The tradition is more important than most folks realise. One of my favourite artists Nick Lowe who married to Jonny Cash step daughter Carlene Carter once did an interview about despite being a London public school boy that if you really love this music and it’s from the heart then picking up the baton as it were is quite alright as you have to sing these songs with that southern inflection. Even Bill Burr made a video about how he was addicted to those tales from the tour bus about Paycheck, Jones, Shaver ect. As someone from the U.K. I can only say how deeply moving the good stuff is
I saw Pop at Eddie Jeff Cahill’s memorial. He was talking to Spider John and I didn’t want to interrupt a reunion between those two to introduce myself.
