instantly became one of my favorite drummers when i saw the "fish" video. great solo. musical, had a rhythmic theme, and expanded on it nicely from there. flexed his control, musicality, and chops through it all. great stuff. the return to the theme caught me off guard but impressed me.
This guy will never break a cymbal in his entire life...so much money saved...probably doesn't have to buy any heads for such an incredible amount of time as well...
I don't mean this negatively but that's on you, not on him. he's an artist making decisions and it's up to you to decide whether it is to you worth following... not up to him to "go somewhere." and I think the experience is very different, having something a little sparser like this rather than just beelines from beat to beat... the latter would be a very different statement. further, I think it's healthy, especially in this day and age of instant gratification, to follow an artist's vision and try to extend your acceptable time limits on excitement and expectation. that all sounds super hippy dippy... I just found this solo fascinating and partly due to how it rubbed against my first knee-jerk reaction, which you kind of summed up in your comment :)

you should start crediting your videographers / producers in the bio! they deserve the shout out
what a wonderfully assembled drum kit. add that to the masterful playing and you get a unique sound.
This is definitely one of the absolute best drum solos I have ever witnessed in my entire life.

Atmosphere, textures, storytelling, technique, control, dynamic, PERSONALITY.... one of those drummers that's so ahead of the game.
for my money.... this is the single most relaxing drum video ever recorded. i intend no offense. lovely rhythms and textures coming from this artist.
Very tasteful.

If there is one thing that stays consistent with all of Amir's amazing videos with Meinl, is the phenomenal sound engineer.

you know you have you're own style when you have 2 rides
BGaming Videos Well actually, a lot of drummers use two rides, especially in jazz contexts :)
Go Israel!
and never come bag .
@@rolandhillmann7475 Bag, lol
If Ilan Rubin was stoner. lol
I really do try to appreciate these kinds of solos but if you don't really go anywhere within the first 60 seconds it's very easy to lose interest.

Dude, I thought the same. I lost interest in solos like Tony Royster's and Thomas Pridgen's, basically I lost interest for the go fast hit hard solos.
First half is a bore, but gets groovy.
This is obviously an exception, but 99,9% of drum solos suck because they don't groove.
early
One of my favorite drummers....... So under appreciated.
I really enjoyed this. I think it is the first time a drum solo made me feel relaxed.
What a fantastic and unique performance! Bravo!
A drum solo where the drummer actually has something to say!!
They're so rare.
i would be very grateful if someone told me the drums used here.. especially the snare drum
That was an amazing performance.
Absolutely beautiful!
wow....
The hihat chick was the only bearable part

The first 4 or 5 mins was absolute bullshit!!!!!!
