    Thank you for fantastic lesson! You are very clear and easy to knit along with. I appreciate how you speed through the plain knitting part lol.

    Thank you for the suggestion of using markers at the ends of the wrapped stitches. Wrapping stitches is new to me and I am having so much trouble identifying and keeping track of wrapped stitches. I love your videos. You are easy to understand and view. Thank you so much.

    I honestly could not wrap my head around this technique. After having you demonstrate this and seeing it, I sort of get it. At least I understand how you get from A to B. I am going to have to try this technique and see if I can do this. Thank you!

    Fabulous video and now I’ve learnt this great technique which gives the toe a much neater look, I’m eager to knit a pair of socks. Thank you so much for sharing!

    I have been afraid to even try this but now that I've actually seen how it's done, I think I'll give it a try. Thank you for sharing this!

    Great technique thanks. I love how the stitch markers help me keep track of where I am in the short rows, even when I watch TV. I am gonna use this method for toe up socks and the heel part too 👍🏼

      The markers definitely make this method easier (and more successful 😉) for TV knitting. Happy knitting! 💖

    Great video thanks! I will definitely try this for socks. I like the idea of markers so you don’t get lost.

      You don't have to use markers, but they definitely make it easier to keep track of things. Happy knitting! 💖

    That is slick. One side at a time. The purl side appears to have more of a difficult pick up. Thank you. All that engineering is helpful I can see with the knitting. Thanks

      Oh yeah. I definitely appreciate my engineering background when I'm knitting and designing. Besides all the mathy stuff, those technical report writing classes have served me well over the years.

    Love all you're videos I learn a lot. Can I make the toe the same way you did but with the shadow heel?

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  4 роки тому +1

      Overall, yes you could use the shadow wrapped shaping. You would need to make some sort of adjustment for the first row though because there would be no way to make the first twin stitch. I'm not sure if it would be best to just work 1 WS row first then start the shadow wraps or make a modification to the first RS twin stitch.

    Very interesting. Its a bit confusing for me but then I have never done magic loop. I learned to knit socks on two circular needles. Can this technique for for that as well?
    Great instructions, thanks for sharing.

      I have just started knitting socks on two circs and I really like it! And yes, you could definitely do short row toes on on two circs. Instead of having some of the cast on sts resting on the cord (as with magic loop) while you work the toe, you would have some stitches resting on the 2nd circ instead. ❤🧶

      The Chilly Dog thank you for your quick response. As soon as I figure out how to adjust a pattern for what will work for me, I will for sure follow your instructions with this heel. I really appreciate your tutorial. Thanks again.

    The toe it's self of the easiest toe up version I've done. However, whenever I get to the part of you have one double wrap stitch each side and you go onto knitting the other side of the sock, I end up with a ridge, like I've purled two rows but I haven't and even when I try and crochet the purl into a knit I still have a ridge but at least after that the rest comes up as knit stitches. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    What is the advantage of this method. It seems more effort without any marked benefit compared to a a simple increase on both sides then cast on toe.

  • @debjewett7279
    @debjewett7279 4 роки тому

    Question, so when you initially cast on, do you cast on 32 stitches on each needle (that's if the pattern calls for the 32 stitches - 64 stitch circumference ) and then begin the short row pattern on the one needle. Thanks

    Can you use the technique with German short rows?

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  2 роки тому

      I haven't tried it, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't use a double stich as your turning stitch instead of a wrap and turn.

    Why does the title say for toe up and youre not doing toe up😪

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  3 роки тому +1

      Even though the sock doesn't start at the tip of the toe, whenever a sock is constructed with the toe first, followed by the foot, heel, leg then cuff, the method is classified as toe up.
