    It's rough watching somebody kill their wheel. Even when it's necessary. Hope this keeps everyone safe and allows all the affected wheels to get fixed. Stay safe everyone.

      @@jansvoboda9778 It does indeed kill the wheel though. This is the whole point of the test.

      Doesn't this essentially make the wheel unsafe?

    Mine did cut off on december 31st, second batch wheel. It happened this way also, I was riding then hit brakes to go over a gutter. Motor gave up over the gutter. Thankfully I wasn't beaten too bad. The store took the wheel and they are recalled by inmotion. I wasn't reckless when riding. We'll see how they solve it.

    Yeah I don't know about all that I bet if I do something that violent to my 16x is probably going to burn or break something as well

      I wouldn't say so, I've had 3 instances were I pushed the wheel to a cut off, and it still rides as when I got it.

    His last word- burnt, wheel bloked (koleso zaklinlo), maybe that means motor damaged because of hi rpm

    I spoke with a rep from Alien Rides. He said they used 100v MOSFETs in on a 100.8v system. It's already running past the limits of the MOSFET by design. Bad design. We always build in headroom for high amperage draws when building race drones that DON'T carry a human.. Inmotion will be sending out new control units to the suppliers who will most likely will help through video calls with self installation of the new board vs everyone having to send it in for weeks or more.

    So a non-defective unit will not burn like this? Or will any wheel burn out from doing this many times?

    • @RTS_2008
      @RTS_2008 2 роки тому +1

      If I'm understanding the test correctly, then a non defective wheel will be able to turn back on afterwards. Notice how he's not able to turn his wheel back on after doing the test for the second time? His wheel was bad, and now dead. Inmotion recommends doing this test at least 10 times to make sure your wheel is good. If your wheel manages to turn back on after each of the 10 tests then you are in the clear.

    Can someone please explain to me what is suppose to happen and what is not suppose to happen?
    Is the V12 suppose to turn off after accelerating and then braking? I got my V12 today and I did the test. I think mine is defected because I accelerate till it beeps then I quickly try to brake but it just shuts off after 2 trys. And also after trying the test about 5 times, my V12 would not turn on for 2 minutes.

    • @RTS_2008
      @RTS_2008 2 роки тому

      Yes, your wheel should turn off after doing this test. If your able to turn it back on then that means your good. I'm pretty sure this test is supposed to kill the wheel entirely if you had a defective one. I'm gonna be honest, I have no idea if your wheel not turning on for 2 minutes is a bad indication or not. I would contact Inmotion and ask them.

    I would like to see Amperage while this test, if its over 100A so you deliberatly damaging your device, I never exceed 30A while riding

    • @InsanitiesBrother

      Mosfets are rated at 100v, the wheel operates at 100v.
      100v Mosfets can in theory take more voltage than 100v, but obviously they are only rated for 100v.
      When you brake hard a large amount of power is required. Amperage can only go so high, therefore the voltage being put through the Mosfets can spike. If this spike is over 100v and you have Mosfets operating at their max already, they may blow.
      This isn't about abuse. This is the V12 having an issue. He tested for his in the bathroom instead of trying to brake because a car pulled out or something. In both situations the cut-out would happen, but this way he is safe.
