I went to university in Preston nearly 20 years ago - it was a great place to be a student, but it was a little bit faded then. It is great to see the positive changes that have happened there since despite our terrible national government, thanks to a fantastic city council and a lot of local ambition - the new market looks brilliant, and even the paving on the streets looks nice!

@@salus1231 By coincidence, just before I watched this video, I watched one on the Forbes [Rich List] channel about an Indian businessman called Adani who has become the 5th richest man [overtaking Buffet]. The Forbes family [which includes the likes of John Forbes Kerry] like the Delanos [e.g. Franklin Delano Roosevelt] also made their fortunes in the Opium peddling. Much of the British Victorian wealth actually came from looting India [the very word 'loot' is Hindi for plunder] - Robert Clive Returned home from Bengal with his loot as the richest man in Europe and his EICo mafia became the new rich 'nobs' [from nawab/nabob] whilst 1/3 of Bengal died in the Great 1770 famine they had created. As Prof. Jason Hickel tells in his Al Jazeera article online, Britain's Industrial Revolution and much else in Britain was actually built with the $45 Trillion looted from India over 200 yrs [as research published by Columbia UP in 2018 showed].

not gonna lie to you, weather is pretty bad. October-April is very rainy/snowy/frosty/windy/foggy/cloudy. May-September is basically the same but a bit warmer and its sunny sometimes. Max temp is about 23°. avg for summer is about 15°. Avg for winter is about 3° in the day.
@@jones8612 just get some warm clothes and a water proof coat and you'll be reet. its windy and foggy quite often too which make it feel a lot colder than the actual temperature.
hot.... but often very ,very, very humid though, even when it hasn't rained in a bit cos of the river and the docks and such lots of wet in the air, tad better on the out skirts of the city as the air has more room to move. Preston and for the most part most of Lancashire to the west of the Pennines tends to be a tad warmer than other areas this north like Yorkshire year round, airs also a bit more damp year round as the Pennines helps to both block colder air moving in from the north sea and also trap the slightly warmer air from the Irish sea.
@Mel Halleron I am sure you haven’t contributed to it by shopping on line. If this has hollowed out the high street it is no point moaning about it now.

One thing you can say about the Victorians is that even in the most industrial town they 'parked' them up well
