    Dear friends, a 1.3 kilo Florentine steak is expensive because from that part of the beef you get few, since it is the best cut of the whole animal. Such prized meat, unfortunately, has a cost that is in line with its quality. In addition, there is the whole conservation for many days, to be taken into account and which also affects the price. A tip: when you eat the Florentine, in addition to the lean meat, cut and stick on the fork a small piece of the external fat (small, I recommend) and eat it together with the leaner meat. The fat flavors the Florentine enormously.A big hug to you from Italy!

    Fine dining is the pleasure of life. I worked in a French fine dining in Bermuda. I enjoyed every minute of this video esp. the expressions of their faces. Ambience of the ristorante is superb. Walking in a display of dry aged beef. When the bistecca arrived, wow just the way I liked it. Charred outside & rare inside. Reasonable price. We just ate at Toca Madera, Aria Resorts in Las Vegas. Our 40oz. Wagyu tomahawk steak was $225 with a bottle of Amarone 1998. Excelentisimo!

    I had it back in 1998 when I was in Italy for work. It wasn’t at that restaurant. But Florence has many great steak places. It was almost a joke, an American, an Australian, and a Brit walk in to a steak house. It was a steak I still remember it 25 years later. It’s a bargain at any price.

    We told them we were very SERIOUS wine lovers, they came up with a Tignanello 1989. One of the best experience we've had in our lives. This was on our 11th anniversay.

    126 euros for 1.3Kg of very high quality meat and a good bottle of wine doesn't seem like such a crazy expense to mee, if we think of this "phantom trend" of wagyu meat from japan, which is good but certainly not as good as Chianina! for me you did very well and I'm glad you had fun! a hug to both ❤🥩

      Agree totally with your comment. Expensive, yes. But worth it. I have seen crazy high prices in other countries and not worth it by comparison. Those can be sort of, ripping you off, price wise. This is not that.

      Sorry reaper I have eaten both Chianina and A5 Miyazaki and it’s decidedly prospective, Japanese wagyu is way richer almost melting earthy in flavor an unbelievable eating experience while Chianina is robust in beef flavor and extremely tender especially the rarest parts, the level of animal husbandry that goes into breeding and bringing both breeds to the table is phenomenal neither is a gimmick and as someone who has had the privilege and pleasure of having both they’re equal

    Love Bistecca alla Fiorentina! There's a trattoria across the street from the front door of our house in Italy (Pontremoli, MS) called Trattoria Peliccia that does wonderful classic cuisine from our area. Raffaello, the chef, is a master of the Fiorentina (and his roast potatoes are sublime, soft and creamy on the inside, wonderfully flavored with rosemarino and garlic). If you don't want something as big as the Fiorentina look for tagliata - similar but more for one person.

    I’ve just returned from lake Como and the restaurant in the hotel had steak fiorentina for 57 euros for two people which I went for on my own, it was delicious .

    This was exactly what I needed as I lay in bed sick as a dog! OMG you guys are awesome! Micha you are my girl, we could definitely hang and do some damage to some good wine! I love how you “squeezed” the last drop out of that bottle 😂😂😂😂! I haven’t been to Florence yet but this will for sure be n the to do list when I return to Italy. I always eat my steak rare to medium rare so this would be right up my ally and 126€ is not bad at all. Thanks for sharing and stay safe❤❤

    YES! You ate the steak of the gods! I LOVE that steak at Cucina Marione in Florence, but where you went looks amazing! Hint, hint, hint: The creme de la creme flavored steak is on the BONE! NEVER LET THEM TAKE AWAY THE BONE UNTIL YOU HAVECLEANED IT WHITE!! ir's so true what they say, "BAD TO THE BONE!!!"

    You only live once and if I went I would have to try it. Beautiful Steak and a night you will never forget. I have watched many people eat this same steak and always the same reaction. Has to be cooked with the right beef and the right charcoal and the right way. What a night.

    A tip, we had a 1.3 kg at that same restaurant before 6 pm and it will only cost you 90 euros and I sliced the remaining meat off the bone

    I’ve also been to Florence and heard how good the Florentine steaks are, while there I tried one and yes the meat was amazing, it’s the best I’ve ever had all over the world … honest it was that good, I’ve never tasted steak as good as the one in Florence.

    Had Chianina steak at the Trattoria dall'Oste two years ago. Top three steaks in my entire life (and I'm not in my 20s, lol)! The sizzling on a hot stone is definitely part of the expérience. Had quite the same experience (with the hot stone and everything) in a very local and modest restaurant somewhere in the hills above Lake Como. At a much lower price! 😀 But hey, that's Florence... ;-)

    126 euros is the tourist price. There is a Trattoria in Firenze that I know of that charged 3.5 euros per hg (approx. 60 euros for 1kg) for bistecca alla fiorentina. Apparently this place is popular with the locals and has been around since the 50s. A lot of other places in Firenze charge higher tourist prices for the steak

    always remember that the smaller of the 2 sides of a T bone is the fillet, the larger is the sirloin. Fillet is the nicer side!

      Not really mate, in Florence we used to eat "costola" that Is the part without filet and Is very very nice (and cheaper). The filet Is more tender but less tasty. Next time u have to try

    It's a catching trend with the fiorentina, but the meat itself sells for around 40€/kg for fresh Chianina, even more for an aged steak. So from that standpoint, in a restaurant, it's not that costly but definitely not cheap as no chianina steak is cheap to buy in the first place. Glad you enjoyed.

    Back in 2008 I was near Arezzo visiting my father in law and went to buy and at the butcher this kind of steak (chianina) costed then around 40 euro per kilo. So no it's not expensive

      That's so exciting Jeffrey, we hope you are having an amazing time! 😍🇮🇹 So all we did was go to The Fork website, put in the restaurant / choose the location, because there are a few in the city (we went to the Borgo S. Lorenzo location near the Duomo). Then from the calendar you can see what days and times are available, and what discount is offered as well. Select what you want and confirm your booking, then they will send you an e-mail with the details. Just screenshot it / show them the confirmation e-mail at the restaurant before you pay at the end of the meal, and that's it! We hope you enjoy it!! 🤗

      Yes, but not this cut. You can have a ribeye (costata), a New York Strip (controfiletto), or a filet. The bistecca alla fiorentina (t-bone) can't be smaller than this.

    This steak is actually priced quite reasonably for two people, I've had dry aged ribeye that's 1/4 of the size for $70 a plate.

      Sine Bryld You have to understand that a restaurant has to make a certain of money out of each table, and number of customers I know as a small restaurant owner for 24 years, now retired; that is why many of them charge a cover charge, the business is very volatile and why the percentage of failure is so high.

    What if I’m traveling solo? How can I eat florentine steak?? I want to try but I will not be able to finisha 1.3kg steak on my own! Is there a smaller cut less than 1 kg?

    The cost of a Fiorentina is about 30€ per kg, so you do pay a lot more if you want it served and perfectly cooked in a restaurant. Is it worth it? You decide. 30€ per kilo is pretty much a normal price for good meat, so you really can't complain about it. 120? That's steep. But I see you have enjoyed it so much so I guess it is worth it.

    Sono stato a Firenze diverse volte e non tutte le bistecche sono uguali. Il prezzo fa la differenza. Solo ristoranti con carne esposta, e meno di 50 € / kg non vale la pena, purtroppo. Dall’Oste é ottima è molto centrale, ma non è l’unica.

    High quality T-Bone or filet should be eaten rare and we do this in Europe all the time. Only in countries where they don’t trust their meat are they saying ridiculous things like “it’s still mooing”
