    No dont worry about it. Those people are just immature. Dont even give them your time. You said it: They dont want to hear what you have to say. Your content is not for them. You are clearly infj. You are real, straightforward and honest. Thank you for your content, you have taught me so much about myself ❤ 🙏

      Thanks for your nice words :) I have moved to enfj over the last few years, but I really do relate to a lot about infjs, even if I have come to identify more with Extroverted Feeling more over time. :)

      @ErikThor I apologize. I totally misunderstood your point. I was multitasking the first time that I watched the video.But I do agree with your point. I feel like MBTI was created for us to understand each other, and that's what i use it for. Not to nitpick and make people feel bad for not fitting into a very specific box. But anyway, if these people who claim to know who you are were watching your videos, they would know that everyone has every cognitive function. Then they would no longer have an argument.

      @@ErikThor It's interesting that you identify more with extraverted feeling now. Do you think that could simply be
      part of the maturing & growth process?

    • @ErikThor
      @ErikThor  8 місяців тому

      It's possible it's just development, we tend to reinterpret the past to fit with our present choices and lifestyle, and mine features heavily on "embracing discomfort" and going out and facing challenging experiences. But it's still a real lived experience. Maybe it's temporary, maybe it's permanent, I sometimes find myself changing with the seasons, winter being my most withdrawing time of the year, and summer being the most outgoing. Maturing and true development should make you feel more centred and confident in yourself though, it shouldn't fundamentally alter who you are, just reveal your true colors to yourself.

      Also, we may disagree fundamentally on labeling but I do think both sides of the coin are important for all types to recognize.

      I'll watch it later, enjoying my birthday now! :) I don't think I'll disagree from the intro alone. It sounds like you're going to be arguing for the same thing I do, the use of the label in getting to know a person.

    The existencial dread brought on by the full understand of the self at it's core and the fact that there is noone else you can be a bit tough.

    • @ErikThor
      @ErikThor  8 місяців тому +2

      We are who we choose to be because we choose to be, as long as we see ourselves as a complete entity as it is, there shouldn't be any existential angst, we are who we are because we are who we are, and it's not something that was chosen for us or against our will, we choose and continue to choose to be that way, because we are that person who makes that choice. Hope that taoist spirituality made sense.

    • @thecommenter2711
      @thecommenter2711 8 місяців тому

      Hmm, taoism certainly helps. If a person finds their self too painful then going for a kind of selflessness state is certainly a solution. To be or nonbeing both are fully valid but with different challenges.@@ErikThor

    Fi people show high levels of emotionality. Ne people are multifaceted. Ni people focus on one thing at a time (or a small number of things). Se people like to focus on the present moment. Fe people absorb the emotions of Fi people. Ti people collect knowledge for the sake of collecting knowledge. Te people only collect knowledge that is useful for achieving a goal.

    • @ErikThor
      @ErikThor  8 місяців тому +9

      Anyone can show high levels of emotionality, anyone can be multifaceted, anyone can demonstrate focus in any area, and anyone can be present. I understand why you're doing this - you're trying to understand the cognitive functions, but anyone can use any function. Try to interview people about these definitions around you, and you'll find most say "they feel like they're a mix of multiple of these". There's a way to use these in a less stereotypical way though - focus on people's values, what they enjoy most, what they find stressful over time, and factor in time, to what extent, in what situation. Most people can't be broken down to these basic definitions, but these definitions can provide useful ways to orient ourselves around how you can think or respond to a situation.

      @@ErikThor Everything is relative: multifacetedness, emotionality, etc. Notice how ENPs tend to have many different activities going on in a short period of time. They easily transition from one idea to another or from one activity to another. Also notice how ENPs can be reading from many different books within a day, sponging up the information from many different sources. Compare and contrast Eckhart Tolle and Russell Brand. Notice how one of them discusses many different topics, quickly switching from one idea to another. The other one will focus on one topic for many hours. Notice how IFPs will cry much more frequently than ETPs, who have repressed emotions, and are often not aware of their own feelings.

      Can you definitively explain why based only on MBTI type, excluding all other possible factors? If not, stereotypes and generalities are being assigned, not from a thorough understanding of the cognitive functions and how they interact contextually with lived experience and all its variables. There might be any number of reasons an individual displays some behavior or pattern of behaviors, and any number of ways an outside casual observer might interpret those behaviors based on THEIR OWN factors including MBTI type. General descriptions may be useful to help someone identify their possible patterns, but only through a genuinely curious examination of deeper processes does MBTI truly become useful and fulfill its intended purpose of deeper understanding, to the extent it is capable of doing so.

    The problem, Erik, is that the MBTI system is helpful and I wouldn't trash it, it's just not absolutely what the nerds of this typology say it is. "MBTI is a personality theory" - is a lie, of course. MBTI, is neither a theory (unverifiable by the methodological tools of modern social science) nor does it tell a story about personality. MBTI is only a representation of 'hardware' types, that is, it is only a 'theory' of one element of personality. And this, after all, is constructed continuously (yes, yes because personality must be seen as a process) by three variables. These are hardware +software +environmental factors in which the loading of software into hardware takes place. Only that hardware is given once (and it is a given, unless we start damaging our brains) forever, and the other factors are not. And that's the whole problem Erik, that's why people fall into the trap of labels and boxes. There are no boxes.
    "And where we all walk, the stones are rumbling their chant". Thank you for an upload and take care x

    The thing is, many people within our community use this system as a way to cope with their feelings of inferiority and worthlessness. They are overly obsessed with their own personality types to the point of basing their entire personalities around them, which is quite irrational and illogical. Unfortunately, even though no personality type is superior to another, some individuals do use their type as an excuse for bad behavior. Others may feel the same and see these actions as an easy way to avoid personal growth.

    Hello sir,
    I have loved your content for several years now. I appreciate you educating me on subtypes! I loved learning about, say the INFP subtypes.
    The following, right?: Fi subtype, Ne subtype, the Si subtype, the Te subtype.
    I know I didn't call them as you call them.
    Also, I want to understand enneagram as it relates to subtypes.
    I am an INFP enneagram 4 and my most preferred friend (I like a lot of people and temperaments) is an INFJ enneagram 2.
    If you watch Magnus Mitbo and Anton on UA-cam, Magnus is an INFP and Anton is an INFJ; their relationship is the same dynamic I have with my INFJ friend.
    Again, subtypes (that or enneagrams) attract certain subtypes, and the dynamic makes for tacit understanding and natural chemistry...you know?

    Excellent video. I use the terms "psychological type" and "brain functioning/types", so the people may believe it more.
    Good thing, these people gave us new ideas to make videos ^^
    This is my version : ua-cam.com/video/2q932Ua7amw/v-deo.html
    I never knew myself before, the MBTI and other systems about the self helped me so much. I needed these categories, to put words on my self to know/understand myself, to find my place.
    All I see is an improved Erik Thor.
    I recently found my twin brain : same genre, personality type, neurological conditions, enneagram & tritype : we are the same on certains points and the opposite on other points. We are all uniques.
    A neurodivergent INTJ - sometimes I act/use my ENTP side in my videos : because it takes less energy, more comfortable & fun. It depend of my energy.

    For all the people still questioning his type.., he's heavy on the Si trickster and doesn't sound like Ni dom. Fine I don't care what type he is XD. And sometimes he does sound like an enfp that's probably because of his Ne critic.

    • @ErikThor
      @ErikThor  8 місяців тому +4

      I understand where you're coming from, but let me tell you why I dislike these kinds of comments, I'm all for people talking about psychology and personality traits, but here, you're using the labels without explaining what you mean with them, making it so that only people familiar with your specific theory might understand you, but you have no guarantee that even if they do, they understand those labels the same way you do. Use labels, sure, but if you do, always make an effort to explain what you mean with them. Hope that makes sense!

    I found it harder to believe either thst you're an infj, not to mention the background you come from sets you apart from other infj. But i wholeheartedly believe you're an enfj. No doubt. And I wish that I could explain. You sound so much like some enfjs I have known. With that being said you're not going to sound like every enfj that exists, neither are you a representative of a particular type. I see you as a human trying figure out life like a seeker tries to do. Although I didn't watch your other videos recently because I am getting completely disinterested in mbti right now, but I enjoyed my days. Now it doesn't just feel like it. Have a great day!
