  • As good a song as any ever written, sung, played and recorded by anyone.
Aimee Mann is credited as being the sole author of this at allmusic.com, discogs.com et al.
I can find no credit for Bob Mould (see below) anywhere.
An mp3 audio file and a photo were very easily and quickly converted to an mp4 video file for this upload at ez-converter.com/

As a recovering addict this song has a special meaning to me in understanding that only I could take responsibility of my recovery. Parents, sibling and friends were put through years of trying to help and finally had to walk away. That was when I hit rock bottom and had to make a decision to live or die. Masterful in lyrics, composition and melody its one of my favorites and still gives me goose bumps to listen.

      dan wilson,
My guess is that she'd be glad and content to know that, even if no one else had ever heard her or given a damn.
Auden wrote on the death of Yeats, 'You were silly like us; your gift survived it all' and it's quite obvious that she knows that she's just like anyone . . . but her relatively (for a human being) scrupulous intelligence and unsentimental compassion combine with her facility with words and music to survive what silliness she has in common with us.
There seems to be no doubt that she wrote about what you wrote about, and also that her implications deepen like a coastal shelf . . . so that what came before and after are evoked too - love and the lack of it, loss and the cost of it.
'Lotta water under the bridge, lotta other stuff too', saith ol' Bob.
Somewhere on the Net, I once heard Aimee say, 'I give a shit.'
