    I've been using this knot off and on for about 2 yrs; it's basically the same principal as tying a dropper loop for surf leaders, except the hook is what's in the middle of the two side coils. It's a great knot with one con.... depending on the type of hook eye you have, if it is not a closed/welded hook eye, the line can eventually become damaged by the hook eye. But you tied a great knot and it works a majority of the time. If I'm not in a hurry or pre-rigging in front of the tv, I use this knot. But if I'm on the boat and wanna get a dropshot rigged quickly, good ol' palomar gets the mission. Thanx for sharing this great vid!!

    Used your original ds knot and worked. Loved the way you can slide the hook at the exact spot you want it, and it stays upright. Slaying largemouth out here in So Cal throwing easy shiners off the ds.

    Here's a question I have an I don't have a clue if it will matter at all.
    Does the load actually spread out across both lines going through the eye of the hook? That's what makes the palomar knot strong. The weight isn't on just one line. It's easy to put the line through again, but if it doesn't change the stress on the line and one line is still getting all of it, then I'm not sure this solves anything. Would be worth finding a way to test.

      @@jarodmorris4408 not sure the best way to test it other than fish it to see if it works for you. I personally have never had an issue with it. Fish on and tight lines 🎣

    I've always been concerned the line will find it's way to where the eye of the hook meets the shank. That area is very sharp and under pressure of a fighting fish looks susceptible to abrasion and breakage. For that reason I haven't really tried this knot.

    I do the same not. I like to thread with hook down then twist the line when rotating line the hook rights itself then I put hook through the twisted line then pull tight. Same line tie just different. That’s the way I like to do it.

    Concern is not strength but your losing allot of action in your bait with that knot. Look at it underwater. Why are we worried about drop shot knots?

    • @timmygbass6287
      @timmygbass6287  Рік тому +2

      Action works great for me. Perhaps it’s the type of bait your using that’s not being cooperative. I use a lot of Red Angle Fishing drop shot baits and the action is unbelievable. Tight lines.
