I can't wait to get some linseed oil and try this! You have the best ideas Irene! I remember you showing this before and I have it written down so I don't forget to buy some oil next time I'm at HL. Hope you had a fantastic Christmas with your loved ones and got lots of goodies from Santa! Cheers! Luv ya xoxo

Thanks for the tip Irene, I will try to remember to pick some up and give it a try. I also want to try Denise's idea of using tracing paper and coffee dying it then baking it to make your own parchment like paper

Hi Cheryl!!! How are you????? Miss you my friend! Next time I go to Seattle I'm driving up to see you!!! We didn't have out passports so we couldn't this time. I love the idea of turning tracing paper into parchment paper. I"ll send you some parchment paper....I have commercial grade. We should try together...see if you like the results. Do you have the pocket die by Sizzix? Let me know.... Warm hugs to you my friend!!...irene

I finally found the pocket die and ordered it. I think I got a good price for it too. It would be wonderful if we could meet up. Even if we met in Bellingham. It's not too far a drive for me, even Seattle is only about 2.5 hours away. As a matter of fact I'm going for a day trip to Seattle in March with my co-workers. Our store had the highest sales in the district so we won 500 dollars to spend any way we liked, so we are all taking a trip to do a little shopping and to visit the Seattle Starbucks roasting plant. Which I've always wanted to do. I would love for you to see where I live though. My neck of the woods is so beautiful and I'd love to share it with you

Hope you don't mind me commenting here Irene, but I wanted to say to Cheryl that I have used greasproof paper or I think you might call it baking paper/parchment paper in the US...I coffee dye it, bake in the oven and use in my journals, it has a nice crispy effect and can be sprayed.

Thank you so much for sharing! I was just using linseed oil on our door, saw your video and now have papers drying. Looking forward to trying it on the onion skin paper too, as someone mentioned below.

Great tip and it really does work. My brother is experimenting with making leatherette the old fashioned way and was using Linseed Oil and came up with the same thing. Also, using oil or oil and water mix ( I used veggie oil ) with onion skin paper will give it a glassine look!

You can use baby oil. It's cheaper and smells good too. Just rub it on the paper. I do both sides. Let it dry.

I'm a little confused I guess. You just wipe the linn seed oil on it and it turns it into vellum paper after drying?
