering and carbon filtering? I know you have a video for carbon filtering, but in this video you talk about charcoal filtering? Thanks for all your videos, they are so fun to watch!! :)

    • @qmorgan7156
      @qmorgan7156 3 роки тому +3

      Charcoal is basically just a low quality activated carbon. You can get a huge container of activated carbon at pet stores in the fish area for filtering stuff for crazy cheap, it's easiest.

    • @simonlinser8286
      @simonlinser8286 Рік тому

      sometimes it's called activated charcoal. they are the same thing. there important part is it says active activated, doesn't matter if it's charcoal or carbon they're the same thing. activated.

    Can anyone give a report on the quality of Jason's book? How about the new formula for 10 dollars" I don't mind spending the money if it is worth it.

      I bought a couple formulas solely because he has taken a lot of time to share information with me, you and others. After the fact, it turned out to be an even more worthwhile investment, because I learned valuable, new information not elsewhere mentioned.

    • @katieshearer4067
      @katieshearer4067 4 роки тому +3

      I bought it, but I have not made it yet. I figured $10 bucks is nothing in comparison to all the info he has shared for free, so even if it doesn't work (which I wouldn't imagine to be true) I am at least donating $10 bucks to an awesome guy who is a wealth of knowledge who has and continues to share such great information on some pretty awesome stuff! He cuts out a lot of trial and error for us beginners, which would very easily cost us more than $10 bucks! But, I don't think you would be disappointed by buying the recipe :)
