Thanks so much for putting a video together! It's always fun to watch an unboxing. Glad to hear the sharpness out of the box is a bit improved over last time- I'm in nepal right now and we're looking to raise the initial sharpness even higher. This model is our Historical Service Issue (HSI). It's a great little performer as you've shown and with it's smaller size and weight can be very versatile for a lot of finer tasks that bigger khukuris struggle with. Great to hear you're happy with it :)
Gday Kailash Blades! I love your work! The fit and finish is perfect and the performance of both khukuri from you that I have is excellent! I just used the HSI on a weeks camp and put it through a good test. I love this khukuri! Please Thank all of your Kamis as there work is awesome!
Pretty nice looks like she held up great. I like that kydex sheath to. I noticed she didn't sing like your Tora Mk2 when bottle cutting. I wonder why? Thanks,
Just had the HSI on a hunting trip and it performed well. Everything from cutting tent stakes and line to slicing cheese and salami! Only heavy work was splitting firewood. Unfortunately no game was taken so no test there. Maybe next trip! The kydex sheath is awesome!
@@TheNessmuk did you take any other kukris, if so, how'd they do? I hear good things about tora but almost no videos on testing them. Kailash on the other hand seem great, I ordered a few.
Gday. Yes I have the HSI kukri. The handle has a rat tail tang that is tight and strong. Buffalo horn is durable no damage. In the field the blade does tarnish and stain and surface rust does happen. It rains alot here. I use sand to rub it off. I coat it with lanolin to help protect it. I damaged the edge at the sweet spot with an overstrike on a sapling that hit a stone. Repaired the edge with a belt sander and a polisher. The edge on a Kailash blade holds well and I just strop the blade to keep it sharp. The kydex sheath is well made and performs. I blued the blade to help keep it clean to some extent. With use after two years wear and some tear is there but performance is bloody good 👍
@ my HSI cuts chops and slices well with normal use. It has the performance grind which I prefer. If you want a Khukuri for what you consider hard cuts then I recommend getting a standard grind and a full tang. Kailash Blades offer some excellent kukri with those options. Thank you for your comment.👍
Hello sir the Khukuri is a Kailash Blades HSI it has a 11.5inch blade that is 5mm thick at the bolster with a distal taper. The handle has a rat tail tang with buffalo horn.steel fittings and a kydex sheath. There are many other options available but I love mine. It also has a performance grind that cuts well. Recheck has the HSI 4mm thick at the bolster!
@@TheNessmuk Mine is 4mm thick at the bolster with distal taper. I wish it were 5mm for a bit more weight, but it still is a very light, fast, versatile knife. I believe 4mm is spec so maybe you opted for a bit more heft.
Hello i like your video’s guys I’m about to get a mini kukri knife i fond too kukris knife I like 1. Mini kailash 7 inch 2. 6″ Super Mini Khukuri g.g.k What do you think 🤔
Since I’m pretty much settled to this model, and I have small hands, I come back with another question: Could you, please, Jozef, measure the circumference of the handle at index finger position and at little finger position (I think they’re not the same) in cm, if possible (I think is more precise), if not in inches and I’ll make the conversion? I want to see if I can order it like it is, or I have to ask for a custom thinner handle for my shorter hands.
@@danmano478 I’ll have the exact measurements in cm of the handle in a week’s time. I’m away at the moment. Kailash Blades are excellent khukuri and the HSI is a fine choice.

Hello, do you still have the khukri? Would you like to describe in what condition is it after those years (rust, loosen parts, chips etc )?

@TheNessmuk Thanks for the answer, so I suppose you suggest it for moderate use.

Hi, what are the specifications of your Khukri ? It’s profile doesn’t seem as thick as some others.
