Only two things were certain at the Watkins Glen Grand Prix. (1) rain and (2) more rain.

I was there with two of my friends - it was cold, gloomy, windy and rained a lot over the entire weekend...we camped in the infield (between turns 9 & 10 and the backstretch), and drank air temperature local Genesee Cream Ale - that they were selling right off the back of a semi-trailer near the paddock. The only time we were warm was at "The Bog" at night (area between turns 8-9 & 10-11 of the track), a kind of dished-out, muddy, football shaped amphitheater area where cars were stolen and burned (you had to make damn sure to keep you car locked at all times - so the "Bog-monsters" didn't get it!). The only time we were somewhat dry was when we went through the Kendall race garages, where you could watch all the mechanics working on the cars up close. We watched the race from the outside of turn 11, where you could see the front straight and final corner...James Hunt won a a rainy race, and Niki Lauda finished 4th, to clinch his 2nd World championship in a Ferrari.

Those opening laps with Stuck were just nuts. He hung on the outer edge in the anvil, amazing to watch even though we knew it couldn't last.

Was at that race...and the races from 1971 to 1980. Nice footage.

Your choice of music for your video is interesting. It certainly draws me back to that period of time and just how much I miss it.
