    Another musical genius born and raised in Seattle. I'm not surprised.

    God, I still remember hearing this song for the first time when it came out and becoming instantly obsessed. I used to listen to Fantastic Planet from beginning to end over and over and over. I can’t think of another album that has ever affected me the way FP did except maybe Alice in Chains’ “Dirt”. The weird thing was that nobody around me ever really even acknowledged Failure. I knew no other fans until I met a dude back in 2004/2005 while deployed to the Middle East, and it was like meeting a long-lost brother for the first time.

      ConanTheRepublican It’s crazy just how memorable the discovery was for us and yet so many more still don’t even know them. I’m so thankful for the fact that I didn’t miss out!

      In the late 90s I was hooked on heroin and all I listened to was failure , HUM and mogwai and slide in and out of consciousness.

      W0weeZ0wee I’m kinda glad it didn’t. The few times i saw them in the 90’s were all intimate performances at smaller venues- except Lollapalooza of course. Until they regrouped, being a failure fan was like being in a secret cult with their music being stuff of legend.

    Ken, Greg and Troy all favor unique chord structures, tunings and arrangements. They are all unorthodox players.

    It's wild I remember being 19 watching this same video on UA-cam like it was yesterday. I was slowly becoming a huge Failure fan, but I still hadn't found a CD of Fantastic Planet. Got one a year later in 08. It's just weird that this video is 17 years old when it feels like I watched it a couple of years ago.

    I stopped lending out my copy of FP because those fuckers kept stealing it and I'd have to buy it again. Now I just sit their ass down and play it for them then and there. That album was a life-changer for me and I spread the gospel whenever I can.

    You sir, know damn well what you're talking about. I was sucked into Failure when I heard APC's cover of "The Nurse Who Loved Me." I downloaded the original on a whim and was just blown away. I've been a Failure/YotR/On/Replicants/Autolux/Ken Andrews fan ever since.

  • @GenteelCretin
    @GenteelCretin 14 років тому +5

    I think the most impressive part of the harmony is the flatted third as a major chord. It's surprising how that doesn't melodically clash. And doesn't the overall lick kinda mixolydian sounding? I d'know. It's late and I'm tired and impressed.
    Great composition.
