I had a talk with a homeless man in central park NYC. He spoke of a day when the city of New York would be mentioned only as an ancient city and that people would only be able to visit that city in the archives of humanity. A day where people then, look back at our world the way we today look back to the Egyptians. "Ancient New York" he said. He got up and walked away. I sat back and thought about what he said, for a long while. It was about two weeks after I saw this film in 2013. I immediately thought of this song while looking around at the buildings. It was a beautiful day. The sun was out and a few puffy white clouds moved slowly across the sky. I could smell the Summer that day. This song, that man and his words, in my head... every time I hear this song. "Ancient New York" always gets me, every damn time.
This is awesome! Thank you for sharing such a beautiful and perspective shifting story. (I’m going to think of “Ancient New York” every time I hear this song too😂)
I believe the old man was correct except for one thing...one of the only things that could wipe out a city in our day would be the bomb. We live in the atomic age. Not that a flood or some other disaster couldn't take place...but after this world as we know it gets destroyed there would be no one left to read about it. Almost no reason to wright history in other words. Great story and good luck my friend😊
I love this movie, love this soundtrack. When I am alone late at night, I put my headphones on & crank up the volume to bury myself in the music, the melancholy, & the lonely darkness of the night.
3:40-3:50 this will always remind me of a old friend. He moved to Missouri a few years ago and he gave me one of his old work vests with his name tag in it a few days before he gave his two week notice. As I listen to this, I always cry as I never got to give my friend a goodbye hug or get his phone number. But his work vest and name tag will always be with me, wherever I go, it comes with me.
The first song sounds like being on a spacecraft and being mystified seeing the earth but knowing your leaving to explore the solar system, knowing tbis could very well be the last time you see mother earth. ❤️ The second song is the journey and knowing earth is behind you but adventure and mystery await you ❤️❤️❤️
Watched this with friends. While the drones are chasing Jack and Julia, I started singing "Highway To The Danger Zone" and kept saying, "Talk to me, Goose."
Hacía poco había perdido a mi padre. Esta música me recuerda escapándome como podía de esos momentos en que la razón cede ante la sensibilidad. La música fué una gran compañera para transitar lo que. me había tocado vivir.
This music reminds me of my eternal spirit and the fact that we are only pilgrims on this earth and striving towards perfection..One day we will be reuniting with God and be one with Him forever.

I used to play these masterpieces while walking at night and watching the stars... 10 years ago... tears roll down....AND IN YOUR DREAMS YOU'LL SEE US FALLING
@@reichreich7070Been a minute since I’ve heard this one. I was 14 at the time but it still brings a sense of nostalgia and closure. I’m 25 now and have lived so much. Which fits perfect with this song. Time flies by in an instant and all you have is the memories of times that will never come back. Kiss, hug and love to the fullest, you never know if it’s the last time. PD. 11 years had to go by to notice it was 2 songs together 😂😂😂

Starcrossed love...the saddest part of the universe. "I'll stay here in the shadows". I absolutely can not get this out of my head or heart. Deeply moving. Since I was young I knew I'd find you But our love was a song Sung by a dying swan And in the night You hear me calling You hear me calling And in your dreams (in your dreams) You see me falling, falling Breathe in the light I'll stay here in the shadows, oh-oh-oh Waiting for a sign, as the tide grows Higher and higher and higher And when the nights are long All the stars recall Your goodbye Your goodbye And in the night You'll hear me calling You'll hear me calling And in your dreams You'll see us falling, falling And in the night You'll hear me calling You'll hear me calling And in your dreams You see us falling, falling Breathe in the light And say goodbye Breathe in the light And say goodbye

It is truly a blessing for me to be in this lifetime This whole fucking band just unique nmc Irreplaceable¡!!!!!!!!a group tht actually makes music I love and I'm 18......
I made a playlist with these two songs in them. I reordered the album so that 'I'm Sending You Away' segues with 'Oblivion' like it was meant to be. I also put 'Raven Rock' before 'I'm Sending You Away', but that's just a preference. They both sound good together.
I once glued my hands together. It's easier to do than you think. People thought I was praying. I'll tell ya, I was praying for Acetone! That was a weird Christmas.

Awesome....no matter how many times you listen it never gets bored
The first soundtrack for a long time makes me think personally for me and tears in the eyes when you are otherwise only full fury and hate ......

These two master pieces "glued" together? Well It's seamless, that is it's a Masterpiece.
This is so emotive and technical. Best thing ive ever had the privilege of hearing.
If we have souls, they're made of the love we share. Undimmed by time, unbound by death.
❤️❤️❤️
Joseph Kosinski nailed this one with his choice for soundtrack that matches up perfectly with his film it's just absolutely beautiful
Well said.
Such a profound say. Well done Tom Cruise, in this gem of a sci-fi movie

Higher and higher and higher
And when the nights are long
All the stars recall
Your goodbye
Your goodbye
And in the night
You'll hear me calling
You'll hear me calling
And in your dreams
You'll see us falling, falling
And in the night
You'll hear me calling
You'll hear me calling
