Winch installed and works great. Your instructions completely cleared up my installation questions. The instructions that came with the winch were horrible. Mounted the winch after work one night, and ran the electrical the next night after work. I used your electrical box idea to house the circuit breakers, nice install. All that I have left to do now that I know it's all working is to get some connectors and shorten up all the cable/wires. Thanks for an excellent instructional video.
Man you explain that better showed it better than people on TV if you ain't on TV you should be on TV you save me a lot of time thanks for the video from Paul in Missouri
I just bought a ZXR5000 winch to install on my 2019 low hours Gator that I just got. This video was the most helpful, by far, of all the ones that I watched. Looking forward to completing my install, and hoping that it is as clean as this!
Good Video , I was wondering where my red wire went as got my tractor back I sold 2 years back free , as it was on a junk truck to the scrap! and the 3 wires broke up in side the switch . Thanks
The Harbor Freight 3500lb is amazing for the price. Super smooth winch for cheap Chinese. I think a tool box tour would be awesome. Im a geek about tools.
Thanks so much for this video. I'm usually pretty good about getting things put together. This video kept me from making mistakes on the wiring. Thanks again for your video. A great help!!!
I was just wondering if I need mine winch hooked up to a Solenoid cause I just have it hooked up to the battery the winch is a champion 3000 lb I planning on adding a wireless remote up to the winch plzz help it’s a 2001 big bear 400 4x4
im mounting mine to the top of a wild boar bumper do i need a special mount or can it be mounted right to the bumper . I ordered a superAtv 4500 black ops ,comes with pretty much everything you show here would the install process be pretty much the same
why do you need a solenoid, why cant you just run a + and - wire from battery to the on off switch for the winch and then run a + and - wire from the switch to the winch.
the switch won't handle the high amprage so you use a soloniod which operates on low current on the switch side and allows the others side to still handle the high current. no melted switch this way
I realize this is years after you posted it. I hope you are going to get this and will respond. I would like to put this setup on my 2008 Rhino 700. I am not a mechanic but think after viewing your video, I will give it a try. What brand of winch and mounting plate would you suggest I buy? Thank you.
I put this same winch on my kubota x900....the battery is under the dump bed....cables barely reach the battery...its a sloppy mess of a job but winch works good so far
Answered my question: what the hell do I do with all this bare metal (breaker) on the positive wire?! I can see where that setup outta the box could get somebody into some trouble. Usually harbor freight does better in the CYA department on their products and instructions. Great video, thanks!
Thank god I finally found a great teacher who explains stuff. THANK YOU!
This is the best video I have seen. I am not a shop genius. This is an intimidating task for me, personally.
Me too brother.
From all the videos I've watched this was definitely the most helpful, thank you!
The skills this man has when it comes to working on motorcycles, ATV's and Side-by-Sides blows my mind! D-Ray, you the man, my friend!!!!!!!! :)
Thanks! I do appreciate it!
Great video. Instructive, not any fluff, and even the background music is nice and not obtrusive!

Really appreciate how you take the time to explain and show the small steps too. Thanks!
I am very impressed with your professionalism.
You don't find that everyday.
11:11 if you're not soldering your lugs, a dollop of dielectric grease on cable ends before heat shrink keeps the copper clean
D-Ray is D-man. Thanks for all the help. Great Idea with electrical box.
Professional, knowledgeable and you actually guide the viewers through every step.
Excellent 10/10

Best vid on install I've seen , explained brilliantly. Thanks .
It's great to see something new, looking forward to part two. I like the electrical box idea to hide the fuses/breakers.
Thanks Ben, I probably over do some of it, just OCD I guess, lol!
Good Video , I was wondering where my red wire went as got my tractor back I sold 2 years back free , as it was on a junk truck to the scrap! and the 3 wires broke up in side the switch . Thanks

Gotta love the heatshrink tubing, finishes the joints off perfect :-D

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Very helpful
Hey D-Ray, could you tell me what brand wire crimps those are, look like nice ones? Thank You.
Good afternoon D ray. Have a massimo 500 have serious electric issue. How long labor hours do you think and how hard to rewire with new harness

how about if you use a remote setup?
Were all the parts shown included in the winch kit? How well do those HF winches hold up?
very clean install! Recommend you put a link to the next video at the end of this video or in the description.
Awsome vid! You should do a tool box tour and show us all your specialty tool
Thanks, sounds like a good video project! ;)
Such a great video, thank you!
nice idea on the electrical box, never saw black ones before though
Thanks man, it was actually grey, I painted it black so it wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb, lol!
makes sense, imagine how a blue one would look......

Excellent thank you
Would have been better if you would have shown disassembly of the front end of UTV/ATV for those who have never done that
@4:05 sooooo stupid that the manufacturer doesn't provide that. It is very very dangerous.
Attaching winch
