- In this short video i talk about using ebay to buy your gemstone cutting material. I buy some stones from ebay and have had success and have been skunked a few times.
I think some of the sellers mislead due to not knowing themselves what grades of material they are selling such as calling cabbing grade material faceting rough in their descriptions, i see this a lot.There can be some good purchases made though.
I have been wanting to try faceting gem stones for a long time now. I am currently fighting cancer but when I am better in a few months I am going to get a small machine and learn.

Outside of practicing what good is a huge faceted quartz ? Is there a market for them ?
Yes, if you cut a portuguese or other large stone that is out of the ordinary , there are buyers for them. You dont see them being cut over seas in the large sizes.

I have purchased from the same guy that you got the citrine from like you some times its good and sometimes not so good.
Thats right, i looked at one of those big pieces today and if i saw it right , i can get 2 inclusion free pieces . i would like to find some large darker pieces but thats been difficult, its mostly the lemon or light colored stuff.
@@tennpikr74 He seems to only have the lemon citrine I have not seen anything darker.
@sacofl There are many on Ebay look under faceting rough and be sure to check out their feedback ratings as the bad sellers will have negative feedback.
Is it natural stones. Can it be used for astrological purpose if i buy from ebay?
The problem is when buying on ebay, some sellers are calling the stones they sell as natural but are in facet synthetic. I dont know if they work for astrological purposes since i dont dabble in that..

That's a nice piece of citrine you should be able to cut that and get several pieces of jewelry out of that I like it. ❤

yes, the emerald is so very poor quality. the quartz can be cut into very nice gems worth much more.

@@Gold26502 yes, it was genuine, it even had a certificate card with it. i think if i cut it smaller into a cabochon it could be worth the $10.00 as the color isnt too bad. it has a lot of natural inclusions in it .
@@tennpikr74 Sorry but those cards are a complete scam. That emerald was in a way too perfect condition to be worth under 10 dollars. and way too big as well, i dont think u can find actual genuine emerald for that cheap because emeralds are very precious

That quartz crystal is almost mint green... I've never seen one that color, unless it's just the camera and lighting
It might be your computer - on my laptop the quartz was clear (except for the inclusions).

@@tennpikr74 thanks ! I found such cheap blue cyelon sapphires in ebay, mostly from India. I wonder if they are all fake. Literally selling 5 cts for 20 $ .
@@subarna89 watch those, the ones that are a nice blue are usually glass lead filled.

@@subarna89 good sapphire/ ruby cut polish is $300 - $800/ ct depending on clarity & color. Montana sapphires up to $1200/ ct. Rough is conciderably cheaper. If youre not paying around those prices? Theres something wrong. Heavily treated, diffusion, irradiated, LGF as mentioned( $35/ ct) Lab from nat seed being misrepresented. Etc. Or very poor qlty. Go to GIA they have some free info for novices emails letters to sign up for. Take a few classes. The colored stone course is intense. My personal fav. Much harder than diamond course.
