- Love racing games? It's got a lot to offer. From colorful kart racers such as the highly popular Mario Kart games and the recently-released Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled, to games such as the Forza series and the Need For Speed games, and everything in between, like Team Sonic Racing, racing games are great because they are both highly accessible and highly competitive - a great way to involve just about anyone in a game.
The objective is simple, and oftentimes, the controls are straightforward. But while racing games are easy to get into, it's not exactly the most popular genre, though by no means niche. So it's always unfortunate to see racing franchises go away, such as the once-popular Twisted Metal series. Another such series whose activity has dropped off is the MotorStorm series.

If you made a petition for it to happen, and got enough signatures, and have it sent to the people who made the games, their could be an open world version of it in the future

@@OneTwoMark I hated the cartoon cuts scenes but I loved the environments and that 3dtv and first person cockpit view was supported. Overall a great game if you block the shit cutscenes out of your mind
I remember getting my first PS3 ever and it coming with Motorstorm. My child size brain couldn't process the jump from PS2 to PS3, especially with Motorstorm being a pure quality game. I had never seen a racing game with that much depth yet a strong arcade feel to the driving that kept it fun. Also did anyone else ever boost till they blow up, just to cross the finish line in style?

"Pacific Rift" is among the finest Racing Games ever created, tragic we haven't had a 8th gen one.
I owned both Monument Valley and Apocalypse. Even with all the epic scripted catastrophes in the latter, it felt rigid and empty compared to simply having tire tracks in the mud.
Agreed. A reboot of Pacific Rift would be incredible! I’ve been searching for a replacement ever since, but to no avail. Bring back that festival atmosphere!

Let’s not forget Motorstorm: Pacific Rift had 4 player couch co op. I think that should get a remaster
I agree and that they all should get a remaster. And then come out with something new, maybe the rockies, or go back to where it all began in monument valley or somewhere similar.
Our hopes are on rpcs3 motorstorm PR and Apocalypse run better than native. They are working on online multiplayer for the emulator but that is a long way off. Campaigns are just as good as you remember if you have a good PC with strong CPU

I was just dusting off my ps3 jailbreak and never played metalstorm apocalypse that was sitting on my drive and this series is soo sweet. i wonder if immersivegamer83 still does that oculus injection stuff. and in regards to the emulation. thats the whole reason I pulled my phat model out because i was interested in finally playing MGS4, but even with all the 4k downsampled videos they looked like cheesy bargain bin games. On the ps3 it's wickedly smooth and with Chromatic Aberration (that's a realistic term used in the dk2 world!) its like playing a DVD movie on the real stuff !
@@Paperclown AHH you will make me blush ;) yes very much still into VR and tinkering. I haven't uploaded anything for the longest time though. Super busy at work and struggled to find time to record and edit. Maybe I will get back into it one day. I am currently playing with the quest 2 with virtual desktop and enjoying no man's sky in VR.
I really hope that as per 2 is on the Horizon they will start porting the classics to VR like killzone 2 and 3 as well as motorstorm. Killzone 3 in VR would be a dream come true great campaign and the multiplayer was fantastic back in the day with 3d and the ps move sharpshooter rifle lol.

Then you come around with your "so ridge racers didnt exist?" assuming that since you liked them more, he should have liked them more as well, or he just never heard of it. Same about NFS and midnight club.
If someone says that something is their favorite, why answer with what about this thing that I enjoyed much more than your favorite thing ? As far as I'm aware they know better what they like or not.
Also: that game was WAY ahead of its time technically. Each vehicle had a bazillion parts that could break individually. Seriously, take a hard jump with a nose first landing and watch your vehicle gloriously shatter like glass... and fire if your fuel tank ruptured. Speaking of fire, Pacific’s use of driving to close lava and cooling stations to not die was amazing 😁
The game was way ahead of it's time graphically too, for a 2006 game it looks fucking AMAZING to the point it even looks better than a few 2014-2020 games..and the graphics still hold up to this day, imagine if Evolution was still around and remastered the game, the graphics would've been on par with Last of Us II or Red Dead Redemption 2

pacific rift, i still play it to this day. i highly regret not getting to play it online during its prime. but its still legendary!
Same, the only one I got to play online on was apocalypse but I played online for years and still go back and dust off my ps3 to see if I can beat monument valley or pacific rift
My ps3 hasn’t been unplugged in 6 years. It happily sits on the top shelf of my tv stand awaiting the next time I need my fix off motorstorm or real steel
It's sad that we never got a collection or remaster of the Motor Storm series, on the PS4.
I remember playing the demo in Circut City in early 2007 before the game came out.... I remember the anticipation and excitement when my father and I brought the game home on the day of release, all those hours of fun.
It's sad to see this game defunct now, this game helped my relationship with my father improve.
I can't play Forza without thinking about motorstorm in the back of my head. I need more motorstorm and more hydro thunder in my life

I’d pay for a Motorstorm/Pacific Rim remaster. I loved those games! Apocalypse was too ‘wacky’ with a storyline that felt campy. Though, some of the tracks were fun.
Acadius I'd pay for a remake on pc. Idc if it would cost me full price, I just wanna see Motorstorm with sexy graphics.
I've thought about that as well! I wonder how much would they want for a Motorstorm reboot on PS5 or maybe re-open the servers for PS3. 5 million dollars for reviving MS from the dead?

Online and gambling killed modern day gaming and couldn't care less what fucking HD remaster they offer because I wont buy it on platforms that don't have a single full title that upon purchasing we actually own.

Motorstorm doesn't need new concepts. It needs a remastered version, maybe with new tracks and all of the old ones, with online multiplayer servers. It needs to be on PS4 for sure and maybe PC if the sales would require it. Motorstorm, particularly Pacific Rift, was a gem among racing games that seem to have been forgotten in the past. It deserves better. Lunatics Unite.

If Sony kept this Studio going and made the series a Open World racer it would've been PlayStation version of Forza Horizon.
Quite possibly. It would have needed to move away from being pure arcade, to add some sim aspects, for it to be i Horizon's ballpark but it could have been done. Open world racing seems to be the one area where the PS lacks anything with it's exclusives. Certainly anything decent.

I bought the PS3 for this. I am keeping a PS3 just for Motorstorm. And I spent more time looking at the after-race footage than I spent actually racing. The sound was always fantastic and I Shazamed most of them into my Music archive. @Sony: We need the #perfectMotorStorm!
motorstorm has always been with me and runs through my veins and over 3 million players my goodness I miss the motostorm since they shut down the motorstorm apocalypse servers in 2018 on august the 28th
Maaann, this was my game! I loved all 3 games and played them like crazy. It never got boring for me. It's a shame they didn't remaster the trilogy or come out with another game.

I know many people will disagree but in my opinion Apocalypse was by far my favourite Motorstorm title. Yes the story was very cartoonish and silly but it was so much fun! The tracks felt huge and the destruction was epic! I would absolutely love it if they remastered it!
Imagine a revival on the ps5. I would buy a ps5 just to play it.

Sony are still stuck in their old, legacy industry ways. The only way they can survive is by holding IP's and Studios hostage with exclusivity deals. Meanwhile, Microsoft is well aware that PC's are the future and are acting accordingly. And Nintendo has the handheld market nailed down.

When the Playstation 3 came out . I went to a game store en their it was ps3 demo with motorstorm on and nobody around lol , it felt like magical . I allways loved motorstorm I hope a new one will come out on Playstation 5

That brings back memories, I remember when I was younger when I went to eb games or any other gaming store there always used to be a ps3 or 4 where set up and you could play a collection that they had at hand, sad they don't do it any more
Pacific Rift was so good, still playing it, the soundtrack is fantastic
Motorstorm Apocalypse was utterly insane in 3D, and pretty good on a regular TV (it still holds up well).
I played Motorstorm Pacific rift! It was a adrenaline fueled wreck fest with a bombastic soundtrack to match the action on screen!
Sony should reboot the franchise on the upcoming PS5!
I remember my dad got the ps3 when it first came out and I was a kid and the intro to motorstorm seemed like a movie. Graphics were incredible for the time and pacific rift was one of my favourite games ever
I still have the three main games, got them all when they each came out and have loved them ever since. I would love to see a return for old and new fans to experience what awesome games they were
This series along with burnout and flatout were a key part of my childhood. Sad to see their all but gone now.
Pacific Rift was the first PS3 I got and remember playing it a ton when I was a kid. I remember struggling to get past each tier and it took me for so long to get 8th one open. Many years later I revisited the game and finally got a gold medal in every race.

MotorStorm was my childhood racing game, I’d be so happy if it got a new sequel or a combo pack of all 5 of them remastered. If they were to make a new one, I think it should go back to the roots. No dialogue or character based story, no human factor at all. Just pure, cars in extreme environments pushing the limits and exploding in beautiful pileups
I have 2 motorstorm games, I miss this franchise. I've always been a fan or racing games, these games have definitely one of my favourite games. I remember them, Pasific rift and apocalypse

Imagine the insane graphics. Ideal location would be to include both desert (Motorstorm 1) & island (Motorstorm: Pacific Rift). Best of both worlds.

I agree because i use to play motorstorm and motorstorm apocalypse, With my mates back in 2011 to 2014. I was around 6 to 8 when i was playing those games. The good old days, im forshore going back.
I have a lot of good memories with Motorstorm, I remember my dad getting Motorstorm Pacific Rift soon after my parents divorced, at I used to play this with him at his apartment. Good memories.
You didnt mention that the people codemasters hired from evolution went on to make Onrush. Also I would buy a collection of motor storm on ps4

This year everytime when my good friend comes over we play motorstorm split screen. We have so much fun with every race. There are no games anymore like these. The search for the fastest route in that rough dynamic terrain.

Motorstorm Pacific rift was the best thing I played on the PS3. By the time I got the game, the online was shut down, but the game kept me coming back for more, be it the racing or the glorious soundtrack!
I miss those games so much. Played Pacific Rift and Apocalypse. There is no other game in that particular style.

Pacific rim was the best racing game I've played. Every car type has its own unique strategy and all play together on absolutly beautiful maps. I want it back so badly

I got the motorstorm with my 3D PS Monotor with the 4 pairs of 3D glasses. Very expensive at release but i have to tell you that we still use the monitor today and it is still working great. With the glasses two players could play at the same time and see only their individual game. Quite impressive.
I grew up on Motorstorm: Pacific Rift and Mx vs ATV: Unleased. I remember in both games always learning the rallycar vehicles

Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is an even better game. Compared to the dull environment in Apocalypse, Pacific Rift have superior tracks, brighter colours of the island location 🏝️🏁
I also enjoy the first Motorstorm in the desert 🏜, as well as Motorstorm: Arctic Edge (PSP) 🇦🇶
There's an absolute lack of high profile arcade racing games in the current gen. Motorstorm would have been a perfect franchise to show console hardware capability due to the amount spectacle in the gameplay. Driveclub is a nice game and all (great arcade physics, amazing visuals and sound), but it lacks something that helps it stand out from other racing games which also utilize real world cars. I don't get why Sony didn't stick with Motorstorm for Evolution Studios when they already they had Polyphony doing their work for real world car brands with GT. Sucks that WipEout's Liverpool studio also closed and now we've got a scarcity of racing game options that would cater to the non sim crowd.
I have more fun on the sim side of things myself, but the racing genre is getting this image of being boring because companies are always promoting similar products. If companies are smart, they would release and make a hard push for a unique arcade racing game now because the window is WIIIDE OPEN. Mario Kart 8 showed that people are still looking for a casual fun time in the racing genre.
I started replaying this recently because my pic is broke. Honestly a real good game, I have a lot of memories of this game.

I just played motorstorm apocalypse for the first time on ps3. Its AMAZING! Its like Speed Racer the game, so over the top action, I definitely would love to see a comeback for this series, I think people would love it

I played the original Motorstorm online all the time, ranked as 'God' loool , I'd try to master every track... So addicting and fun ... They added a time attack for online, where you could follow the #1 players Ghost, try to keep up and find the best routes.
I remember MotorStorm on the PS3 I believe it was the first game I had. I just thought that it was so mind-blowing and ahead-of-its-time. I miss fling through the desert and bursting into a million pieces. Also the burning man with racing theme was sick

I remember being 10 years old and seeing my friend play motorstorm on his PS3 and my mind was beyond blown, it was the first time I've ever seen the "next gen" at the time console. I really hope they get something together for the PS5

Literally went down a rabbit hole on UA-cam because I never owned this game but remember every time I was at a Target or Walmart and they had a demo I would play this. Remembered one specific song from it (Breed by Nirvana) and the graphics were great for the time

The best racing franchise in my opinion, equal to the burnout series. I cant see why they aren't doing one because there are literally zero arcade racing games anymore and they would make a killing.
