Met Noel while in prison in the 90's @ Highdown. I had never been in trouble before so speaking to him and hearing his stories back then helped me understand the life of crime. I left 9 months later and thanks to Noel's words I never returned to prison or a life of crrime again. I did write a few times, and have a typed short story of his (if he reads this maybe he will remember - "The avenging angels in blue"). Tried to keep a lookout for what he has been upto since he got released and this was a great find. Thx Noel for your words back then.

Best comment I've ever read about crime and the supposed 'clean' world of banking. Bankers are definitely the biggest robbers out there, they love nothing better than destroying people with poxy credit cards, high interest loans, business loans, mortgages etc. Dozy Muppets like that engineered the last recession and are no doubt licking their skanky lizard like mouths at the global recession this Coronavirus Lockdown has created! Globally businesses will close, people will lose their homes, people will lose their jobs but you can bet the bankers will make a literal killing from all this!

@@DMWBN3 Agreed, the upper class are the biggest robbers of all. Look at the royal family for example, robbed the public of around £60 - £100 MILLION PER YEAR of taxpayers hard earned money. And all they do is parade around doing nothing but living their privileged lives while acting holier than thou. They should lock up the royal family and throw away the key. Put the queen in solitary confinement for the rest of her days.

What a bloke. Can't believe I've only just found this podcast. I read Noels first book years ago and loved it. Noel is a fucking hero. Not from what he used to be, but due to the turn around. He showed change can happen. When you're an alcoholic and at you're lowest, hearing stories like Noels and his transformation is so reassuring. Let's face it, Noel was just an addict too, his drug of choice being the buzz from his crimes. What's mad for me is that my life turned around when I started writing. Basically mirroring Noels own life. So, through all your victims Noel, consider this life one you helped get back on track. For that sir, I am forever grateful. Best wishes mate. And thank you James for this, loved every second!

I spoke to Noel a couple of months ago in a fone conversation, about writing an article for the newspaper INSIDE TIMES,and I'm thinking he is probably some guy who has done a few sentences in the past and managed to get himself a job working with a newspaper! Did nt have a clue about his past- until I watched this documentary! What a character, and lovely guy,a genuine guy who somehow managed to turn his life around and offer so much to help other's who could quite easily followed his footsteps. His hurt and remorse for his wastfull life, the loss of his son while rotting within a jail in a bare existence that has no compassion, no humanity, no rehabilitation; a system geared only to break the spirit in a world of witless persecution. Came across a right genuine guy with so much to offer and came out the other end of the prison system...not as a psychopath, not as a robber nor a villain, but a man who got an opportunity and embraced it. Total respect to you Noel for all the right reasons.
    Johnny Steele.

32 years in prison. You still don't seem to have a clue about his past.

He's no hero but A Few Kind Words and a Loaded Gun, which I read years ago, is by far the best 'villain' autobiography out there and Noel seems the least narcissistic and the most likeable of these old gangland types. Good interview. I'm surprised he's out. Good luck to him.
