That’s a very big (and I’d have to assume fairly biased) statement, “in every way”. It’s certainly geared to be faster off the line in most scenarios than Focus ST with these upgrades, but in other ways the international motoring press praise the superiority of the Focus. Hyundai have worked hard with (German) engineers to upgrade what is a fairly basic architecture under the i30 for the N, whereas the C2 platform under the Focus is widely considered to be the best (and one of the most expensive) mainstream C-segment platform available, so it’s base dynamics are stronger. I don’t own either but have test driven both and I find the Focus to have a stronger feeling of “solidity” that only cars designed in Europe seem to have - the i30 feels tinnier - that’s purely subjective on my behalf and not “superior in every way” though…
It's also far more tunable, for some reasons Hyundai has greatly detuned it to be under 400Nm & 300bhp mark, nonetheless it does have more potential when it's unlocked, & can host mods better too, doesn't mean it's more cheaper or easier to tune, just talking abt. potentials here.

@@Madest_Max And yet they have the same lap times according to Tyre Reviews. Why should I buy a tire that destroys itself far quicker, without any performance benefit?
Can you track testing the Sonata N Line please.
Would be good to see the i30N DCT vs the MK8 Clubsport. but we don't get that down here! Silly VW!
Perhaps line it up with the new Cupra 300?
i30 N is the superior car in every way honestly. On a race course the i30 N would prove auperior as well. Very impressive.
@@sjb2471 lol
It's also far more tunable, for some reasons Hyundai has greatly detuned it to be under 400Nm & 300bhp mark, nonetheless it does have more potential when it's unlocked, & can host mods better too, doesn't mean it's more cheaper or easier to tune, just talking abt. potentials here.
Looking at getting one of these 2 cars in the near future, wouldn't by an automatic hot hatch tho, does the manual i30n get the engine upgrade benefits of this facelift as well?
Sure does. It’s a rocket
Yo I didn’t know Michael Fassbender did car reviews.
nice job!
Hmm someone is lying about their power figures. No way the Hyundai should have pulled away with such ease given basically identical power and weights. Sure gearing is important, but either the i30N is more like 220+kW or the Ford is more like 180kW.
Because Motor Mag hates Ford's, they always deliberately drive slower so any other manufacturer is quicker.
@@miguelfigueiredo3910 😂 cry some more
Can u do a drag race with model 3 standard and i30 n please? Both claim 0-100 under 5.5 secs
you can do 2 runs in an electric car before it needs a charge.
Who is win in this race
The manual focus is faster than that 8 speed with a good driver
The i30N everyday…Ford has woeful build quality
Do you own a Focus ST??
Hyundai is a trash car company..
@@RSV4_GOD Lol, Hyundai is living rent free in your mind.

think both cars are great !! But for me Hyundai every day !!!
I'm a bit confused by the whole NGS thingo. Does Hyundai's quoted power and torque claims include or exclude NGS?
10 horsepower
@@gusc.7728 exclude
Neither 1466 not 1487 is over 15 hundred 🤦🏻♂️
So how much more does the ST FOCUS AUTO cost compared to the Korean contender?
Good chat though
48k for the Hyundai vs 42k for the Ford, that extra speed is where they spent the 6k on
42k for 2021 ford focus ST? No, cheapest is 51k.....
In Australia
i read the magazine of this!:D
and he didnt use the NGS torque booster.
Know we need a ford fiesta St vs i20n
They already have done dragrace on both
Verry simple i30n has 305 dyno as stock focus puts out275stock just as the golf 8r puts out 340+- focus is still superb on feeling driving overal grip moose test 83kph did it perfect golf 7.5 failed at 75
Just spend a mere £500 and get the Mountune M330 upgrade. Takes the Focus to 330BHP
Or the dream science package to get it to 365 👌🏻
@@performanceworld02 definitely. I believe Mountune also do a 365BHP upgrade also.
And damn near look the exact same in the front as well
man that Hyundai is quick but the Ford Focus is not disgraced either..there is a Focus up date coming very soon though..
11:34 where is he going with that flat tire ? xD
The I30N sounds allot better.
Why not have both in manual going head to head? Seems an unfair comparison.
I30N more eficient gearbox...
Bravo Hyundai!! By far faster and better car.
i30N 👍👍👍
Drivers should switch cars for such test to be fair.
i30N... Looks better, sounds better. Faster. Better build quality. Easy choice.
Wrong, wrong, and wrong again
@@mickcundall4036 that's because you are a Ford fanboy
ford, after escort cosworth .. all their newer "fast/hot".. awd/fwd small sporty cars, were WAY SLOWER than power/weight would say and SLOWER than ALL competition in own class.

Hyundai never match with ford handling dynamic..but very strong in marketing area to make popular videos.....there is no doubt.
Obviously never drove the i30n, stick with your xr6t
@@335i_Max I’ve driven the ST and the I30N, there’s a reason I’ve got the ST, it’s a better car, the Hyundai is like a cheap copy of it.
@@thatfocusguy far from it, bud
@@Madest_Max I’ve never driven the automatic version of either as auto hot hatches are pointless, manual vs manual the ST is better, the interior is nicer, the seats and infotainment system are crap in the Hyundai. The electronic diff in the ST is better and the ride is better, I’m pretty confident I’d be faster in the ST. Plus it’s got a lot more tuning potential. Mines just been rolling roaded at 334bhp with only a stage 1 map and an induction kit.Best of all it’s a lot cheaper on a PCP deal.
@@thatfocusguy well... I did watch another hot hatch test in which the i30N still had a DCT and the Focus ST a manual and the Focus still lost, as the i30N just has that little bit more punch to it.
Focus ST is better with manual then with that automatic. Hyundai DCT is much faster and there is a disadvantage
Really stupid to compare the automatique ST which nobody wants to the i30. The automatique is slower and does not sound as good. Bad choices made guys.... fail
ST all day everyday. Hyndai idk just seems lame
Hyundai seems to simpler but more exotic hot hatch here, the ST is the lamer one as proven in this video.
The ST in Manual would have done it.
So far 20 focus st owners disliked 👎 this video.
Not surprised….. Ford ;(
Can we see some Mazda 3 drag races?
1:46 LEZDOIT
I'd take the Focus ST or even better the type R all the way... even for hot hatch standards the i30 has ridiculously cheap materials in the interior
