Hi Rarran, your video inspired me to try to get to legend with loaner decks only. So I started 2 days ago on a new account and I got to legend tonight, mostly sludge warlock from rank 5 platinum to legend. I went 100-44 so far (61-23 on walock). So it wasn’t that grindy. I have to say that I am really impressed of how blizz made it more accessible for new players. Back then right after Blackrock Mountain I made a similar experience getting to legend with a poor’s man midrange combo druid and it took me a month from a brand new account. I had to grind the arena a lot just to get the ressources to make the deck. The path to legend was longer and more grindy back then. Keep the good work blizz to make a better experience for new players!
Whenever I see these insane titles from Rarran and the first thing I think is. "Why is he doing this to himself? Are you ok Rarran? You know you don't need to publicly flog yourself to get views."
well deserved like, the video albeit long was really entertaining, your personality and the really good editing made the time go fly by. keep up the good work and have fun!
This challenge was really great to watch live - it got me through some really difficult personal times that were going on. Thank you and I really hope you continue these, irrespective of the views, but make sure the challenge is something you’ll enjoy.
I've been watching you for like, a year now or so. I can safely say this is by far the best video I've seen from you to date. In all honesty, one of the best Hearthstone challenges I've seen in my almost 10 years of playing. It was brilliant. Well played.
Loved this, it instantly took me back to how i felt the first time making the sweaty grind. The range of emptions. This might be a challenge worth trying
You've been one of the most dedicated hearthstone creators that I've followed. You've got skill, and you show us all what it means to GRIND! Keep it up Rarran!
Seriously Rarran, your ability to make an engaging video using narration to stitch across multiple days of content is very impressive. I always look forward to these types of videos. I can 100% foresee a great career in (e-)sportscasting for you along with streaming.
As a returning player, I was very surprised to learn the loaner decks are actually meta. I am currently in diamond running Plaguebearer with only a couple of card changes. I will say shutting down Reno feels really good since I still have some memories of going up against the OG Reno decks
Fun! I recently came back to hearthstone after like 6 years off - I built a budget Hunter deck and ran with it over something like 50 games to hit legend again...thanks to Rarran for getting me back into HS!
I was waiting for the video for this series because I didn't wanna watch the streams. But I ended up watching them anyways and they were super entertaining. Great video. I hope the next challenge isn't soulsucking!
Watched all 35 hours of the full uploaded streams on youtube following this journey, was fun to watch the editing and condensed version of those streams. Ps cant believe you managed without the Elise pack, thats crazy!
As a returning player using the Plaguebringer deck it really is a meta deck already so this "challenge" is a lot easier than building with random free packs. High rank Deathknight is either a slight variation on that deck, rainbow Control or handbuff.
Rainbow is stronger, but this one is mid tier-2 meta deck which is perfectly capable of reaching legend. He also shows us adjusted vsmetareport stats, while other sites like d0nkey/hsguru displays plague DK's wr as 53% at d1-4 bracket. Whole purpose of this video just clickbait.
@@EveningAsylum It's not a clickbait. He did in fact reach legend without opening a single pack. You could argue that it was easier becauses he got the death knight deck for free, but so does anyone else starting the game right now. And a year from now there might be a different free deck that is playable in high rank. The video isn't about reaching legend with a shitty deck, it's about reaching legend on a fresh account without spending money on packs.
I recently came back to Hearthstone, chose the Warrior deck and climbed to plat with it in a couple of days. Well done on Blizzard's part making the decks.
not seen ANY heartstone content in YEARS and must say DAM it looks SOOOOOO different and gave me little urge to come back but then i realized it would bee too much money to spend
Last month was my first real time playing competitive hearthstone. I started playing towards the end of the month, so I had little time to push my rank. I got to diamond with maybe 2 or 3 losses, which I was super happy about. I kept pushing and made it all the way to diamond 1 with few bumps in the way, but I had a 90% winrate deck. I won against everything except priest and shaman. Every single time I made it to diamond 1 all stars, I would lose 4 games in a row. I started session of hearthstone from diamond 3 and I hit diamond 1 full stars 4 times and fell back to diamond 3 every single time. I spent 8+ hours falling and climbing again that day. I gave up and didn't even try to reach legends as I had only 2 days to the month left by then and other things to do
Recently hit top 2000 as a ftp player. I started playing during Old Gods and stopped about Cobolds and Catacombs-ish, I believe. Always was stuck in 7-10 rank area (old ranked). But recently I returned for a brief moment and wanted to finally get legend, so I played for a month, reaching legend in the final days and getting about top 27000, lmao. But the next month I just steamrolled to the legend in the first week that earned me top 2000. I'd say, the main factors why I got legend in a month, compared to not getting it for several years are: 1. Hearthstone is less popular, especially ranked standard. It means less competition 2. Back then I was about 14 years old, safe to say, I was worse at the game 3. Most importantly, back then I never dusted good cards, even if they were played in expensive decks that I'll never afford. This time I've chosen 4 classes that seemed good this expansion and focused on them, dusting my entire collection, except these classes. That way, I was able to afford highlander shaman, although budget decks like aggro druid and secret mage (and enrage warrior that I got for free) still did most of the heavy lifting. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
@@luker.6967 Said events took place right after the launch of showdown in badlands, so, I don't think my advice regarding meta would be helpful, back then warlock was a dead class. But you can use HSreplays and Hearthstone meta stats, these websites were really helpful overall and especially with the matchups. I was getting destroyed by plague DK and I crafted Secret mage after using these sites, so I started getting destroyed by dragon druid instead, lmao.
It's funny that you got two demon hunters as your final boss (bad matchup) and the good matchup as your 3rd because that's literally what happened to me too (my bad matchup was hunter though). I needed 4 days with loaner warlock and plague dk to get to diamond 5 and camped there. This month, I took plagues and then zilliax rogue to legend
Damn.. I miss Hearthstone 2015-2017. Those was really good times, good cards and all. Nowadays there is about 5000% more cards and it's just ridiculous a lot of it.
just disenchant everything to craft whizbang; its decent enough to climb. To tack on though; Ive been around hearthstone since beta and the reality is its always been possible to make a fresh account and get legend playing free-to-play because of some of the things they give you to boost you up as you start. It is not however possible to remain free to play and win after some of the booster things you got rotate out. So a free to play player has to continuously make new accounts and get the new player bonus rewards to stay legend. The idea is they give you bonuses at first, you rank up, you fall out, you spend money to play more. Just make a new account again :}
I got back to hearthstone after 4 years and got legend with the warrior loaner deck. I would say the G4-P10 and D4-Legend were the hardest games to play.
Wanna start off by saying Thanks Rarran for getting me back into ranked HS. Been a BG enjoyer for years now like our boy Kripp. I started playing with the DK plague deck 4 days ago having zero games played as DK and after 64 games I'm Plat 2 'n change. Granted I have the meta version and I've barely lost matches. Deck destro locl can die in a fire 😂
New challenge: Having FUN in Hearthstone without opening a pack
LOL maybe 10 years ago
Just stay in bronze, the challenge doesn’t begin until after that
Ouch, .... Fun
solo modes are fun :P
@@curtisrogers2721you think only having the basic set would be fun on release???
It's really hard if you're not allowed to open the Un'goro pack from Elise
Its almost surreal to have watched this saga go on for over a week on twitch, just to be condensed down to 32 minutes. Amazing work as always
Bro that rogue game where you summoned 5 toy Crush's was a riot. Lol

what a stream, glad to be a part of it. thanks rarran
My man Rarran is 100% willing to absolutely demolish his own sanity just so he can provide us with this content. Mad respect for the accomplishment
This was great watching your adventure through your streams! I hope this video blows up!
Aight, the mention of Elise's Un'goro pack made me laugh out loud
You know what they say Rarran: the real content is the content you made along the way!

the clock town clock tower sound to time skip at 11:01 was too funny

Masterful tension in the editing on the last game, congratulations ❤

They are not meta in legend they are tier 3 decks, that can get diamond 5, but have like 45% wr there!
Truly stellar content my man! This was such an incredible journey. Congrats on surviving it :)
My heart was pounding during that final match. Great Video! Thank you for enduring!
This dude legit got me back into the game after not playing HS for 5 years. The Hearthstone team should thank him.
That was fucking epic. Amazing moments and a sick video to recap the whole thing. The edit is fantastic. One of your best videos for sure.

You can use the gold to buy arena pass and get dust from arena because it can give you dust directly so this is actually much easier to do
I respect the 5 players and 3 streamers still playing this game.
