You're a great pilot. I was flying one of my multi engined planes a while back and one engine quit, and with it being far away and such a lightweight high power plane it began cartwheeling before I could do anything. And that really isn't recoverable at 10 feet in the air. The plane was totalled, but I got plenty of scrap from it!

Hey, I'm sorry about your take off, but the ride on the lake was pretty pleasant to watch. The lake is perfectly transparent and quiet : enjoyable video just for the ambiance !
I don't care what anyone says, you're a better pilot than you get credit for. That was awesome the way you caught that and landed instead of pushing thru and potentially crashing the plane!
good call on the set down, im surprised you didnt notice the problem in the taxi but you may be like me and just want it in the air :) even if it does a 180 and takes off downwind lol
That plane is beautiful. I enjoyed the video for the learning experience, but really wish i could have seen a flight! I bet you were annoyed with such good conditions
@@redjem13 Okay. I really appreciate all the effort you put into your videos. They are really inspiring, crisp, and enjoyable. I seriously can not get enough. 😃
From what i can see here, is that your servo intercepted with your motor, it is either you are using an old receiver, possible, change your receiver, your motor and Esc is doing just fine, or maybe just try binding your receiver again, if cant, change your components to a new set. I believe that should work, nice plane u have there btw. To those who stated bad comments, listen, radio control isnt something very easy to make, it requires precision making, you do not simply just want everything to work your way, there will be mistakes in every project, if no ill call you a hypebeast, ok but seriously, this hobby is not easy, simple mistake like connecting wrong polarity of the battery to the ESC will burnt your components, right now you are dealing with something that flies, you will have mistakes of course, it isnt as simple as you think, it is good that this guy finds out the problem and have a way to resolve it. Ps: I make RC battleships🚢 and from Singapore🇸🇬 peace✌
Do you have the systems tied to each side or did you split them. On multiple engine planes with electrics i tie one and Four together and two and three together off the same esc so if you have a failure of an esc or battery you should still have one motor on each wing and not have an unrecoverable yaw occur....if that makes any sense. :-)
Thanks for the comment. The motors are all wired together as best I can, but due to my brushless motors I need an individual ESC for each motor. I have redundant batteries, but for some reason one side of the plane was going into low voltage cut off, even though I programmed LVC out of the ESC.
GPgamer422 Blog it dumbass! There’s a clear answer right there, from the owner of the video! Also, you wouldn’t have known what body of water it was if you hadn’t seen his comment. Great job.
Sounds like an ESC sync issue. Usually happens when the motors are not powerful enough to handle the props and the motor gets out of phase with the ESC
well also with that the wires in the egnein/ coils probably wheren't working half the time so real when that power was generated all the moter was doing was receving a small amount of battery power.
it's a sync issue. you shouldn't have independent throttle control for flight. you can set them differently for taxiing but your rudder should be able to control it just fine. I'm sure you've figured all this out by now. let me know if i'm right or not
If the batteries are wired in parallel, you should be alright. Personally, when running batteries in parallel or series I try to keep the exact same battery, same brands, same numbers and everything together. With the price of Lipos decreasing, I would personally by a replica of each of your batteries and then have two battery packs so I could fly two flights instead of one.
Balsa is best! Foam sucks.. At least imho.. I've flown both and balsa flies nice and stable.. Foam is twitchy and even the slightest breeze hits like a gale force!!!!! Maybe I'm just more into relaxed flying though, some folks might like foam's twitchy, easily perturbed flight character : )
It`s pretty easy to solve the weight and weight distribution on a foamie, but I prefer balsa too lol.. Big fan of foam CORE though, little foam, some carbon here and there, nice plywood sheething on the wings and fibreglass fuse..? Dammit, now I wanna build a slope soarer for some reason :p
Hello Damian, this model was scratch built from plans designed by Ivan Pettigrew. The build log can be found by using the link in the description, and the plans can be purchased from Ivan directly at ivansplans.com
Close! This is a model of a Short Solent flying boat representing TEAL out of New Zealand. Check the description for a detailed build thread and more info!
Hi Leigh! Thanks for the comment! This model was entirely hand-built by myself. Approximate material cost was around $1500, however it took me nearly 3 years of build time to complete. You can find an entire build thread linked in the description with photos from the build.
That water looks so nice
Where are you flying at??
+Rc Addict Near Traverse City, Michigan
Rc Addict ya

Thanks very much for the kind words! I was lucky that the motors did not loose all their power, other wise my reactions might not of been sufficient!
At least you couldn`t have had better conditions :)
Looks real peaceful at that spot..

wow that water was perfect tho!!! to bad for the mechanical error tho otherwise you had a beautiful setup and beautiful airplane... envy
Awesome beautiful lake. Couldn't think of a nicer place for flying a rc-plane.
When can expect another video!? I can’t wait. These are amazing. I wish they were longer! Keep it up 😀
I have a few plans, nothing ready for videos though! Thanks
@@redjem13 Okay. I really appreciate all the effort you put into your videos. They are really inspiring, crisp, and enjoyable. I seriously can not get enough. 😃
Do you have a followup video of it actually flying? Would love to see this thing soar.
What is it made out of?
Balsa and ply! Check out my build video here: tinyurl.com/hyzpxtc
Nice piloting and technical skills............
A beautiful flying boat in a magnificent location!
The water is beautiful. It's so calm and clear
At this point u might as well call it a rc boat with wings
Terry Nikolaidis ikr
Terry Nikolaidis hi
i love your vedo
Ela Tangalin those are his liked videos
Not his
more like an airboat
That plane looked so sick...I'm going to have to build one! Nice Video :)

What lake is that and where was is it? Very nice looking place.

Good thinking
it might be the timing... each motor need there own separate ESC for proper individual timing.

I'm awe struck by the beauty of that lake.
Gorgeous machine, good luck
what body of water is this? it is gorgeous!
Lake Michigan, East Grand Traverse Bay.
Wow That is beautiful! I am over in Wisconsin.
It's called Lake Michigan, and yes it is beautiful
GPgamer422 Blog it dumbass! There’s a clear answer right there, from the owner of the video! Also, you wouldn’t have known what body of water it was if you hadn’t seen his comment. Great job.
I kinda like it, but doesn't it have a weird design for a boat, i mean, usually the rotor is under water or am I thinking wrong now?
Awesome plane!
Sounds like an ESC sync issue. Usually happens when the motors are not powerful enough to handle the props and the motor gets out of phase with the ESC
Its beautiful up there, look how clear the water is! I vacation in Leland.
Over loading the ESC when over 3/4 throttle it seems....
Probably a timing issue not current draw...
+Eugene Zbinden I agree it's a deff a timing issue , multiple causes I.e. Bec misswiring, bad programming, bad ESC bad motor bad power
well also with that the wires in the egnein/ coils probably wheren't working half the time so real when that power was generated all the moter was doing was receving a small amount of battery power.
that would imply a bad motor or ESC which causes timing issues,
I love it
Where is this gorgeous lake (or sea?)?!?!
where is this lake? very clear!
Sounds like a loose prop drive or Spun Rotor not pressed onto the shaft and spinning under load?
No,it does not.
Where is that at water looks so nice
Love the new Zealand reg :)
Cool video. 👍🏼👍🏼
The water is so calm and clear, no wind at all either. Where is this?
Where are you at looks beautiful?
Beautiful plane.
BTW what camera are you using? TIA
+Jim Garrett Camera is a Mobius ActionCam Lens B. Thanks for the compliment.
Is the plane based off a catilina?
what camera was this clip taken on?
was this a catalina or albatross?
Where is this beautiful place?
Those are probs we end of from time to time. A least she's in one piece. What cam did u you use? Your picture quality is exceptional
where is that sea? looks so pretty
Lake! Lake Michigan, East Grand Traverse Bay

Great lake!
nice, where is that?
That noise at the beginning was nice
Water is calm and great camera.
sorry, i have one question again, can i combine 2 type of li-po 3s 25c 2200 mah with li-po 3s 30c 3000 mah ?
If the batteries are wired in parallel, you should be alright. With the price of Lipos decreasing, I would personally by a replica of each of your batteries and then have two battery packs so I could fly two flights instead of one.
owwhh it's gonna be allright if i use in parallel... oke i see it, i will try it
thanks again
What camera did you use?
Awesome location! Where were you flying?
My father flew as navigator on the S 23 ( and many others) with Imperial Airways. Beautiful model and I had a place in Lake City, Mi and fly r/c also
Very cool! The plane is currently around the Houghton Lake area, down for some maintenance this winter.
Nice recovery. Is it balsa and film or foam
Thanks! It's almost entirely made of balsa, with a bit of plywood for some hard points.
that looks like a sunderland
Balsa is best! Foam sucks.. At least imho.. I've flown both and balsa flies nice and stable.. Foam is twitchy and even the slightest breeze hits like a gale force!!!!!
Maybe I'm just more into relaxed flying though, some folks might like foam's twitchy, easily perturbed flight character : )

Dammit, now I wanna build a slope soarer for some reason :p
Is that a Sunderland?
I'm glad you were able to safely abort and land, well done. Also the water is so clear! Looks like a great place to fly. Where is this place?
Near Traverse City, Michigan. Thanks!
Looks like it could almost be Torch Lake, hard telling from the ground. ;)
Near Torch Lake, actually on the East Grand Traverse Bay.
Awesome. Me and my family were up there (on Torch) for a weekend a few weeks ago. Love it up there. :)
Well keep up the good work
Where can I buy this plane model or did you build this?
Hello Damian, this model was scratch built from plans designed by Ivan Pettigrew. The build log can be found by using the link in the description, and the plans can be purchased from Ivan directly at ivansplans.com
great plane. sounds like loose prop or loose shaft
That water is so clear!
nice touchdown apon aborting the takeoff, I myself would have ended up crashing nose first into the water
Thanks! I was lucky it all worked out!
At the beginning you can hear that the esc's are not in calibrated, or is it just me? Beautiful anyways!!!
This location is so relaxing and beautiful, where is this?
You ply a ship or plan?
To translate: You fly a ship or plane? (Edited)
where can i find this crystal clear water
very cool the boat
that's a beutiful and
huge rc plane!
Where ist the Camera from ?
Your rc boat is perfectly working
Is this a model of a Short S-23 C class flying boat of Imperial Airways - 1930's
Close! This is a model of a Short Solent flying boat representing TEAL out of New Zealand. Check the description for a detailed build thread and more info!
What model was that
What plane is that? Is that the british Sunderland?
Short Solent mk. III
TEAL Flight Okay, thanks.
Nice plane
+Danio 12 Thanks.
Where is that? You got no lil waves at all there :)
Does it fly?
Nice bird man
Go pro?
Electric Motors / Water: what could go wrong?
Actually the motors are pretty insensitive to water. ESCs not so much...
where this lake is located?
Near Traverse City, Mi. It's East Grand Traverse Bay
How much does something like this cost??
Hi Leigh! Thanks for the comment! This model was entirely hand-built by myself. Approximate material cost was around $1500, however it took me nearly 3 years of build time to complete. You can find an entire build thread linked in the description with photos from the build.
Nice boat.
wow the Location looks amazing.
Can you tell me were this is?
greets
Cold start?
It's very good place to enjoy the sea plane.
This in Taupo?
No sir, it is just a model of a plane that operated under Tasman Empire Airways Limited, or TEAL, based in NZ.
at the start sounded like a good ringtone
Very Good Friend;)
hi. how i can buy a plane like that ?
Hi! You can only buy the plans. No kit, no pre-made. Designer is Ivan Pettigrew, you can find the link to my build thread in the description!
What RC is that?
Check the description for more info!
where is it..??!
this Video its Amazing!
how much did this plane cost
It was scratch built from plans, total cost is unknown, perhaps under $1000.00
1 million dollers
is this nz plane?
where is this at?
East Grand Traverse Bay, Michigan
Imbalanced prop, not tight, motor gone?
Hey this pretty good *sees engine stalls* AHH CRAP if I were in a DC 3:Enigine 1 fire (but I they on fire you dam good!)
