Hi Blaize, love the vids. I’m hitting Niseko in late Jan with the fam, so I will try and keep a look out for you….staying at the Village though. Can’t wait to get back to Niseko.
Ski coming off sucks. Took me 15mins to find mine last time there and it was 20m downhill from where I dropped it. Gave me the sh ts! Might see ya early Feb.....
@@scollyutube yeah it does, I think I might get some ski tracers. I've had to look for one for over an hour before and it sucks. Slows the whole group down.
hi i just wanted to say i love the content your making and how beautiful it is to show us your daily life skiing also i wanted to ask where do you go skiing?
Hi mate, I ski mostly at Niseko United in Hokkaido. I do usually do a few trips to Rusutsu which is close by and some backcountry ski touring around the area.
Greetings from NZ Blaize. Love the content. I'm looking forward to my first time in Japan. I've subscribed so I expect a beer but I wont be there 'till early March. And ill be at Rusutsu so, unlikely, never know. Thanks for the effort every morning mate!
Hey mate, happy to hear you enjoy the videos! I hope you like Japan as much as I do, it's such a cool place! Early March can have some really great skiing, especially as the resorts are quieter. I do get over to Rusutsu every so often, so if you do see me, say hello and I'll be happy to buy us a round!
@@XIII1013 I ski as hard as I can until there's no more fresh tracks. Usually that is between 11-1pm depending on the day, time of year and what terrain is open. I have zero interest in skiing choppy, carved up snow so would rather push myself as hard as I can in the morning, skip lunch and get as many fresh laps as I can. Then head home in the arvo. I also ski almost every day so it's hard to be doing full days of skiing 7 days per week.
I certainly do, that's usually the only place I ride. Gate 3 only just opened the other day, and my videos are about a week behind the current date (editing unfortunately takes some serious time haha). Make sure you're subscribed as there will be plenty of content from the peak and some cheeky backcountry touring later in the season!
That is my ultimate goal as well! I have no idea how I will make it happen, but I have a feeling doing this UA-cam gig is a good step in the right direction.
Loving the content mate keep it up. Just wandering are tree wells much of a problem there? I'm an Aussie living in Whistler Canada and tree wells are a massive hazard here because the trees catch the snow in the leafs and creates a well around the base of the tree. Looking at the footage it doesn't look like the trees catch the snow cause there is no leaves.
Hey mate, tree wells aren't really much of a thing over here as there are no evergreen fern trees like Canada. That's not to say they can't develop, but it's nothing like Canada where they are a huge hazard. All the trees here shed their leaves and so you don't really have the same risk. However, Japan does have its own set of hazards like creeks which are reasonably easy to find if you like to ski in valleys.
Gate 5 puts you on skiers left of the Hana 3 chair (it wasn't open at the time this video was shot). I was skiers right of the chair in the first two runs, so still technically inside the resort.

I agree that Niseko is the best but do you have any other mountain recommendations in Hakaido?
@JudePhilipp I've been to Rusutsu and Furano and they are also both great.
Not getting ski this season or probably for a while has been a bummer for me. But glad to have this great content to watch
Glad I can help you get a bit of a ski fix when you need it. Hoping you get back on the slopes soon!
