My home is English cottage, farmhouse with a touch of traditional. My husband and I painted our entire home inside with Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter. The trim is white and we use shades of blue, green and yellow throughout. This soft cottage style is so relaxing and we love it. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home and ideas with us.
Our kitchen walls are green. The 1/2 bath has the same green on the cabinets & ceiling with a wallpaper. The main bath green cabinets and wallpaper. The green in these rooms has been so easy to decorate with, as each season changes! It’s so soothing.
I’ve been designing homes for over 30 years and the shade of green that continues to elevate, get higher asking prices, looks great with every other shade and never gets old is Ralph Lauren’s-mexican feathergrass
Sage green is my favorite! I painted my entire main floor in the palest hue of sage, including my kitchen walls. My cabinets are cream. It's so soothing and timeless. It took me several colors before I landed on this and now I don't keep feeling like I need a change in color. Thank you for this video. Great suggestions
I adore green. It's my favorite color. My living room is painted in a light sage green - it's actually a color I created by mixing several paint samples together and having the hardware store color match it. I was struggling to find the perfect warm, light, cozy, and calm sage for the living room, which is the main room of my house. The sage living room is paired with a warm beige couch and rocking chair, plus tan ticking stripe curtains, and pops of reddish coral throughout. I have some red plaid pillows, red transferware dishes on the wall, and a beige rug with a terracotta pattern. I just love the combination of green & red together (and not just in a Christmas-y way!) This video inspired me to do a blue and green theme for my bedroom. I think I will go with a lighter sage on my bedroom walls & complement it with a blue and green rug, blue transferware on the walls, and beige plaid curtains. Love your channel, can't wait to read the blog post for this video!
I adore the color green, too! And like you, I've discovered how well it goes with a faded Nantucket red. Your bedroom scheme sounds peaceful and beautiful! I hope you enjoyed the blog post, too! Thanks for sharing and for stopping by. 🌷
I've always had green around me, even as a small child. I think it's the deep connection to nature that inspires this. Also dark pinks and burgundies I love mixing in with green. Have a lovely weekend Rachel 😊 xx
Good afternoon, Miss Liana! You're right, green just seems to be a natural choice and so easy to work with. Green and coral are a favorite outfit combination for me! Burgundy with a rich, darker green is gorgeous, too. Enjoy your weekend as well! 🌷
Good morning, friends! I'm delighted to be sharing a few thoughts on using a classic cottage color in our homes ~ green! Not only is this one of my favorite colors, but it it versatile, timeless and easy to work with. I hope you enjoy this visit and will pop over to Sarah's channel and see her green video as well. Let me know if you have green color questions, or other color questions. Thanks for dropping by!
I love all of the green ideas to shared with us today. I LOVE Duval kitchens.😍 That’s how I am trying to get my kitchen makeover to turn out.✨👌🏻🤍 Lovely video, sweet friend.🤍
Thank you, Sarah! Duval kitchens are the epitome of inviting cottage kitchens. Can hardly wait to see your kitchen makeover!!! Glad you enjoyed the video. 😊
I’m finishing up an English cottage kitchen remodel….used October Mist {green/gray} for cabinets, wood counters and a muted floral wallpaper with a green gray background above vertical wall planks. I love it!
Oh, your kitchen sounds delightful! October Mist is light and fresh. We are in the midst of a kitchen remodel as well, and, like you, we will be using wood countertops. The mix of millwork and wallpaper sounds gorgeous ~ I just wish I could see it!
Green is my favorite color. I use it in every room. If you love English country style the PBS series “All Creatures Great And Small,” have the most beautiful shades and uses of green ever!!!❤
What a fabulous video that shows complementary colors to pair with greens. When we bought our house, we found our master bathroom walls were all painted a sea foam/sage green. We have left one wall that color and the others are now cream. We have brought back more green with houseplants. You’ve shown me ways to use green as an accent color for our home. We’ve now incorporated verdigris green as our tertiary color for our living room. I’m gradually getting out of my comfort zone. 😜 Thank you for another great episode, Sarah.
Good morning, Miss Sarah! It sounds like you are doing well incorporating green into your home. Green and cream are beautiful together. I'm glad you picked up some useful tips. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and project development!
25 years ago I did my house in mainly sage green with a decorator consult. I remember her telling me green want a color. Guess who want my consultant any longer. I did what I liked and in this house I repeated many of the same colors. I have brought in blonde in by sherwin Williams. Those go together nicely.
I just love your channel!. I have been binge watching your videos from the beginning. I have received so much inspiration from you but yet don't feel pressured or inadequate with what I've done. You are so calming, entertaining and informative! Thanks so much and I'll look forward to future videos!!
How very kind, Miss Heather! It's always encouraging to know when others have useful tips and inspiration! Thank you for choosing to spend time with us! 🌷
Hi Rachel. This was fun. My favorite surprised me as I usually go for light and airy. The brown wallpaper is fabulous. Very 40s-50s looking. My favorite green us a soft spring green. Cheers!
Green is the ultimate color, I don’t understand how it’s been neglected for so long in designs. One thing to note about green is that it acts as a neutral color yet it brings in some personality depending on the saturation and tone used. It’s funny cause I have a cottage with very very little lighting except the bedroom and bathroom, so I stuck with yellow/cream walls to brighten the space yet not have it be too stark with an all white walls. However, for my bedroom I knew I wanted something a little calmer so I had a green called cucumber green, reminds me of a spa oasis haha, and then I stenciled with white a design called birds of paradise, and have one accent walls where the doors are at white white bead board. The combination turned out so lovely and relaxing. Like I said, green is the ultimate color, just got to know how to use it properly.
This is a *wonderful* video, Mrs. Rachel! And yes, I can confirm that a living space painted sage green is soothing and beautiful. My living room walls are painted a color that's very similar to the room at 1:29, and I absolutely *love it!* I wanted that room to bring in the colors from the Appalachian Mountains that I can see from my windows, and a warm sage green really did it. So I would say to anyone who's reluctant to step outside their comfort zone and use this color that it's a timeless, beautiful look that you won't regret!
You're completely right, Miss Suzanne! Green is gorgeous, soothing, warming, and timeless. How lovely to bring the mountains inside! Thank you for sharing, and have a blessed day. 🌷
This is a perfect video since I just painted another room in my house green. Green is my favorite color and it’s far as I’m concerned. you can’t go wrong with green.
I always learn something when I watch your videos. Sage green is a colour shade that I can remember being in for the last 20 some years. My daughter had it in her first home and she left home 20 years ago. I wish I loved to live with it, but I don't. I have had shades of red in my home for the last forty years and I can't see that changing. Thank you for the video, I'm hoping you will show us your home soon??
Oh, I love the variety! If everyone's home was green, that wouldn't be nearly as interesting. Embrace your red! Yes, we are working towards sharing phase 2 of the living room makeover. Life can have setbacks... today, high winds blew over our shed and nearly half the back fence... So, we'll be fencing next week! 😀
I really enjoyed this video Miss Rachel. I am working with green as a color in every room, only in different ways, but the primary color. I loved the warmer greens. One thing I have trouble with is sometimes is I fall in love with a green on a card but on the wall, not so much. Stay safe if you're in line of the tornadoes today as we are.
So glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, good color from a card does not always compute to a good color on the wall. I love the warmer greens to! Thank you for stopping by, and may you and your family be safe as well.
I love green with blue or pink. I had to giggle, I really thought you were going to show us a wall you had wallpapered with something painted green. Love Sarah’s channel. Take Care ~ Janet 😘
Hello there, Miss Janet! Well, I have been working on the next phase for the living room, and dining room. Good guess... there is color, pattern, and wallpaper involved! Thanks for stopping by!
Hey Rachael :) Sarah is my sister ,, and she decorates beautifully:) and very unique,, I have used green in my decor in the past quite a bit ,,, I need to incorporate some back in:) You are right about green being a natural color :) some great tips :)
Hello there! How fun to meet Sarah's sister! I'm happy to have you here and it sounds like you love green as well. Thanks for dropping by and have a lovely day!
Rachel, I finally was able to watch this video. What fun! I enjoyed your color play. I really liked how you incorporated the wardrobe segments. It's very interesting to see how the colors we like are reflected in different areas of our life. Blessings my friend! 💙
Hello, friend! I'm glad you enjoyed the video, it is interesting to see how we choose colors (sometimes subconsciously) we like in some areas and don't realize we could use them in other areas. Thanks for stopping by & blessings to you too! 🌷
Oh Rachel I can’t wait to see what you decide. You had a wallpaper in your samples that looked like William Morris that is pretty. I have been experimenting with green accent pieces this year and love them. Oh so many choices ❤️
Good morning, Miss Sharen! Sharp eye! Yes, I do have some William Morris amongst my wallpaper samples as his designs are so natural and timeless. Green is such a gorgeous color to work with and goes so well with many other colors. We have created our personal home color palette around greens, blues, creams, and browns. This has worked so well in every space we've used it! Spoiler alert... we've already chosen a wallpaper for the dining room and I'm looking forward to creating and sharing that video. I adore wallpaper! Thanks for stopping by!
This video is perfect timing! I'm going to do my home in shades of green, it's my favourite. Lots of fantastic ideas here. I live in a cold climate (actually one the coldest year round parts of Australia) I'm thinking the warmer greens might be better suited🤔. I've put up all my vintage Sheridan cottage floral curtains and bedlinen and want to pick up the green in part of the pattern. Thankyou for sharing. Really appreciate your channel and decorating style 💚😊
I'm so glad the video was helpful! Your curtains and bed linens sound gorgeous ~ the perfect layering pieces. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your projects! 🌷
Good morning, Ms. Rachel! What a feast for the eyes! Greens and blues have always been a favorite of mine. The palettes and wall coverings all look promising. Looking forward to seeing what you choose for your next project. Thank you for sharing. ❤ Bobbie.
Good morning, Miss Bobbie! Aren't greens & blue gorgeous?! We're working on phase 2 of the living room as well as the dining room makeover. There will definitely be wallpaper! Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely spring day. 🌷
Thanks for this video. A couple months ago we painted our open concept home in Benjamin Moore vale mist (initially planned on using their October mist but it appears too dark in our home). We are so, so happy with the vale mist. We are using blues and some light browns as accent colours. I think green is a timeless colour. I am considering adding a bit of wallpaper so your tips are very helpful!
Good morning, Miss Anne! A gorgeous paint color makes all the difference in how your home feels, and it sounds like your Valer Mist is perfect! We also are using blues, greens, and browns in our home and love it! Oh, you will love wallpaper! We began with an accent wall in the guest bedroom, and now we've papered the dining room. Thank you for dropping by and sharing!
Rachel, what a beautiful tutorial. Thank you. I am a green person and I tend to use it as a neutral. My Great Room is painted a SW beige with a green undertone. I especially like how you demonstrated the use of colors with the wallpaper. I am wondering if this is a glimpse of how you'll complete your living room.
I'm glad you enjoyed your visit! Yes, green as a neutral sound great to me! You might be on to some thing about the living room... Not wallpaper, but definitely color & pattern! Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day.
Hello, Miss Patricia! The intention behind this visit is to give general ideas about using green in one's home. Did you have a particular shade you were wondering about? I'd be happy to help where I can.
Hello, there! I'm not sure which cabinets you're referring to... perhaps you could give a time stamp from the video? We've used "Pesto Paste" by Behr on our shutters and the cabinet in our pantry. Hope that helps!
Good morning! Thanks for the time stamp. I don't have the paint color used for those deVol cabinets, but a close color you could start with would be Universal Khaki by Sherwin Williams. It looks like those cabinets are a bit more green but muted like the Universal Khaki. For closer study, the website for that kitchen is: deVolkitchens.com.
I love sage with pinks and creams.
Me too!

Welcome to the Stone Cottage Home family, Miss Kristen!
We are glad to have you here!
Paint manufacturers and paint colour numbers would help.
Hello, Miss Patricia!
The intention behind this visit is to give general ideas about using green in one's home. Did you have a particular shade you were wondering about? I'd be happy to help where I can.
I love the green on the Duval cabinets! Would you know a Ben Moore or Sherwin Williams paint color that would be a close match?
Hello, there!
I'm not sure which cabinets you're referring to... perhaps you could give a time stamp from the video? We've used "Pesto Paste" by Behr on our shutters and the cabinet in our pantry. Hope that helps!
@@StoneCottageHome: the cabinets were at (time stamp) 4:23
Good morning!
Thanks for the time stamp. I don't have the paint color used for those deVol cabinets, but a close color you could start with would be Universal Khaki by Sherwin Williams. It looks like those cabinets are a bit more green but muted like the Universal Khaki. For closer study, the website for that kitchen is: deVolkitchens.com.
Can you tell me about the charming bird sweater shown at the 2:00 mark? ❤ Thank you, Mrs. Rachel!
Good morning!
The sweater was thrifted, but it is by Talbots and you can find it on eBay. Thanks for stopping by today!
