I never understood why many fans criticize Padmé for "stopping being a fighter" after TPM. To begin with, in AOTC, it is clearly shown how she, despite being no longer a queen, is still a great fighter, as she showed in the Battle of Geonosis. Later, in RotS, she no longer fights in battles, which is understandable because she is pregnant with twins, but she still shows herself to be a capable and strong-willed woman during the rise of Sidious and Vader, refusing to join her husband to the Dark Side. Padmé NEVER stopped being a strong woman
I completely agree. And while I haven't grown up with the clone wars tv show, or fully seen it (I didn't have the right channels for it), I've seen the clips that matters of Padme, and the way she fights against the growing authoritarian regime and the centralisation of power. She always fights for the people first, and I've heard people say that she proved you could both be against the war whilst still being a loyalist.
*Fun fact:* Padmé's niece, Pooja, would later become the senator of Naboo during the imperial era, being a close friend of Leia Organa (unaware until the Legacy Era of their blood relationship) and a supporter of the rebel cause. She definitely inherited her aunt's spirit 🥲
Ngl, the "Are you an angel?" quote is pretty wholesome, specially if we consider how cruel and isolated from the Galaxy Anakin's childhood was in Tatooine. In in fact loved the re-use of that quote in KOTOR 2 by Atton Rand to Meetra. The only thing I wish is Anakin Solo saying the quote the first time he met Tahiri Veila 😂😂😂
Although what Anakin suffered when he found out about Padmé's death was horrible, I can't even imagine what her parents felt while having to bury their young, beautiful and kind daughter. The saddest thing is that they later passed away without even knowing about their grandchildren Luke and Leia, although such privilege would be gotten by the children of Padme's sister, whose narration about their knowledge about Anakin would be recorded for the book "Jedi vs Sith"
Dont need the force for trauma bonding, regular humans do it all the time. Though, considering his power level, there would certainly be an amount of aura influence.
This isn't a new theory. However, it is still one of the best theories that has been proposed. Being as powerful as Anakin was and having such intense feelings for Padme could've definitely led him to unconsciously use the Force on her to influence her emotions.
This was also a fleeting, mostly long-distance fling. The relationship lasted more or less from the middle of Attack of the Clones (which takes place 22 BBY) to close to the end of Revenge of the Sith (19 BBY). In addition, they never could live together after the bodyguard time on Naboo and so, for the majority of their marriage they were more often than not apart, stealing moments with each other between their extremely busy and almost entirely separate lives.
Anakin use the Jedi mind trick on Padme so she'd fall in love with him. Anakin uses the "don't like sand" pick up line, Padme kisses him. Anakin supports dictatorship, Padme rolls on the grass with him. Anakin slaughters Sand people, Padme comforts him.
Is it "two wrongs don't make a right"? On some level, is it love or is it wanting what you cannot have for the thrill of the hunt? For Padme, she knew the Jedi Order frowned on relationships and was mature enough to understand the societal discrepancies that forbid such a relationship. Somewhere along the way, she thought this was okay. For Anakin, he was well...has a Costco-size shopping cart of HR violations probably including inappropriate use of the force. No saints in this relationship.
As mature and intelligent as Padme was, she was relatively naive when it came to romance, having only had two prior love interests where the relationship was broken up by the burden of her duties. Also, keep in mind that Attack of the Clones is set in 22 BBY and Revenge of the Sith is set in 19 BBY, so their relationship is a fleeting youthful fling, which, lasted three years at the very most. A lot of that time short the two are apart, between Anakin fighting on the front lines of The Clone Wars and Padme’s duties related to The Senate, added to the fact that their relationship had to be kept secret (so they never could have cohabitated).
First: Padmé is young, bit naive and actually spent so much time working to help others via social service, refugee relocation and politics that she had no time for romance. Her finding some and getting attached to it makes perfect sense, because in a way she's not that different from Anakin. Second: You should read the Clone Wars: Wild Space novel, which touches upon post-Attack of the Clone events. Padmé essentially decided the Jedi Order could go fuck itself because they not only behaved atrociously towards Anakin, but also thought they could go send Obi-Wan to ORDER Padmé (who's a Republic Senator, not a Jedi, and thus technically one of their bosses) to act like them and forsake her own feelings. All because Padmé wanted to see him in the medbay. There's no "thrill of the hunt" involved, it's Padmé realizing just how inhuman the Jedi mentality is and deciding both she and Anakin deserved better. If not for Obi-Wan and Yoda being absolute assholes in regards to her, it's likely the Naboo wedding wouldn't have occurred so quickly. It was a mix of war looming down on their heads + Padmé and Anakin lashing out at the Jedi by committing to each other. You need to read that novel prologue to get it, I could go on forever on how infuriating and disgusting the Jedi were in that scene. Third: The idea that Anakin used the Force to, well, force Padmé to fall in love with him is ridiculous. Mind Tricks don't work on weak-minded people, and Sith-style Force Persuasion would essentially be a Mind Rape a la Kilgrave, and Padmé would KNOW AND FEEL something's wrong almost immediately, especially when Anakin was away in war.
The Phantom Menace was filmed in 1997 from July to September when Natalie Portman was 16 and her character was 14 in the movie. Natalie was 18 when the movie was released in 1999. Keira Knightly who played Padmé's double Sabé was 12 during filming.
HC is a great actor who had to work with a hard script. His work in Ashoka shows his skill at portraying different stages of Anakin's character. This theory is great, i like it
To your question at the end, I honestly think Obi-Wan thought/hoped that Padme to Anakin would turn out the way Satine did to him. Someone who he could experience those feelings with and learn to recognise, empathise with and handle them, but also learning how to turn away from them and ultimately strengthening his resolve and commitment to the Jedi
Thing is though he openly stated and I quote *_Had you said the word I would have left the Jedi Order_* As devoted as he became to the Jedi order in the end, there was a point that he was willing to give all of that up for the woman he loved the most.
The love story was awkward because Lucas just sucks at writing love stories (which as an author, I confirm can be difficult), but it is so far fetched that Anakin using the force unconsciously against Padme is the only explanation for them getting married.
I think one part of their relationship that often gets overlooked is that they didn't just have to keep it secret because of the Jedi code, but also for political reasons. Anakin was a war hero, and to an extent a celebrity, the republic absolutely adored him. Padme was in her own right a rockstar, her radical bills often gained a lot of popular support from the common citizen. Had it become public the two were not only together but had actually been married and conceived twins in secret, the republic would have, for lack of a better term, gone absolutely _bonkers._
Of course, we don't know that Kylo is using Force Persuasion on Poe til he breaks into his mind. But it's an idea, that's right there. And if that's something he trained and perfected under Luke's tutelage, you can imagine, that he, realizing this was possible, maybe started to question, if his desire to be a Jedi came from himself, or was forcibly implanted.
@@philippeamon7271 First off: Disney-Canon is bantha poodoo, don't EVER use it as basis to any sort of argument regarding lore. Second: That wasn't Force Persuasion. That was Torture By Chagrin, a Sith technique of mind probing/raping a person into telling what they know. And neither technique is something that can be used "subtly", especially in long-term and against fellow Force Users.
@@toportime But not to the point where Padmé would be mind-tricked into loving him for years, even when entire star systems apart! Quoting the only good line from Disneytard Canon, *THAT IS NOT HOW THE FORCE WORKS.*
Padme wasn't manipulated by the force. You have to have a weak mind in order for a force user to manipulate others and control mind. In AOTC padre says are you gonna use one of your mind tricks on me and in reply Anakin tells padme it only works on a weak mind. Love is powerful thing. Even strong people can change when love blinds someone. At the arena padme tells Anakin she's loved him from when he walked back into her life. The problem is they both trying to build a wall as padme was a senator and Anakin a Jedi showing the world would have Anakin expelled and padme no longer allowed to serve as a senator. They were both doomed by a corrupt system that Palpatine was playing both sides
Wrong. It has been shown that sufficient raw power can break someone will and if anythign Anakin has raw power especially when he taps into the Dark Side
Well, the jedi who say "It only works on the weak minded" are really oversimplifying it. Even a strongish willed person won't necessarily keep their mental guard up around a force wielding individual they trust. Most well-intentioned jedi wouldn't be so creepy as to violate this trust by subtly using the force to artificially imprint feelings in that person's mind and ever so gradually manipulate them over several interactions but yeah...anakin be like that.😂
@@rexlevitak1Wrong. Breaking someone's will is a far cry from influencing someone to fall in love with you. Breaking a strong will probably requires actively mind-raping them, like Cad Bane when Mace, Kit, Anakin and Luminara interrogated him. You think Anakin did that to Padme? Lol.
The mysteries of The Force are many. A powerful enough imprint (Anakin's absolute desire for Padme) could certainly send ripples and draw her in, directing her feelings and her destiny. He might not have intended, or even had been aware, but it absolutely is plausible.
Would make sense if he did bc he is creepy and stalkery. Not to mention is toxic , emotionally immature and childish. She told him no and he was making her uncomfortable. That should be the end of it, he should have left her alone. But he continues to be creepy and stalkery. He is obessive/possessive. That is not love
@@soldierinsane2689That is true and its obvs in that he is canonically toxic and abusive. She legit states she is scared and doesnt feel safe around him. Doesnt know who is in there at any given moment. Not to mention he is also in this series canonically possessive and controlling. As well as an entitled whiny douche. He is not a good person.
@@CM-ik8sx I’ll always defend anakin though, he doesn’t mean to be whiny and insecure, which is why he was so vulnerable towards being manipulated by palpatine especially. He’s definitely flawed but no one else around him but palpatine was comforting
I don't think Anakin used the force to make her fall in love, I think both of them were very attractive young people who were looking for some romance. Kinda as simple as that tbf, if Anakin was ugly then yeah maybe he used some tricks but he's played by Hayden Christensen 😂
I never thought about that angle before. Jedi can read emotions and intent off others, I never thought about how they might broadcast as well. That might be another part of why they focus on emotional control, so they don't effect everyone around them.
I think the simplest explanation is just that they were both teens then young adults from very structured rigid social orders who saw in each other a kind of rebelliousness against their ordered existence. Padme is not the first otherwise intelligent independent young woman to fall for a bad boy she thinks she can fix; and Anakin isn't the first young man with a troubled past and unresolved parental traumas to become egotistical and toxic towards a woman he loves. The awkwardness and tragedy of their romance is probably the most realistic thing in the prequels. Lucas was not so subtly attempting to make them a (literal and literary) sci-fi Romeo and Juliet.
The new thumbnail for this is amazing. I don't think it was Anakin influencing Padme. I think it was Palpatine. He was always ten steps ahead of everyone. Anakin being emotionally vulnerable made him perfect prey for Palpatine who read him like a book because he couldn't hide his feelings from a Force Sensitive.
It is possible for mere humans like us to use the force in dating. Be competent, confident, and physically fit. That’s a powerful combination, and it’s the closest mere humans can get to being a Jedi.
Anakin is also uneducated, As a slave he had a gift for machines but would have received little if any education and certainly no civics education on the workings of the republic. The jedi education focuses on using the force and serving not on how things work.
I would like to propose another idea. Padme probably isn't a child protege. No child would choose to study politics when they should be in middle School. And shouldn't be a competent elected official at the age of 14. Or at least not with the heavy hand of a parent or guardian. This would probably affected her development in certain aspects leading to the bad relationship choices. Or maybe it made her a little crazy. Or maybe a relationship like there's would be okay in the galaxy
I think you're almost there. The thing is, Padme spent pretty much her entire life surrounded by lies. She would spend most of her time either sround her handmaidens, who by design, were meant to be deceitful (constantly pretending to be each other and all), or around politicians. I don't think I need to explain that one. Aside from her family, there were probably very few people in Padme's life who were actually honest with her. Then comes Anakin, who is not only very honest with Padme, but - as Allen describes - basically wears his emotions on his sleeve. That's something Padme finds pretty desireable, along with the fact that she can also be honest with him.
Perhaps a lesson in over-specialization into one thing, as it may negatively impact other aspects of the person. Sure, play to one's strengths, but still gotta develop some mechanisms to cover those weaknesses. S-rank politician, C-rank at noticing that she's falling in love with someone who may not be ideal, and resisting such a fall.
...or perhaps...maybe...the Prequels have flaws in their story telling. If not that, I always blame Sidious, not Anakin, because he groomed and trained Padmé for the Young Legislator program. Enough time to plant Force Hooks into her strong mind over long periods of time.
I thought it was just an "I can fix him" thing honestly maybe even with him being a useful Republic asset she'd want to keep on her side as she has been shown to have clear influence over him multiple times throughout the show and movies, not to mention the fact of how powerful he is and his status as a Republic General probably cant hurt. That said, I like this too. Going off this how do we know he didn't use the force on her subconsciously/unknowingly with how connected he is to the force and the nature of his birth?
Anakin had unwavering loyalty to his freinds and especially those he loved if you are the most hunted senator of the republic then as far as boyfreinds/husbands go Anakin would easily be the best for protecting her. As you also touched on Anakin is loyal to people and not ideas, if Padme thinks something is a good idea and Anakin doesn't its quite easy for her to get him to go along with it.
Acts of affection create love. No affection no love. Proximity without affection is a work colleague. You love your pets and not other peoples because of acts of affection.... See person, be attracted to them, spend time together in personal conversation, small touches of affection, oops fell in love.
I don't think love is something you could manipulate with the force. Or not at least with Anakin's knowledge. (it's even stated in the movies) Maybe Palpatine who was a master manipulator could pull something like that off, but love has to be there on both sides I think. Otherwise like you said, it would just fade away after a while. If Anakin could use the force on Padmé to make her fall in love with him, why couldn't he make her join him on the side of the sith in the end?
If this theory is true then it took him at least a few days to do it whereas their confrontation on Mustafar lasted what... 5 minutes? Plus they were both in a _very_ heightened emotional state in that scene so it would presumably be especially difficult in that moment even if Anakin was doing it consciously.
Chati gbt isn't creating its putting existing information to create something New . Isn't that how our brains work. I notice often people debunk conscious by discribing the mechanisms of conscious. Its not thinking its putting together data points
Extremely cold take, but Anakin and Padme should have been *at least* 16 (Probably 18) for the plot, and romance to make sense. Like, it was seen as extremely controversial that Anakin be taken into the order at the age of 10, which seems a little strange to me. He would have memories of his mother, of course, but considering the plethora of species the Jedi deal with (And that Shmi was a slave so couldn't have been around much) it seems like not making an exception would *be* the exception. If Anakin was older, we would have been able to see him almost like a mirrored version of Luke. A young kid from Tatooine, except this time being accustomed to the wicked ways of the galaxy (Which would easily set him up for conflict with the detached Jedi Order). The best part is he could retain an identical role as the one he played in the movie, simply more active than before. They could allude to a romantic interest between him and Padme, and have him offer to race for the hyperdrive. The friendship between him and Obi-Wan would also make more sense if they were closer in age. A big problem for Anakin was the lack of a father figure, but in Canon, Obi-Wan appears to have filled that role extremely well, instead of the A New Hope "He was a cunning warrior, and a good friend." This version of Anakin would mirror the relationship between Han and Luke, but in reverse. Now a former slave who participated in dangerous races to feed his aging mother, he would bring a pragmatic view that would teach Obi-Wan as much as Obi-Wan taught him. At first, their beliefs would align. (Although, the distinction here is that Anakin's political views were shaped *before* he entered the Order, not during) Being Qui-Gon's disciple, Obi-Wan would see the hypocrisy and corruption in the Republic (and Jedi), just as Anakin would, but would differ in the extent they believed it had purveyed. Obi-Wan may aspire to become a council member, or Grand Master, in order to rectify the problems, while Anakin may feel angrier and angrier over the council's lack of awareness towards the suffering in the Outer Rim. These debates, unlike in the Original Trilogy, could be entirely explicit, as it could contrast the rag-tag nature of the Millienium Falcon's crew. After Qui-Gon's death, Anakin and Obi-Wan could both be angry at the order, but following Obi-Wan's promotion to knight (Or Master), or maybe even a military role (Which would be doubly ironic, with Obi-Wan wanting peace, and for the eventual reversal between Anakin and Obi-Wan's military roles). As time goes on, however, and the Clone Wars begin, their beliefs begin to drift apart. While I didn't mention it as much as I should have, Padme being as old as Anakin (And hopefully both less awkward) would provide a third layer to this relationship, with her being Leia, but instead of a fierce revolutionary, a well intentioned oftentimes worried politician striving to fix the Republic, as Obi-Wan does the Order. Knowing the flaws of the system well, Anakin would become radicalized, however having the ideals before Palpatine so he isn't seen as an idiot the whole time, especially during the Clone Wars. Becoming a great general, and finally having the comradery (And perhaps even father figure in Ularen) he would suddenly gain a position of power to enact this change. Perhaps he would overstep his bounds, and destroy a greedy corporation he had memories of, or impede on Hutt space to free slaves, and is saved from the fallout by Obi-Wan. With Palpatine being the small push he needs to become a fully fledged revolutionary, and maybe even seeing the order might can bring, he becomes entirely disenfranchized with the Republic, with the Chancellor himself wishing to have more power to fix the same wrongs Anakin is trying to. In this way, the relationship between Anakin and Palpatine would also change; from a weird manipulative grooming thing, to a statesmen tricking a powerful general (and political figure) into giving him absolute power. The Jedi and Republic would drift apart as the war goes on, as the leadership struggles to mend their beliefs and the military action forced upon them, especially against an insurgency that many in the Order don't disagree with. The way that Anakin and Obi-Wan come to blows isn't important. What is how neither of them want to. We see in the Original Trilogy, there is little animosity between them (Especially considering what they both *should* feel in regards to the other). Maybe Anakin launches a devastating attack on the Separatists, killing the leadership, *and* many civilians. Obi-Wan could be given an ultimatum by the council (ever wary of action) to stop his friend from ackrewing too much power. Order 66 can play out as it did, but in order to mend the continuity Padme must stay with Leia for a few years so she would remember her. This isn't really that hard to imagine as to how it could happen, really. In this way, a lot of the problems with Star Wars could be mended. Anakin isn't a double child-murderer, or an impulsive idiot. His relationship with Obi-Wan isn't perfect then suddenly blows up overnight, the love between Anakin and Padme isn't largely nonsensical, and the Jedi give Anakin a reason to rebel. (Also Palpatine would still be hated by the audience for how he would probably instantly take away all of Anakin's power once he no longer needs him or something).
8:47 yes, I have forgiven Padme and Anakin for their clunky dialogue, it is very cringey, but that’s pretty normal for young people and should be expected for young people who have been partitioned off from having romantic relationships by duty.
I met you at an airport in the Philippines at like 2am. I was awestruck. I said generation films and generation tech?! Then you said nice pants ( i was wearing a pair of pants they make you wear before entering a temple in Thailand)
The look of Episode 1 was the least of their issues. Would think he developed feelings for her partly cuz he barely knew any other girl. Their meetup an relationship in Eps 2 an 3 looked a bit an sounded alot like plenty of other average relationship arcs. Seems Anakin got lucky lasting long as he did when you think of his upbringing. She probably had her reasons for changing her mind with Anakin Highly doubt he used some power on her. Remember he wasnt even an intro level Master good or evil yet. An so he had lil or no idea how to focus his abilities to deliberately influence another sentient being like that. Especially since NO ONE seemed to react to it and shoulda sensed it if hes doing something like that even unintentionally.
Anakin became an ultra-elite member of the Jedi Order, among the few. There were about 10,000 Jedi in a galaxy of hundreds of trillions of sentient species. So, although Padme is an elite Queen and Senator, Anakin is elite in his own right.
Sure, that makes sense. Like you said, I doubt he would have manipulated her consciously, but use of the force may have given him more charisma. I can definitely see a woman in her position being attracted to a "bad boy," but he's more of a whiny teenager than a bad boy at this point. We see him at his best during the Clone Wars series, and it's easy to see why a woman would be attracted to him at that point, but of course she'd already married him before he reached that. With Obi-Wan and Satine, I doubt any force powers were needed. It seems they were around the same age and better suited to each other (or they would be if their respective responsibilities hadn't gotten in the way).
Obi-Wan and Satine is also way more hilarious because of how those two idiots dance around their very, very obvious feelings. And while Korkie doesn't necessarily line up, it doesn't matter too much I guess. Wouldn't be surprised if his origin was intentionally kept vague enough for the theories to gain traction.
Education through experience. Only Anakin could learn the lesson and either fail or succeed in gaining self control. Obi-Wan apparently faced the same with Satine, and then doubled-down on his dedication to The Jedi Order. Was still a close call, though, as he would have left The Order if Satine wished it.
The argument is flawed. The view of the jedi is what happens is the will of the force. There is some choice granted to you. But if the force decides to hook you up with someone because it is being subverted then is Anakin to blame? Luke is needed to be the corrective impetus to get Anakin back on track to get rid of the sith. And no relationship with Padme no Luke. Think Cable from Marvel.
Boy, the comments about Padmé! One would think that in 2024 you wouldn't be seeing a comment about the way a woman dresses when talking about harrassment. I guess we still have a long way to go. I'm happy you brought this up cause it always seemed odd to me. I mean, how could Padmé, an advocate for democracy and for the republic, fall for Anakin when he always showed his dark totalitarian inclinations? Yes, we women tend to believe (or were made to believe) that we can "fix" any man and that's maybe the case here, but he was born of the Force itself, pair that with the intensity of the adolescence and Anakin's personality and you'll have a very dangerous mix. Let's be real, Anakin hated to lose.
"Please don't look at me like that, it makes me feel uncomfortable!" "Please don't dress like that, it makes me feel uncomfortable!" "HOW DARE MANBEARPIG! I c4N dR3sS h0WeV3r I w4Nt!!"
I suspect Palpatine was also manipulating both of them with the intent to use her death (blamed on Anakin, but actually caused by Palpatine) to drive Anakin to the Dark Side.
Plus Padmé was his biggest critic. So he used Anakin to distract her from doing her job; along with using their relationship to make Anakin turn to the darkside
Got Force telekinesis, and lightning, and manipulation, and precognition which are all defined applications of The Force. What the unknown is, would be those subtle applications - whether consciously or unconsciously - that manipulate via The Force, shaping destinies by the power of one's will (or emotions). One anecdotal analogy is one anime/manga where the time traveler "resets" time so many times, so as to protect someone, that it instead makes this otherwise insignificant person into the most powerful being due to the fabric of reality becoming super tightly woven around the character.
Nah she definitely fell in love with him throughout Attack of the Clones (not Phantom Menace-get ya mind out of the gutter). The dialogue is weird because of the style of film it is. THe flirting is not meant to be realistic. Its supposed to be poetic.
17:20 Padme and Anakin were only together for less than 3 years. Their relationship was clearly puppy love that was _always_ destined to fail. Padme, the stalwart pragmatic champion of democracy and peace. Anakin, the murderous authoritarian warrior-monk, who betrayed his order. They were far too incompatible to ever have had a real, functional, and enduring relationship.
The whole thing makes sense once you realize that Lucas is depicting a very young, passionate and NAIVE super-powered boy. Of course he falls for Palpatine's antics. He's not that bright. But it's frustrating to watch because to any normal adult (and many reasonably mature teenagers) that it's all a lie. Here and there on the internet you can find "what if" depictions of what would have happened if Anakin were smart (or at least less naive). Another thought that occurs to me is that one big reason for his naivete is that he typically relies on the force to understand things, so he hasn't developed much in the way of interpersonal skills that even a typical teenager might have developed by this time. His force senses won't work against Palpatine (who even managed to keep Yoda from figuring it out), so of course he'll be easily manipulated. It just isn't obvious when you're watching the story in a movie. You'd almost need an extra-detailed novelization to drop hints about what is going on, e.g., perhaps Anakin having a stray thought that things just didn't make sense, but then such thoughts are quickly lost and forgotten (under Palpatine's influence).
I always thought that romance was extremely weird and awkward. It was like Anakin grew up to marry his baby sitter. I really wish George Lucas just started Anakin off as a young adult and maybe fall in love with a fellow Jedi padawan.
I could wish that for Jake Lloyd's sake. But it was important to George to craft the narrative for 12 year old boys to identify with Luke, so he needed a babykin in the PT. He always had this idea of "How do I convince the audience (average intelligence american), they can be fooled to vote for Hitler?"
No, its just bad writing Also when Palpatine did the massive mind trick on the senate in ros and it didnt effect padme, so that scene alone puts this theory in doubt
Anakin: (How did that trick work? Ah yes, wave your hand) “You must love me Padme.” Padme: “… I… I love you Anakin…” (My goodness! What did I just say!? Do I actually feel that? I feel tired.) The next day. Anakin: (Waves his hand) “You love me Padme.” Padme: (I feel funny again) “I love you Anakin.” Times ever day for a few months.
One massive flaw in this theory. It would require Padme being weak-minded. Nothing indicates her will was weak enough to be vulnerable to that kind of thing. Yes it probably wouldn't have worked out had they not been stuck together but I think the time together was the key factor not the Force. I don't think the Force was a factor at all but if it was I think at most it fanned the embers that were rising naturally. And I don't think Anakin was consciously doing it if that happened.
I don't think Padme has to be weak minded for some subtle influencing with the Force to have an effect. He's hot so she was probably physically attracted to him, and a bit of Force influence could have been what made the difference in encouraging her natural attraction while helping her overlook his childishness and huge red flags 😅 I think after they "fell in love" and got married a genuine attachment formed, especially as Anakin matured rapidly over the course of the war (well in some ways lol). But I think the story makes a lot more sense if you view it from the perspective explained in this video, because otherwise she just changes her attitude towards him too quickly with no reasonable explanation.
Honestly, I hope someone redoes the Padme and Anakin interactions, and show he does have put legit rizz on Padme, even if it was unintentional on his part. It would be better than.... whatever the hell we got.
I find it funny that people usually go the Anakin barely hooked Padme route. It's not the child prodigy from a world that made their monarchy children to discourage assassination AND uses proxies to hide the real monarch who has some weird issues that a hot, 19 year old deranged boy toy was just the thing she was looking for. Stop trying to hand wave the inconsistencies as just directing/writing choices gone wrong and, based on character actions and background, wonder what those people are actually like if depiction equates fundamental characterization.

That’s not how inheriting behavioral traits works
I remember Hayden revealed in an interview he was told my Lucas to deliberately "ham it up more" when interacting with Padme.
But the angels do exist in that world, CW showed as such.
That's why I didn't find it cringy.
It’s a lame pick up line, like “did you fall from heaven?”
@@Travis_Hackney He was 9. It's not even a pick up line.
In Legends, Leia did meet Pooja Naberrie who is essenetially hers and Luke's cousin.
He could’ve used the force to play footsie with her from across the room, if’n you know what I mean
yowza
I think he was fully aware of what he was doing
I’ve known too many good girls who dated bad boys. This relationship was extremely believable
Star Wars is a series of multiple couples who are fundamentally incompatible as people but end up trauma bonding
With the tinder mentality of global reach and infinite option, trauma might be the way to do it
Anakin use the Jedi mind trick on Padme so she'd fall in love with him.
Anakin uses the "don't like sand" pick up line, Padme kisses him.
Anakin supports dictatorship, Padme rolls on the grass with him.
Anakin slaughters Sand people, Padme comforts him.
I blame the bad writing, but you do you.
Everyone says the dialogue is awkward, but I guarantee you that's about as awkward as most real life dialogue...
HC is a great actor who had to work with a hard script. His work in Ashoka shows his skill at portraying different stages of Anakin's character. This theory is great, i like it
Let’s not forget it was Palpatine who suggested Obi Wan protect Padme.
That is THE funniest thumbnail I have seen in awhile. I love it.
There was someone manipulating everything and everyone behind the curtains... But it wasn't Anakin.
"Meesa thinks she pretty hawt!"
The love story was awkward because Lucas just sucks at writing love stories (which as an author, I confirm can be difficult), but it is so far fetched that Anakin using the force unconsciously against Padme is the only explanation for them getting married.
Do you know why William Shakespeare never wrote a play about the beach? He hated sand.
Ironically in telenovelas some people expose their romance to the world uncaring if the world does become deranged
Counterpoint, Force Persuasion only works on weak willed people. Padme is one of the most wilful people in the galaxy.

First off: Disney-Canon is bantha poodoo, don't EVER use it as basis to any sort of argument regarding lore.
Second: That wasn't Force Persuasion. That was Torture By Chagrin, a Sith technique of mind probing/raping a person into telling what they know. And neither technique is something that can be used "subtly", especially in long-term and against fellow Force Users.
Counteroint to your comment, Anakin was stupidly powerful in the force.

Quoting the only good line from Disneytard Canon, *THAT IS NOT HOW THE FORCE WORKS.*
@@DeathMessenger1988The latw Akira Toriyama might have believed Chichi and Goku have more credibility than Anakin and Padme
Exactly

2 star crossed lovers falling in love. So tragic
Anakin & Padmè’s relationship is badly flawed, but it’s a masterpiece compared to the main character relationships in the sequels
The Reylo ship is complete bullshit it will never work out in the long run.
He also destroyed the control ship and destroyed the droid army. He had to have become the hero of Naboo.
Absolutely.
He went from creeping her out to rolling around in the grass to getting married in the course of a few days.
7:28. I bet Padme regretted wearing that dress if it made Anakin feel uncomfortable
I would explain her falling for him and his rapid fall and her death when he thought she was dead
This has been my interpretation of their relationship since watching AOTCs in theaters
I'd say it's the other way around.... Did you not see the dress she wore in AOTC
I don't think love is something you could manipulate with the force. Or not at least with Anakin's knowledge. (it's even stated in the movies)
Maybe Palpatine who was a master manipulator could pull something like that off, but love has to be there on both sides I think.
People can be hypnotized to prance and cluck, believing they are a chicken. But not if they are naturally disgusted with the suggestion.

Force Rizz
8:47 yes, I have forgiven Padme and Anakin for their clunky dialogue, it is very cringey, but that’s pretty normal for young people and should be expected for young people who have been partitioned off from having romantic relationships by duty.

splicing in that scene from 'men at work' is pure genious!!!!!
She probably had her reasons for changing her mind with Anakin
Highly doubt he used some power on her.
Question: Why would Obi-wan let Anakin be on a mission to protect Senator Amidala in the first place despite knowing the obvious?
Education through experience. Only Anakin could learn the lesson and either fail or succeed in gaining self control.
Obi-Wan apparently faced the same with Satine, and then doubled-down on his dedication to The Jedi Order. Was still a close call, though, as he would have left The Order if Satine wished it.

Or we can watch Alan in that montsuki outfit bahaha

I liked the first thumbnail best. Gives us those ‘80s vibes! 😂
This video is terrifying to think about
17:20 Padme and Anakin were only together for less than 3 years.
Killed by the thumbnail 😂
I always thought that romance was extremely weird and awkward. It was like Anakin grew up to marry his baby sitter. I really wish George Lucas just started Anakin off as a young adult and maybe fall in love with a fellow Jedi padawan.
If he did that, then Anakin falling to the Dark Side wouldn't have made sense at all.
Let be honest regardless of this relationship. Anakin pulled off a beauty

Anakin:
(How did that trick work? Ah yes, wave your hand)
“You must love me Padme.”
Padme:
“… I… I love you Anakin…”
(My goodness! What did I just say!? Do I actually feel that? I feel tired.)
The next day.
Anakin:
(Waves his hand)
“You love me Padme.”
Padme:
(I feel funny again)
“I love you Anakin.”
Times ever day for a few months.
Here's a thought, what if Padme recognized Anakins feelings for her and thought it would be good to have a Jedi at her side.
Then that would make her a manipulator.
I never thought about it that way, but looking back at the awkwardness between them I could see Anakin using the Force, even if it was subconsusaly
He not that desperate.
DUDE! Was that a friggin "Men At Work" feces locker clip?
I've been saying this for over a decade whenever it comes up.
Why do the jedi partners always end in a horrible tragic way. They are a magnet of bad luck avoid being their lovers lol
No way, she's too smart for that!
More the other way around...Padme flirted with someone who was underage
What movie was that live action clip from
1:08 there has never been a payoff to Anakin’s line about Angels. Where are the live-action angels in Star Wars movies?
There was a Clone Wars (2008) episode or two where they visited Ilum('s moons) and saw the actual angels.
Honestly, I hope someone redoes the Padme and Anakin interactions, and show he does have put legit rizz on Padme, even if it was unintentional on his part.
It would be better than.... whatever the hell we got.
lol he got kid zoned
or for that matter, did ol' Palpy do manipulation?
In the novelization of *_The Phantom Menace_* Anakin looked Padmé straight in the eyes and told her "I will marry you!"
