- Today's project is a little different. How about we transform an East German spy phone into a Hugo game console suitable for children? Let's explore what I've done in this video to make this happen.
Sidenote: The extra row of buttons only had five working buttons, one never had any contacts by manifactuerer so it has no label. Also they all didn't shared a common ground so i had todo some resoldering at the board to connect them all together so i could use the pins.

Hell yeah ! Hugo time I played a lot of him in my childhood and got to play it on a phone aswell in a gaming museum in germany
surprised to see hugo on tht net, i thought i was the only one to play this fever dream
Great job, love the Hugomat! One note, please lower the BGM level in the next video, it was hard to understand You sometimes.
thanks, yes the autoducking worked great on export, till youtube had its hand over...
I remember hugo noway good memories
I owned the phone on left in a moss green color as a child living with my grand grandma
omg! using "hugo" game boy ost! awesome!!
totally! i had the gameboy version on the phone too and was surprised about the awesomness of this song. But i thought it was a lil too much for the convention so i hid it. Basicly this phone has almost all games that exist who do not need windows or ps2 controlls .
@@RETROMAT sounds cool! i like how it has its use as menu music if i get that correctly~ i remember these tv shows with hugo btw~ as a kid i was probably similarly irritated - but thinking back i also became aware of good old delay. i think i used to have hugo 5 and hugo 6 on pc~
Another excellent video as always ^_^/
Yeah I figured out that most likely it would be impossible to play this over the phone and tv broadcast game live because of the vary long delay specially in Norway that is 2000+km long... As I remember it almost everyone that tried it live over the phone on tv failed by crashing in the first thing appearing you had to avoid.
I remember when this interactive game was on Russian television in mid 90s. There was no option for people with rotary phones. I even remember the actor who voiced the character adaptation. I didn't know this was some syndicated software from overseas. Thought the game was locally made.
I think it was a Danish game. It was rather popular on Swedish TV for way longer then it should have been... *cringe*
I think its a global pehnomenon now, germany, uk, all northern countries even brazil had hugo!
Oh hey war auf der gamescom und bestimmt 20 mal an eurem stand vorbeigelaufen
Das nächste mal einfach anhalten und hugo spielen ;)
Wery good
