I agree. The tone is the same. I believe any tonal differences are merely phantom, caused by the slight differences in volume. Thanks for your time and dedication Capitan!! You make the guitar community a better place!

Yes, you are right, the "System Global EQ" will let shape the final sound. Also on the MkII, there is a new feature in BTS "POWER AMP IN SETTING" , it's a High Pass Filter that letS you shape even more your final sound.

JB Aubry I agree but when I do this I find the sound very dull. I was told that the Katana speakers are voiced very flat and it’s best to try with sims on and off. I’ll try it both ways. What do you think?

That's great to know. I don't like the tones out of my Hotone Ampero in a Headrush 108. Pluged it in the amp in of my Katana 100 MKII and liked it a lot. Thinking of getting a katana 50 MKII just for the Ampero, as it's lighter to carry. Guess, volumewise, I'll have no problems with the band.

Experiment with and without cab simulation from your ampera as you are driving your multi FX into a guitar amp, not into a FRFR as the Headrush powered speaker. I have tried both methods with a headrush mx5 and a mkII. For me the power in sounds slightly better, but one of the things that get muddy the sound through the speaker is the headrush reverb, I have to lower the mix quite a bit, but if I use the return of the FX loop I can remove the Headrush reverb and use the katana reverb, for me it sounds better that way

So the aux input would be more for external devices right? Like phone, pad, laptop, or something like an eband js10? And do you think using aux input that way would be ok for live performance? If you played your own backing tracks through this amp and jammed to them as well? I'm more of an intermediate player and would like feedback from experienced musicians. 😁👍

Hey friend! There is a mod that prevents the speaker from being deactivated when you connect headphones. I could use the headphone output, put a looper there, and then connect it to the aux in on a katana 50. Would it sound bad? The problem I see is that the original output and the aux in output will sound simultaneously (which come from the same source) and it could sound strange. what do you think?

Is there any problem if you connect with an Y cable your guitar to both input jack and, through a multieffect processor, to the "aux in" jack at a time? I was wondering if I could get an overdrive guitar tone (amp's input) mixed with an emulated acoustic guitar tone (multieffect) in the aux in. Is there any feedback problem or incompatibility? I have the 50w model, no effects loop available. Will I blow something away if I do that?

Make sure to go in Boss Tone Studio to activate the effect loop. See the block "S/R"or "SEND/RETURN" and set it to "ON". Check my video, at one point you can see where is located that block.

I am thorn in between poweramp in and fx return. Except the volume bump, I don't hear any differences.
