    My one year old choked on a nickle today. I put him on my thighs and started hitting his shoulder blades the same way she just did. The nickle came out quickly with a couple strikes. Now I'm watching this video after to see if I made the correct decisions as I can't remember where I learned to do that. It seems like I did good. He was right next to me when he got nickle, going to be more attentive to small items accidentally not being secured very scary.

    I saved a 2 year old this way, when I was 22. She was on my lap (my friend's baby) and my friend noticed she was choking. I jumped up flipped her over, pounded on her back and the candy flew out. Jesus H. Christ. I wasn't taught. It was just my reaction. Thank GOD she was ok.

    When I was younger, I saved my own life🤣🤣🤣 I was in home alone , my sister went to a quick walk and she said that I should eat something before she came to take me to my friend's house. I started to choke with a big piece of sandwich and threw myself in a chair until I got it out. I cried so hard out of the pain 🤣🤣🤣

    Two helpful comments on. a very helpful video: Indicate that for an infant receiving chest thrusts, we use two fingers, between the nipples. Also, I like the idea of forming a “C” with our hand, beneath the infant’s chin, and using a “pancake flip” maneuver when switching from the back to the front.😊

    People who are coughing, crying, talking have still access to air. For example when getting a fishbone into their respiratory system. Just let them cough, because coughing is a good way to remove objects out of the respiratory system. 👍
    Quote: "Both the American Red Cross and UK National Health Service (NHS) advise that, as a first resort, a rescuer should encourage the patient to cough out the obstruction. As a second resort, the rescuer should give five slaps on the back, after bending the patient forward. Abdominal thrusts are recommended only if these methods fail." - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdominal_thrusts#Technique

    One day I choked on a big chicken bone..while being alone..I couldn't breathe or cough and I know only 1 technique which is swallow a handful of cooked rice ball..at a go..and I did that crying thinking this is it..the second big rice ball helped to push down the bone to stomach..I could feel the big bone finally moving through my food pipe

  • @jordanhumphrey6268
    @jordanhumphrey6268 5 років тому +30

    2:29 cpr is not going to help anyone who is choking. You need to make sure their airways are clear before moving to cpr.

    • @erickasterling6425
      @erickasterling6425 5 років тому +1

      Jordan Humphrey~ that's what I was thinking too, but if we can't clear the airway and the child loses consciousness, shouldn't we then start cpr?

    • @jordanhumphrey6268
      @jordanhumphrey6268 5 років тому +15

      ericka huggins-sterling If you start cpr while the airways are still blocked. You will actually push the object farther down. Even if they pass out you will have to keep doing the Heimlich maneuver until the object is cleared or until emergency services arrives. A good tip is to check the mouth to see if the object came out while preforming the Heimlich.

    • @jordanhumphrey6268
      @jordanhumphrey6268 5 років тому +6

      It’s going to be a scary time when performing the Heimlich on someone in real life. You just need to call 911 while preforming the Heimlich and remain calm for their sake.

    • @soulschizm4427
      @soulschizm4427 5 років тому +5

      @@jordanhumphrey6268 What experience do you have in this field? Reason I ask is because it is taught that chest compression's can help relieve the blockage. And not to mention depending on the size of the person you are giving the Heimlich if they pass out I don't realistically see being able to hold them up and do the Heimlich *correctly* at the same time. Do you have any sources on not to start cpr if someone goes unconscious when choking?

    Madam,it is practical that if we push below xiphoid or stomach then more air comes out than pushing hard bone in which minimal air comes come,inspite why we are pushing on sternum??
