🎈 After our tribute to “The Red Balloon” in Donosskino VolVII'23, it was time for an in-depth analysis of this legendary short film by Albert Lamorisse (Link in BIO), which in 1957 surprised the world by winning the Oscar for best screenplay.

Synopsis: A lonely boy finds a red balloon? Or maybe it's the other way around? And both the boy and the magic balloon wander the streets of Paris. Wherever the boy goes, the balloon does not follow. And when the little boy gets into trouble, the balloon comes to the rescue? A poetic medium-length film (starring the director's own son, a 4-year-old boy), with hardly any dialogue, which was unexpectedly awarded the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

Estoy bastante sorprendido de lo increíble que fue este cortometraje con poco o ningún diálogo. Todo lo que se necesita saber sobre la historia se transmitió visualmente. Eso es algo que falta en el cine actual. Desearía que se mostrara más de este tipo de entretenimiento para los niños.

Truffaut ya venia quejándose del cine francés desde que escribio “Una cierta tendencia del cine francés”, que lo echaran de Cannes era cuestión de tiempo, pero regreso por todo lo alto con "los 400 golpes" y la nueva ola francesa.

Eso es, aunque como comentamos en el video, Truffaut con la perspectiva del tiempo, cambió su actitud vehemente de crítico y pudo llegar a apreciar "El Globo Rojo".
